Hello everyone

After a rather stressful day yesterday we are on board safe and sound and having a wonderful time.

We arrived at the port at 11:30 and they ended up evacuating the whole terminal and we didn't board until after 3:30. Something about a bomb threat. Big bummer, rush for lunch and life boat drill and then the sailaway party, when they finally let us on. We actually just stood outside in the parking lot across the street until they cleared us to go back in and back through security etc.

Anyway, didn't do any ressie rush and by the time I got to Palo's late last night I went on the waiting list for brunch and dinner. They called with a brunch time for tomorrow so I was happy. If we get dinner, great- if not that's OK too. The hairbraiding was also filled, but they squeezed my daughter in this morning, so she was happy. They did a great job, too- very quick.

Our servers are Octavia and Armine (spell) and our stateroom host, oh honestly, I can't remember. Alvin? from India, I think. Anyway, very nice.

Took DGD to the clubs for a couple of hours and spent a glorious afternoon at the adult pool. Gotta run now and pick her up.

The weather is GREAT. Perfect, and looking forward to the rest of the trip.

Will check in and answer questions when I can!!

Jenn

All is good that ends good... Thank goodness it was only a scare, and everything is fine.....

Sounds like you are already enjoying yourselves....Have a Magical Cruise.. :earsboy: :sunny:

Last week the Holland America ship was late sailing due to a bomb threat. I sure hope this doesn't become a regular occurance.

Thx for sharing Jenn! Sry about your crazy start, but things seem to be picking up....hope the weather holds...have a great trip!! :flower:

What a nightmare! :( I am also glad that it turned out to be nothing but really feel for those with young children who were getting ansty & the fact there was no food around. I know that I would have been hungry before then. Can't imagine the kids. :(

Hope that you have a fantastic time the rest of the week!

Yes, it was difficult yesterday to be out there in the sun for almost 3 hours. The issue for me is there just wasn't any information. Please tell us something, is there an end in sight or what?? 5 minutes, 5 hours, give us something!!!! It was rumored that there was a bomb threat, but I never really knew for sure as no one ever informed us. DH dropped me and the kids off, I got all the papers checked and checkon screened etc. and was thrilled there was only one person in the Castaway Cay line- me! We were all set but couldn't board as we were waiting for dh (who by the way said Budget was a disorganized, slow evolution). An hour later, I'm getting concerned and I saw a few more woman watching the door, fretting. Finally one of the wives said that they weren't letting anyone in as there was some unattended luggage outside. So, I looked out the window and sure enough, there was DH standing in this long line. Shortly after that, they closed the gangway and made everyone clear the building. Funny (not ha ha but well, kinda), but we ate at O'hanas the night before (Friday night) and they had some problem with the kitchen and made us evacuate the restaurant. Luckily we were almost finished so we just left but it was kind of scary. Place was filling up with smoke and DH wanted out of there (as opposed to me who was willing to gag for the pineapple with warm carmel dipping sauce). So, we couldn't believe it when this happened yesterday! Twice in two days!!! We were visiting NYC when the big blackout happened too!!!!! :rotfl: Funny in hindsight but not then!!

Anyway, had our formal night tonight in Parrot Cay. Kind of wierd being in there for formal night but very, very, fun. Live music and the kids were dancing etc. I know people have mixed feelings about the food, but ours has been excellent. The prime rib I had tonight was some of the best I ever had. Hot, cooked perfect etc. Excellent! Last night too in AP. We've had really great meals with wonderful servers. They are not doing magic tricks etc but just soooo nice and attentive and paying very special attention to the kids. Oh, and the stateroom hosts name is Darwin. He's doing a great job for us. The Disney service is really fabulous.

Gotta run, these big meals and sunny days by the pool really tire a person out :earboy2:

Ugghhhh.....I have 27 more days before the cruise....Ill just close my eyes and live through your emails....lol........I am really interestes in hearing about Castaway Cay...I have read other threads that say they havent been able to dock there.......

Hope this doesnt pertain to yours also :guilty:

Someone from the last Wonder cruise posted tonight that they did dock at CC.

Another glorious day at sea. Ate at Palos this morning for brunch. We had Andrew from the Philippines. What a great guy. We spent most of the time talking with him about his life and travels. The food was delicious. Tried the stollen. Yum, yum and the ricotta cheesecake goes down as some of the best dessert I've ever had. Also, a side note, I told DH he had to wear slacks even though it was resort casual. He hates this dressing up stuff but did wear slacks. Well, when we walked in, there were several men in shorts :sad2: so I did ask the CM. He said shorts were allowed for brunch as long as they were the khaki button-down type so if anyone was wondering about that, that's the skinny. Or, perhaps that was an inappropriate pun when talking about Palos brunch!!

Another tidbit of info. My dgd has spent only a couple of hours in the clubs since we arrived so we can get a little bit of time at the adult pool in the afternoon. Today she really didn't want to go and I asked her specifically why. She said she felt like she was with really little kids and there was lots of screaming etc. She is 7, will be 8 in July and while I knew this was a possibility I decided to see how she did first with the club. Anyway, when I took her in today I explained to them what she said and they suggested I move her up to the lab, which I did. She has been there for a couple of hours and I'm getting ready to go get her so we'll see how she liked it. I'll let you know!

Tomorrow off to St.Martin. I'm looking forward to it, but I have to say that I have loved the sea days. I thought it might get a little dull but not so. It's been glorious!! We are planning to go to the butterfly farm, do an hour trail ride at Bayside riding club and then Orient beach for a few hours. I hope I manage to get a little shopping in!!

I'll do a formal trip report when I get home, but thought I'd just throw out some info here and there for those who are interested!!

Thanks,
Jenn :sunny:

Sounds like fun Jenn... Hopefully your dgd will enjoy the clubs a bit more now. We had a very similar instance. Enjoy every minute... :cool1: :sunny:

Thanks for posting, were leaving in less than 4 weeks and it makes me feel like I'm already there. Let us know how the lab went, I've got a 7 year old that turns 8 in August and I think she would feel the same way about the club!

I agree with CWF...We will be taking the 7 day eastern on April 2nd. And I am getting soo excited after reading all these threads... This will be the families first Disney Cruise. My kids said I dont need to go because I already know everything that is going to happen...I give them daily tips, comments...etc about new things I read on the threads....

Thanks for taking time out of your vacation and sharing all of this!

:teeth: Wow, you're posts are great! I hope all continues to go well, you are making me want to go right now!!

Have you played Bingo yet? I recommend it! Do you go to Diversions or any of the theme nights in Rockin' Bar D? That's what I miss the most in addition to the adult pool!

Keep those reports comin'!

We will be on the Eastern in October and My DD is going to be 7 at the time and I too was worried about her not having fun with the 5-7 year olds. I am anxious to hear how she liked the lab!!! :flower: I may do the same as you and put DD in the normal age group and ask to move her up if she is bored.

We are also planning to do the 1 hour trail ride at either Bayside or Lucky Stables. Did you do the one that takes the horse for a swim in the Sea?? How did you like it??? Is it worth the money and was it easy to get too??

Sorry about your rough start....Sounds like smooth sailing now...Have a great time!! :sunny: Love reading your reports. :teeth:
