Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

Honestly, I would just skip getting the pins if it was this much hassle! Thx again for the terrific posts everyone.............we are all loving every minute of them!! :cool1:

In reference to the Tropical Depression, Here's the current map. Looks like the Magic is far enough south that it shouldn't be a problem and it will be out of the area by the time the Magic gets through the Canal.

The pin thing sounds like a disaster and how sad for those who choose to be sane and not camp out...they don't get pins!!!! I don't understand how one could be on ebay with pictures and all (it certainly looks like a cool pin). I thought WI-FI wasn't up and running on the Magic, so how could he take a picture and list on ebay if he's still on the ship (as the auction description states)? Very interesting!!!

Anyway, this thread is quite exciting...thanks for all the live posts!!!

Oh sure. I'm Jessica Fletcher, that makes me the old one.

Missed the murder mystery today because the Haunted Mansion presentation ran to about an hour and a half! Very cool.

We got a clue slipped under our door - Clue #4. Don't know what happened to clues 1 through 3 but at least we aren't clueless. :confused3

Someone mentioned that they might tip current cruisers off to changes slated to take place during the next dry dock....

Does anyone know when the next dry dock is supposed to take place?

I have been a Web Application Developer for over 8 years so that one is pretty easy for me to answer.

Ron has a personal website hosted by Road Runner which is an ISP (sorry, Internet Service Provider). He took a picture of the pin with his digital camera and gave it to someone at Shutters to upload to his site (I have been told that Shutters does this although I have no personal experience).

Here is the image on his site -
PanamaLogo.Jpg

After he had the image uploaded he went to the Internet cafe and posted his auction to eBay referencing the image he has on his site.

Any questions? ;)

I'm so glad we got some positive comments about the new menu. On some of the other trip reports it didn't sound like there was alot of enthusiasm for the new menus they were trying out.
Has anyone gotten ahold of someone from DCL that they actually talked with about the pins and other merchandise or has it just been through Email? I was wondering what they might have said about the situation and if they recognized that there was a problem.

A lot of us on the August cruise have emailed DCL concerning the Pin problem -- personally I'd love to get a set -- to keep as a memory not to sell on Ebay. Hopefully - they will come up with a better idea for distribution (ie... make enough for at least 1 set per cabin), otherwise - I'll skip getting them.

The one thing I am upset about is the people with the pillow cases who bought 20 - 30 t-shirts at a clip and noboby else got any - will be on our cruise too!

Has anyone on the May Repo -- talked to guest services about this problem - and if so - what was the response?

I guess I will have to wait until August for any pins. The one on E-bay has been bid up to $31 and still has over 4 days to go. What a shame.

Hello from Curacao! Rainy and overcast today, I don't know the report yet, so I don't know if the sun is expected. Great night last night, we had dinner at Palo with Cotomom, Kendra and James, and ScottH, Scott and Lynn. I think we were at Palo for about three and a half hours. Fantastic time, great food. So far we have nothing planned for today, I guess we will see what the weather is going to be. We will probably get off the ship and go to the shops. A Royal Caribbean ship is here also. We will update you later in the day.

We are here in Curacao! We came into the harbour and the fire boats shot water through the air. The Captain sounded the Mickey horn three times in a row as we came into dock. Hardly any residents at the dock. There is a welcome banner for the Magic on the dock and the ship has just been cleared by customs (7:50 a.m.)

Little rainy. Hopefully will clear up. We were able to come past the walking bridge and they opened the bridge and the ship came through and then they closed it up. It is fun to be eating on the AFT as they have opened and closed it when ships are coming in and out.

for posting reports from the cruise. There isn't much work getting
done at work or home - too interested in these boards (my DH is
the pin collector, not me, and he will never go on EBay to sell them,
or sleep somewhere to be the first to get one, I think).....whenever possible, please keep us updated on your cruise, the food, the entertainment,
the fun YOU are having......smooth sailing.....thanks again. Lucy

For the questions regarding whether we have emailed or let staff know about the problems with the pins, merchandise, etc.

Believe me, all that the CM's and others heard on this cruise the 1st three days was the issue on the pins and merchandise. There were many meetings on board as to what was going to be done to correct the situation. The VP of DCL is also on board and he has been made aware by many about the disaster of the whole merchandise situation.

I have to say to those that we continuously commented to that KUDOS goes to them (here on board) for taking the necessary steps and to at least change the situation as best as they could in order to rectify the current situation. Every single one of us is extremely happy that we don't have to be back on board by noon today to get in line for a Curacao pin. We are done, we have all our pins, and now we can enjoy our vacation!

Also...the update on the shirts. We made many comments that the shirts and caps were stock items that they probably had sitting in a warehouse in Orlando and all they had to do was pull them out, screen print more and embroider the stuff on and they do that in Florida. We have been told that more blue t-shirts are being printed and are on their way. (Not sure where they will come on board at) and they are diligently working and waiting on the answer for the white ladies long sleeved shirt and the caps. So our requests are not being ignored.

Unfortunately, it is always the front line workers that suffer from the idiots who make threatening remarks when they don't get their way. The dis board members who have been aware of the situation have even told the few individuals who were obnoxious and rude and threatening to knock it off. the one guy finally left. I hope he is still in time out!

There was also a question about making ressies on line and if we had any problem.

I booked Palo's, 3 spa appointments on line after DCL opened the system. When I got on board I had confirmation of my Palo's in my stateroom upon arrival. Later that day I received a card written from the spa with all of my appointments. They were all correct, and I have had no problems at all.

We aren't using Flounder's, so I don't know the answer, but since the others are working well, I would guess Flounder's works just the same.

Oh, and yesterday the shop brought out the two sketches that are available for purchase that Ducky has drawn. The first is the fab five which I believe is open stock, the second is Mickey and Minnie which I heard is exclusive to this cruise. I was told that Ducky is doing a different one for each of the nine cruises he is on in the next year? But I am not sure about that.

They sell for $15 each. There were about 10 boxes of each behind the cash register.

They are 8 x 10 size wise.

seaulater,

Thanks for the continuous live updates. I'm really loving it. Glad you guys got all your pins and don't have to deal with that any more. Hopefully, by the time we board in August, all the kinks will have been straightened out.

Have a wonderful and safe journey!!

Mary

TigfanJeff..........yes, the rumor IS true about the wireless, someone told me that they are planning for the dry dock to add it.....the only hang up? How to charge......They lose internet cafe income and shutters would lose some from "uploads" from digital cameras if everyone brought the laptop....
We use Bluesocket (http://www.bluesocket.com/) devices here where I work. Those would totally work for allowing authentication and charging.

But since you are older than she is, and you had your Angela Lansbury celeb encounter, I made you the geriatric one. Sorry.

Is there a way to ask for the previous clues at the purser's desk or something? "Our Haunted Mansion lecture was running overtime, and it was too fascinating to leave to get our clues." (This dancing banana is my favorite.)

By the way, I love the guinea pig logo you made.
