Hey everyone!!!
I didn't want NCRedding to think I was spying but while I was at the internet cafe and got up I saw the familiar DIS board logo and had to go over and introduce myself!!
We are having a wonderful time....they had a 12:01 showing last night of Ladder 49 and it was quite crowded....they held it in the WDW theatre. Today is sunny, hot and windy.....
Costa Maya was interesting, if nothing else. It was a very pretty plaza with lots of palm trees and is basically set up as a circular shopping plaza....many of the same stores as other ports....I wondered where these people live that ran some of the shops as most were not mexican. The pool did look inviting but the beach was not conducive to swimming at all. When someone had described it as rocky I thought they meant that the sand was rocky...when I saw it in person I realize what they meant....there is sand with chairs but then the whole edge where the water comes ashore is solid rock....almost what lava looks like when hardened....there is no way to go in the water there. After you finish the circle of shopping it pretty much leads you right into a restaurant/bar area....we were so darn hot we just wanted to get back to the ship and hop in the pool but there were many people eating/drinking. There was also a tram that brought up and down the pier to the shopping area.
We had two other ships in port with us...the Holland American Zuirderdam and the
RCCL Enchantment of the Seas....didn't see any naked people, darn...I always miss the good stuff LOL!!!
We have met so many really, really nice people in the boarding line, in the pool, in the shops, etc. I must have told at least 10 people who have all cruised
DCL a few times and never heard of the DIS!!! Can you believe it???!!!
Disney Dreams made me teary eyed again, still after 11 times...I totally agree that this Anne Marie had the MOST annoying voice.
Ladder 49 was a good movie...with the time adjust we did not get back to our staterooms until 2:45 am!!! They are also showing it again at 1:00 and 11:00 pm today.
Pirate night was great....cruise staff did a wonderful job and then DCL had a beautiful buffet set up on deck and it was themed wonderfully with pirate stuff like banners, ships, etc. We did not get to any theme nights in the clubs this time around but are just taking it easy and relaxing!!! We do want to go to British Pub Night tonight!!!
At the return cruiser party I think the Captain said there were 600-700 CC members onboard. He talked a bit about the new itineraries but said nothing about new ships. He did say Grand Cayman would probably not be accepting tourists until mid-November and that
Castaway Cay was hit very hard as well and he hoped they could get back there soon....but no date mentioned.
Even though guest service had a sign up that said ship was full you can see all the empty tables in the dining rooms...our servers Catalin and Iso said many people cancelled but the 10/2 cruise was full. Nick was our head server and he is very visible and helpful....he has come to talk to us at our table every night. We feel DCL has done the best they could with what they had to work with and everyone onboard seems to happy!!!
We definately are sailing back into Port Canaveral tomorrow. There was a message on the cabin phones that if you had a personal car or were flying home from Fort Lauderdale to contact guest services....I suppose they were going to help people with alternate arrangements.
The Cove Cafe has added some more offerings....including a Chai tea which I am about to order.....talk to everyone when we get home!!!! Happy sailing!!!
P.S.....I laugh everytime I sign on the internet cafe that all I have to do is hit the drop down list in the address bar and guess what is there.....the url for the DIS....I have been on 4 different computers and the same thing on all!!! Just goes to show how DIS'ers are onboard all the time!!!
