Hello, I'm new here...so could someone answer a really dumb question? What is the Repo cruise? Thanks Barb

It is the cruise that is REPOsitioning the Disney Magic from California back to Florida. It is currently in the Panamal Canal hopefully nearing the Gatun locks.

Hi Barb!

Welcome! The Disney Magic is "Repo"sitioning back to Florida. It is traversing the Panama Canal as we speak.

In May it went from Florda to California! And I was there!!!

It will arrive at Port Canaveral on Saturday

Hi!!!!!

I've been very busy... and will tell you all about it in a minute... but first I wanted to give you the latest on Gatun locks times.

MAGIC will be entering Gatun locks around 1630 and leaving around 1850. According to the ACP website Gatun locks camera cannot be mover around, so we should be able to see the Magic around 1745.

Ok.. interpreting for those military time challenged folks :)

Eastern time (1 hour ahead of panama) enters the locks at 5:30 pm and should be on the camera around 6:45 pm??? or would that be 5:45 pm?

Thanks for the pics!

You have to keep refreshing this link but some of us (myself included) were having trouble with the PanCanal site earlier today so this may work better.

Thanks for the repost of the links. Fortunately this time I may get to watch it real time, ATM I have the main site up and running. I downloaded Java again and re-installed it! LOL :cloud9:

Hi Alvaro
Thanks for keeping us, on the other side of world, up to date with what is happening on the Magic today. Can you get a message to Captain Tom to put his foot down I want to see her go through Gatun Locks before I go to bed. It will be 23.45 here in the UK and I have to go to work tomorrow.

Debbie...I too calculated 6:45 pm for EST....because Panama does not recognize Daylight Savings Time....5:45 for CST, 4:45 for MST and 3:45 PST.

This morning when I could *finally* disconnect from the PC, grab the kids and ran to Miraflores locks. Got there at 0830 but a security guard would not let us in (they openned at 0900). So we went back a couple of miles to where the MAGIC was and took the first (very small) picture with my cell phone and emailed it to Kelli.

Got back to Miraflores at 0859... and they let us in (there were about 20 cars lined up waiting to enter)

By the time we made it to the roof the MAGIC was starting to enter the locks. The pilot on board was taking it very easy... so it took longer than usual.

I would alternate between my digital camera and the cell phone, so I could start sending pictures w/o having to wait until I got home later.

The MAGIC was not even half way in when it started raining... guess what... I did not bring an umbrella, so me and the kids look at each other and decided *what's a little bit of rain gonna do to us!!!* :rotfl:

I shot a total of 35 pictures with the digital camera and about 5 or 6 with the cell phone. Only problem was that, trying to get a better shot I did zoom in with the camera and pictures did not come up as good. Anyway, people on the ship should be able to recognize themselves based on the location or the clothes they were wearing.

We left when she started towing out of Miraflores, hoping that we would have time to go home, pick up DW, get some breakfast and go back to the North end of Pedro Miguel locks... but we did not :confused3

Hope everyone is enjoying this transit so far... and stay tuned for the Gatun locks passage. (Need to get me a REAL digital camera.... :rotfl2: )

But is it really an hour from the time they enter the lock to when we see her on the camera????

I thought that the one we see is the one closest to the lake?

Deb

Debbie...I understood that the camera was on our first lock so it will be the Magic's 3rd lock right before they leave to enter the Altlantic....

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Alvaro...

Ooppss! That'll be a tough one... they won't be at Gatun until around 2am your time..... go to bed NOW.... set up your alarm... :goodvibes

Sorry about the military times.... Panama time (you have that one already figured out) should enter Gatun locks around 4:30pm and leave around 6:50pm... visible on the cam around 5:45pm

You're right Elaine. The camera is pointing towards the middle and lower chambers of Gatun... the last 2 of the 3 chambers in Gatun.

oh how cool. DH would say I'm obsessed! :rotfl:

Whats the order. Bridge Gatun and Miraflores?
