Live from the Jan 20 Magic

Hi its bywheels sister kjblovesdisney again. Just wanted to give 'stuffed with fluff' info on the regatta. DO IT!! It was really one of the most fabulous excursions I have done. You get picked up at the cruise ship, take a short walk and then take a water taxi kind of boat to the sailboat. Yo are divided into two groups ( or three depending on the numbers.0 I did the first excursion of the day. After us there were three groups, we had two. We sailed the Stars and Stripes. You are assigned jobs. I was part of the five who did the jib crank. (It had a special name but I can't remember it) There were quite a few people who were doing it for the second or third time with my group. It was the best, and really worth the money. Everyone can play a role in the sailing of the boat either an active one or as a support person ie bartender and timer. Even that job was really important to the outcomeof the race.
You will have the best time ever.
My suggestions; Go out early. It was really baking in the sun by the time we were done. Sunscreen is imperative!!! If you are wearing your bathing suit, wear shorts and a t-shirt over them. The deck is rough for good footing so it can scrape your skin. I wore sandals (Tevas) and they worked out well.
They supply water and other beverages on the boat.
There is a gift shop at the end and a chance to purchase the photo they take of you and the rest of the crew in action. REALLY fabulous!!!!

Day 6

Stuffed w/fluff

Some of the movies were: Pirates of the Carribean 2, Shaggy Dog, The Prestige, Deja Vu, Primeval, Santa Clause Three, and ?Step in Out?

The house band was once again NTWine - but they said this is their last week - I think there will be another band starting the Jan 27th cruise

Day 4

We arrived in St Maarten a bit late. Apparently the night before they had to get one of the passengers off because of illness. We were there by 8am anyway.

I was on the cruise with you. When did they get the sick passenger off? I didn't even realize all that was going on.

It was actually very early Monday morning - stopped at 4AM or so to unload passenger to Grand Turk. They used one of the lifeboats - crew did not say what the problem was, just a "medical emergency" The lifeboat returned around 5AM - I saw them winch it up and unload an empty stretcher, so I bet it was pretty serious. What was I doing up at 4AM you ask? Stay tuned for my trip report coming up as soon as I have time to finish it.
