This may be of some interest in the days to come. Take everyone's minds off of pin trading. From the weather channel-
"Meanwhile, the first tropical depression of the eastern Pacific season has formed a little over 450 miles southeast of Guatemala and El Salvador. Tropical Depression 1-E is likely to strengthen into a tropical storm. Toerential rain is possible over the next couple of days over Central America. Flooding is likely. All interests from southern Mexico to El Salvador should keep a close eye on this developing situation."

BigBadandBlue is fairly well known in the pin trading community. He is not a cast member and has always been pleasant to me in the past.

Since I won't have another way of attaining this pin (my main collection is DCL pins) I may consider bidding if the price doesn't get to crazy.

I know, I put it in my Ebay watch list. I'm curious to see how much it goes for. ;)

Just checked out the National Hurricane Center website - does not look promising! Hope all goes well on this "Magical" Journey to the west.

I just love this thread. Ive read every post so far. Cant wait to get more info. Does anyone know that if we bring our own popcorn if roomservice will pop it for you.

The pin line started about 10 last night about 125 people slept on the floor. We joined the line at 4:30 am and got all of the pins released. All of the limited pins are now gone according to Merchandising. At least no more pin lines for this cruise.

Had a great show in Lummier's tonight with Belle and the Beast we each got a pin at the end of the show. It was great.

Alot of new presentations and shows on this trip. Having a great time.

After arriving to the Mickey after show last night in the atrium and the balloons dropped we were informed that DCL had sent out a letter and they were releasing all pins this morning at 8 a.m.

At that point we went and checked the line on Beat Street. There were already 40 people in line.

By 11 p.m. the line went from the atrium all the way through the atrium and almost to the back hallway.

By 6 a.m. the line was to Parrot Cay and winded back and around and it was quite hilarious.

Many CM's and officers came up during the night with cameras and took pictures of the First Ever Disney Magic Slumber Jammie Party! They were amazed.

It was very organized and efficient this morning.

We had our vouchers by 8:05 a.m.

The word I got is that somewhere between 6 and 7 a.m. that in that time period somewhere is where the LE 500 pin vouchers ran out. So basically if you were in line by 6 a.m. you got a pin.

Captain Thord Haugen said at the CC party this afternoon that at 8 p.m. tonight (about right now) that the Magic would be at the southern most point it has ever travelled. He also stated that when the ship goes into dry dock that there are going to be some new changes and they would be sharing some of those things later this week.

There are about 1100 Castaway Club members on board this cruise according to the captain.

How exciting and fun!!!!!!

Thanks for all the live posts. Can't wait to hear about the changes that will happen in dry dock. It sound like there are a lot of new things going on. You guys are sooo lucky.

I imagine this will be the most read post of all time. How many pages will it be by day 14?

Sounds like a fun and unique time. I would have been there (Mark wouldn't be with me but Bear might :) )

I know for the next Member Cruise they are offering special merchanise (not pins) that you can order ahead of time and they will be waiting in your room when you get there. Seems like it would have been nice if the same thing could have been done for this special sailing with the shirts, pins, etc. If for no other reason than they see the demand ahead of time and saves people from those who want to be greedy about it.
Now THAT is a great idea! I would get the pins without having to waste my vacation time standing in line, and they would know what the demand would be ahead of time.

Did anyone on this cruise book their Spa/Palo/Flounders ressies before leaving? If so, how did that work out for you? Any glitches?

On the Pin issue...perhaps there will be something special at the end of the line as a parting gift? Has anyone bothered to ask?

Here's a little something that our fellow disers will have in store for tomorrow.........

AN INTRODUCTION TO CURAÇAO

Famous for its fine liqueur made from the sweetened peel of bitter oranges and for its sunny climate and secluded beaches, Curaçao has a rich and diverse history, which explains the international flavor of its culture and the curious mixture of Old and New World charm. The people claim descent from over 50 different ethnic backgrounds, and the native language, Papiamentu, is a creole mixture of Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, English, French, African, and some Arawak Indian.

Curaçao's strategic position at the base of the Caribbean has also made it an important crossroads for global commerce and connected the tiny island with many of the important persons and events in world affairs. Amerigo Vespucci, Alonso de Ojeda, Peter Stuyvesant, the notorious Captain Bligh, Simon Bolivar were all drawn into Curaçao's colorful past.

Today however, it is mainly the sun and the natural beauty that bring people here. With an average rainfall of less than 22 inches a year, the weather is almost guaranteed to be sunny all the time, and the constant tradewinds help to keep the island cool. There are 38 different beaches to choose from -- some that are sheltered by towering cliffs, others with deep caves created by the pounding surf, and still others with wide expanses and modern facilities.

Or for the more actively inclined, there are ample opportunities to experience the natural wonders up close. Curaçao has long been overlooked by diving enthusiasts, but the national Underwater Park is a 12.5 mile stretch of protected coral reef with many attractions for even the most experienced of divers and Klein Curaçao, a small uninhabited island off the eastern coast, is well worth exploring. The marlin, sailfish, tuna, and wahoo in the offshore waters provide excellent Deep Sea Fishing, and the wildlife in the preserve at Christoffel Park should be of interest to anyone who prefers to encounter nature on dry land.

Curaçao is also a great spot for bargain-hunters. The duty-free shopping makes for some of the best deals in the Caribbean on imported electronic equipment, china, crystal, jewelry, linens, and perfume. The capital city of Willemstad has an active social life with music festivals all year long, dancing at the popular discotheques, and gambling in the hotel casinos.

Location:

The largest and most populous of the Netherlands Antilles, located in between Aruba and Bonaire, Curaçao lies some 35 miles off the northern coast of Venezuela and 800 miles north of the equator. The island is 38 miles long and varies between 2 and 8 miles in width. Spectacular beaches line the southwest, leeward coast. Geographically, it falls within the Atlantic Standard Time Zone, which is one hour ahead of U.S. Eastern Standard Time and the same as Eastern Daylight Time. Its capital city is Willemstad.

Size:
The population numbers more than 170,000, most of whom are of African or mixed African and European descent. In all, more than 50 different ethnic backgrounds are represented here, and the people are very proud of the island's international flavor. The native language is Papiamentu, but Curaçaoans are multi-lingual, having learned to speak English, Dutch, and Spanish at school from the third grade on.

Climate:
Curaçao lies well below the hurricane belt, so the climate is sunny and dry, averaging only 22 inches of rainfall per year. The rainy season occurs in November and December. Despite the almost constant sunshine, the average year-round temperature is only 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) due to the trade winds that keep the island cool all the time. A hilly island of volcanic origin, Curaçao supports a large variety of tropical flora and fauna, most of which may be found in Christoffel Park, a nature preserve located at the northern tip around the island's highest point, Mt. Christoffel.
