We've promised Becky a lie in this morning and plenty of time to prepare herself for Slipknot tonight........lol

Mark & I are of to Ak today with his sister & co, while Mum & Dad have a lazy morning then go shopping. Go for our usual swim then we're ready for AK at 8.40...funny how early we can be when we're not waiting for Becky!

Its a very easy trip to AK from the villa, esp with the Sherbeth Road shortcut....so glad we knew about it! Takes only 10 mins and we're parking. Great having APs too so no parking fee!

Once we're inside the park we march commando style straight to the Safari....see we've done this before......do it first while the animals are awke and queues arent bad! hmmmm.........well the queue was enormous but we did see loads of animals! Im sure theyve changed the queing for this, and the ride seems longer too.

We saw plenty of elephants, warthogs, impala, giraffe etc etc and the hippos were lovely! Jamie didnt seem that impressed but he loved the cheetahs

Off to Tusker house for breakfast after this and we all eat well. Its a nice place for breakfast

Then its across continents to Asia and the Khali River Rapids which has no wait. We get nicely soaked but not drenched like the poor man opposite us in the boat! Just as well as Im not sure how Jamie would have taken that!

Mark & I leave the others after this and have a lovely wander round, looking at where the new ride will be, Expedition Everest. Says it wont open til 2006 so thats something fort he future!

Managet o buy 2 Tinkerbell tshirts so Im well happy On our way out we bump into Shaun & ALison and the girls, who are also just leaving. Its lunch time now and VERY hot. Its a small world! We all chat and get the tram back to the car park, we'll be seeing more of them all next week

Back home where we cant wait to get in the pool as we're very hot & bothered by now. To our suprise Becky decides to join us! yay! I cant beleive this but we all have the most pferct, fun hour in the pool...just the 3 of us playing about. She's like a different girl!....and she's showing skin! I have to remind her to put a ton of factor 45 on mind you...her skin is so white its almost translucent!!!

Time to get ready for Slipknot now Couple of false starts while Becky decides that the corset wont go with the skirt etc etc but eventually we're ready at 5pm...yes I know the show doesnt start til 7.30 but she has to queue! The 6 inch PVC platform boots look so cool and I wish we had a photo! Is this cool rock chick the same girl who was just frolicking around in the water??

Its a quick drive to USF and we opt for preferred aprking as its only $4 with an AP. Think it might be useful on the way out. See...I can even drive in the I4 at night...arent you impressed!

HRL to pick up tickets and look at the massive queue thats already in place. Mainly youngsters, looking pretty 'normal' in jeans and black tshirts so Becky stands out a bit! (which of course she loves) We leave her there with the rest of the mob and go in search of food and drink.

margeritaville for us...still no alcohol though .........I have a 'virgin' margerita instead which is nice. Then we share crab, shrimp and mushroom dip, then I have steak & shrimp with mash & veg.....wow! lovely! mark opts for fresh grouper, which is blackened and has caribbean sauce

Key lime pie for Mark afterwards finsishes him off while Im already stuffed....how am I supposed to jump around now?!!!!

Walk around to try to and walk off some food then into HRL at 7.30. Marks miffed as they dont ask him for ID when he gets his wristband to drink! (Good job I didnt want one)

Its packed inside, much busier than the last gig we went to there. Its completely sold out and we had been offered way over the odds for out tickets outside.....I was sorely tempted!!!!

Found a good palce at the back by the wall where I could stand on a step and see I dont do well in the middle of crowds so tend to stand back. I knew Becky was in the middle of it all and crossed my fingfers shed be careful. I dont worry too much as she's been to so many gigs, in far larger crowds than this with much tougher people!

Watched the first band (rubbish....did they just play one long song??), then Chimera (loud) who were pretty good, then fear factory (louder)........then entertained by some guy hanging heavy objects off his piercings!! yes it was a s weird as it sounds!!!!!!!

Also encountered Mad Wendy from Ipsich, whod moved to the states as a bride 18 years ago and told us her life story.......hugging me every so often as she was sooooooooo pleased to meet a fellow Brit! Very exciteable and very mad........

So to Slipknot (loudest)....well, what can I say? Its not the first time Ive seen them, I saw them at reading a while ago, but this was such a small venure it was a totally different experience! Great show, we lvoed it and got very caught up in the atmosphere. Good job becky couldnt see her Mum! I love live music and this was very cool!

They did loads of old faves and some new stuff from their new album, but The climax was Wait & Bleed ......

After the gig we met up with one very happy teenager...who had very sore feet!!!! You try standing for 6 hours on those boots!!!

Drinks all round and Mark bought Becky hers in a Sponge Bob beaker much to her delight! Home to bed listening to Slipknot on the cars CD of course. Its 1 am we're totally knackered but its been a great day...roll on tomorrow....MK here we come!

:wave2:

Did you plan the trip around the Slipknot gig, or did you just get lucky? We've been to HRL once - it's such a great venue, but they hardly ever seem to have anyone decent there. Did Becky make any friends or (as in your case) meet any weirdos?! ;)

My DD was disapointed to miss that gig as we left a week before it sounds like u had a great time:jester:

HRL is a great venue, doesn't matter where you stand you can still hear the bands great :D I saw Queens of the Stone Age there in March 2003 and loved it, it was fantastic :Pinkbounc Great day, can't wait to read the rest.
