Still Wednesday 31.3.04.....

...so here I am driving around Disney's roads while Mark gets his bearings! this has the advantage of totally confusing me as to which hotel we're going to!!!!

Well, it cant be GF as we've just left MK area......must be Boardwalk or YC....no we're passing there.........ok now I'm confused! Back to MK and I ask Mark if it is indeed Grand Floridian.....yep! OMG !!!!!!! Beaming smile, and my feet do a little tap dance...very strange when you're driving! ...but Im not dressed right!

We pull up at security and they confirm our booking and let us in...phew!......Mark insists on valet parking and from then on its just luxury all the way...bye bye car....hello drinks!

The Grand Floridian is just that........very very GRAND! The atrium is incredible with chandaliers and white & gold everywhere. We are greeted and ushered over to the check in where the nice man sorts out our room....Mark asks if theres any chance of a King size room....yes sir, we have one available! yeehah! So we get a superior room at AP rate.....fab!

Out of the back of the building and pass the pool by the beach with waterfall and slide...looks scrummy....passed the white sands beach, and then the enormous courtyard pool. Into our building and up to the 2nd floor. WOW!!!!!!!! Fantastic room, enormous bed, TV cabinet, sofa & coffee table, dining table & chairs. Wardrobe space is great, with large safe (for all your money & jewels I guess!) and iron etc. The bathroom is very opulent with marble tiling, double sinks, and the inner bathroom has a bath with power shower.

I step onto the balcony and its a great view over the pool. The other side would look across the lake to the Pol but Im well happy

Big hugs for Mark (and thanks to Sam & Deb I hear too)....then we chnage and head for the pool to swim. Its beautiful, theres an enormous spa pool which at the moment is filled with people. there are lots of Brits staying here...when we checked in a Brit was asking if he could change his 2 week booking for 2 rooms rather than 1....imagine how much that costs!!!!!!!

Chilly as we leave the pool....did I mention the robes they leave in your room? Great for wearing to and from the pool! And we shiver our way back to our room and order coffee from Room service...this is the life! Mark then tells me he has booked Citricos for 8.30........dontcha just love him?....we should have gone there on our honeymoon trip but cancelled it so Im really happy to do this for dinner.

Its nice to dress up and as I go out onto the balcony the MK fireworks start up! Just for me, how lovely. I can see them from the balcony, and as they finish I notice Cinderella's coach all lit up, complete with 6 white ponies, standing below..good photo opportunity! Then its off to dinner.

Citricos is on the 2nd floor, next to V & A. It seemed very adult compared to a lot of Disney eateries. Although there were kids there they were very few and far between and well behaved.

Our meal was fantastic, I really feel it was the best overall eating experience Ive had at Disney so far. Our waiter, Bruce was great, very knowledgable and well earned his tip. I had a cosmopolitan and MArk a G & T to start while we looked at the menu. It wasnt massive but full of lovely things, like roast duck, rack of luck encrusted with herbs, scallops, tuna, sword fish etc.

I had crab gateau to start, Mark opted for quail....both were delicious. We'd also gone for the wine package so had a glass of wine at each stage to suit our selection of food. A warm goat cheese salad followed the starter, which we shared, and then I opted for the rack of lamb while Mark had scallops. A great glass of merlot accompanied it and I was already a bit squiffy following my cosmo and chablis! The portions werent enormous but very filling, but Mark decided he could have the cheese course before his dessert too!!

I dont quite know how he managed this as it was also accompanied by 3 small glasses of red wine, one for each cheese!!!!! I had asmall sips and a bit of cheese but I was nearly full and didnt want to spoil the desserts as Bruce had warned me they were lovely.....and he wasnt wrong!

There was creme brulee, lemon cheesecake, chocobanana tart, tiramusu, berry something or other.........a lovely selection.

The desserts really were out of this world! The fruit creme brulee was fantastic, with white & dark chocolate sticks, and MArks tiramasu was the best hed had for a long time I had a glass of sparkling dessert wine with this........beleive me the pot of coffee after this was needed!!!!!!!!

We'd really taken our time with dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it, but now I felt very drunk and very full up! I managed to wobble back to our room and dont rememeber much else!!!!!!! sorry Mark...so much for a romantic night...dont get me drunk next time!!!!!!

A lovely evening, lovely hotel, lovely dinner...night night...hic!

:wave2:

Ooh! I get an honourable mention in this one! :jumping1:

It sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm so glad you enjoyed Citricos - I know just what you mean about the wine pairings. We did the same at V&As (after a loosener or two in Mizner's) and, if I didn't have the menu, I wouldn't have a clue what we ate!

Grand Floridian - yeah. It is lovely here. I am not too keen on Citrico's myself but I am glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you both had a wonderful time ~ Grand Floridian is such a beautiful hotel.

Thanks for these wonderful reports UKAngel. Sounds like you are having a great time. Becky sounds so much fun.......

PS These reports are really helping whilst I count down this SLOW countdown timer!!!::yes::
