Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

the cam at Miraflores is still pointing down. Hopefully it will be facing toward the Magic in a couple hours or so!

The Miraflores Webcam is rotated throughout the day to show Canal traffic from different vantage points. The camera generally shows northbound traffic in the morning and southbound traffic in the evening.

It looks like they fixed it.

John - yours is great too. Thanks to all who took the time to capture and share their pics and animations.

I just sent an email to the canal authority requesting that they follow the ship from first sighting all the way until out of sight heading into the Pacific.
I believe an earlier poster indicated that they had too.

Thanks for the animated sequences. Makes my single pic look sad. I don't mind. Great Job!!!

I was waiting for my turn at the internet machine when Peter called me over to see the webcam photos... how cool is that. I just got through taking photos out on deck while passing the Gatun locks and am thrilled to see the webcam captures.

I'm there,... on Deck 9.

I did take yesterday and today off from work, not specifically to watch you
guys go through the Panama Canal. Really.

But damn, how cool was that??? I saw you waving. ::snort::

Does anyone know around what time the Magic will be going through the Miraflores Locks? I missed it live when it went through the Gatun Locks, so I really want to see this one.

Hey everyone, thanks for letting me know. At least now I won't just sit and stare at the computer for the next 4 hours. I might get some work done. :flower: Wishing I was there!! :wizard:

According to our schedule for the day we should be entering the Miraflores locks about 2:20 p.m. (we changed our clocks last night so we are on the central time zone).

There was a question as to what's happening.

We sat for about an hour after entering the lake and dropped the anchor as we had to wait for others ships.

Our ship for the day is S 8 Zulu.

S for South
8 for 8th ship to enter for the day (but actually the 4th ship to enter the Gatun locks). Ships going south are given even numbers, ships going north are given odd numbers.
Zulu for Passenger Ship.

So we are not called the Disney Magic on our passage, we are S 8 Zulu!!!

It about 15 minutes is the beginning of the 1st ever Panama Canal Crossing Deck BBQ party!! They have out on deck about 20 huge BBQ's and they are starting them up. Rumor has it there is going to be some lobster coming out for lunch!

Postcards are being sold up on the deck with PC stamps. They will be taken off the ship at 2:30 today and mailed from Panama today to the United States for us. Postcard sales have skyrocketed!

The movies and pictures are awesome! We are excited to see them here on the Magic from your angle.

Also, we have made 2 historical moments already today!

1. Entering the Panama Canal
2. Taking the Magic for the first time ever in fresh water!

Watch for us later today! Many pictures were taken by helicopter and by the ships photographers who got off the ship. I am sure they will show up in Shutters tonight!

Linda

Thanks LisaF! That was awesome...can't wait to show my son when he gets home from school today!

Calling S 8 Zulu........S 8 Zulu, are you there?

Enjoy the barbecue (hopefully with lobster)!!!!!

Is there a cam for Pedro Miguel? If so, can someone post it? I keep seeing references to changing the camera for that lock, but haven't found that cam. Thanks!

I know jealousy is bad in all, but i SO want to be on that ship. Knowing what i know how, I probably would have re-mortgaged my house (well, not really...maybe).

Thanks to everyone for posting, getting hte pictures, telling stories and really making us feel a little bit of the magic.

I just wonder if any of you will be able to go on a regular Disney cruise again. You may be ruined.

:cool1: Thanks everyone for catching the Magic going through the first lock for us west coast folks. That was just waaay to early for me.

Been following this thread from the beginning and all I can say is WOW! Wish I was there. Have fun PC cruisers and bring the Magic safely to us. Whoo hoo, she's halfway here!

Finally got caught up on the pages. Thanks to those on the Magic for your reports, loving them, and those of you that got the Magic going thru the lock, Fantastic :goodvibesl Keep up the great "work"
