LIVE from the Boardwalk - my BWVcam is back!

We're here in our BWV boardwalk view villa and the camera is set up! We'll have the camera on showing live streaming video (and audio!) as long as our internet access stays up until we check out the morning of May 7th.

I have the audio setting pretty low quality so it doesn't suck all the bandwidth up. If you want to chat with others watching at the same time, you can hit the little talk bubble icon at the bottom right of the window. I'm using the same software I used for the AKV cam in December, so it's LIVE video and not just stills. ENJOY!!

Hey folks! Just got back from Epcot and some mouse boating and the machine had rebooted and the internet was down. We think there may have been a power outage in the room while we were out. But it's all back now!

As for those who wonder how we do it - very simple actually. We bring a wireless router, which plugs into the wired connection in the wall. We connect to this from our laptop (though you could just use the regular wired connection if you can position the computer close enough to the internet connection an and outlet while still having enough cable to run the camera outside. I then connect an ordinary webcam (a Logitech OrbitCam this time, though I've used my external Apple iSight before too) and use ustream.tv to broadcast the live feed. I happen to have a domain and hosting, so I put the embed code on a page there, but you can also use ustream's address and host it with them if you don't have that setup.

If anybody wants more details, feel free to PM me and I'll answer when I can. We're heading back over to Epcot for dinner but you all should have a great view of the Boardwalk and Illuminations tonight! Enjoy.

We are going to HAVE to get a sticky made of this so that we can (hopefully) always have someone somewhere at a DVC resort doing this. wouldn't this be a KOOL way to look forward to your next trip home?
