Live From the 9/27 Magic

Hi Marcy,

Thanks for your advice last Friday to get to Florida before Jeanne hits. In hindsight, my idea of flying into Tampa on Sunday would have been horrible as Jeanne was pounding Tampa then.

So, the ZitoFamily is on the Magic (docked in Cozumel) and enjoying the cruise with you.

I'd like to personally say thanks so if you see my post, we're in 6106.

JanDave, had brunch at Palo's yesterday and Ann Marie was our server. We have a picture for you so send us an email and when we return, we'll send it to you.

Thanks again,

ZitoFamily (DH- Calvin)

We made it onboard as well. We got the call about the delay on Friday afternoon while walking from the Swan to the Boardwalk. Member Services found us a room at OKW where we rode out the storm. The transportation mess on Monday was ridiculous- at least someone could have kept us updated but everytime we asked a question we were met by blank stares from the DCL rep.

Once onboard all has been great though. I haven't met anyone yet but I do pass the ZitoFamily's door on my way to my cabin. Great photo by the way.

What upset me the most is that there was no organization in lining people up...it was a free for all. A line was formed by pax, not by DCL and people were cutting the line, forming new lines, etc....it was nuts. I could not understand why DCL did not have stantions set up for lines....they did have the experience of PE from the last hurricane.

I don't know why DCL didn't try to set up a line, but since this was not DCL's terminal they probably had to make do with whatever terminal they were borrowing. I think they even had to wait to get access to the building until the previous ship there left port.

It sounds like you were able to keep a good outlook though. Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise! :sunny:

Zitofamily,

Glad to hear that you all made it aboard. Hope your having a fantastic time!

The Lepore Family

I am here also. Did not have to bad a wait anywhere. Got on the boat at about 8:20. Got to go eat now. Parrot cay.

Thx to all for the updates....we were all thinking of you....thx to Marcy for her honesty and MJ, sorry about everything...I remember your last post when you were leaving......I KNOW you are having a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is the sailing weather to all......what a crazy September we have had........best wishes to all for a great remainder of your vacation.......we're still jealous!!!!!

Hey Rose!! did you see my post above? I asked if anyone has seen you two. I hope you and Janet are having a great time :) can't wait to hear all about your trip.:sunny:

Marcy, if you checkin with the Boards, I want to know if you got your dining time changed.

Best wishes to all that are sailing. I know the CMs were looking forward to having guests. The ship just isn't the same without the children (of all ages).

Oh i am so so so so so so so so so so JEALOUS!!!!!!!! This could be a problem. I think I need som therapy or something. So when do vacation blues end?

Today we're in Puerto Costa Maya, which is sort of a Mexican theme park built in the middle of the jungle about 90 miles south of Cancun. Nobody actually lives here, but there is shopping, restaurants, bars, a saltwater pool, an ampitheater with folk dancers, and guys dressed up as Mayans. It's bizarre.

There was a great pirates-themed party last night that began at dinner and was carried thoughout the ship for the rest of the evening.

The weather is great (if you don't mind sunny and HOT), and the ship is beautiful. We're going to the movies in a few minutes.

If you shop in Cozemel no reason to go here. Same shops only less of them. Seems like higher prices also. Not a good replacement for other ports but will have to do. Royal Cariibean right beside us. Occasional nude person in the staterooms can be seen on that boat. Ha ha! We leave at 4:30. Lunch was American at Topsiders buffet. Fried chicken, ribs, and peel shrimp.

Darn, I mised the naked people- or maybe I should be thankful. I'm glad someone explained Costa Maya- we lasted 37 minutes before heading back onboard.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for checking on us. We're having a great time and buying lots of pin. Surprising huh?

Just met MJ37 while reading the boards. We have had a great 2 days, with hot sunny weather. Staff is still wonderful, although we have not met our room attendant yet.

Cozumel: grabbed a taxi and went to Paradise Beach, which I absolutely loved--food was wonderful. The waiters really worked to make sure we had a good time.

Costa Maya: took the Disney excursion to Chachoben (sp) and really enjoyed it. The ruins are wonderful, and our guide was terrific (Dianna). The area is very poor and very much like a jungle or rainforest.

Food continues to be wonderful, and I love the entertainment, especially the cabaret shows. Ann Marie on Disney Dreams really does have an annoying voice--I prefer the actress on the Wonder.

The deck party last night was so fun!! I saw the cutest family with dad in front doing a line dance--all three girls were in their PJs with mom ending up the line--so adorable.

Glad you're having fun!!
Lot's of pins = fun! :)
I was looking around to see if anyone was in WDW today. 4 surprise pins were released! I hope they are still there for you come Sunday.

Hey everyone!!!

I didn't want NCRedding to think I was spying but while I was at the internet cafe and got up I saw the familiar DIS board logo and had to go over and introduce myself!!

We are having a wonderful time....they had a 12:01 showing last night of Ladder 49 and it was quite crowded....they held it in the WDW theatre. Today is sunny, hot and windy.....

Costa Maya was interesting, if nothing else. It was a very pretty plaza with lots of palm trees and is basically set up as a circular shopping plaza....many of the same stores as other ports....I wondered where these people live that ran some of the shops as most were not mexican. The pool did look inviting but the beach was not conducive to swimming at all. When someone had described it as rocky I thought they meant that the sand was rocky...when I saw it in person I realize what they meant....there is sand with chairs but then the whole edge where the water comes ashore is solid rock....almost what lava looks like when hardened....there is no way to go in the water there. After you finish the circle of shopping it pretty much leads you right into a restaurant/bar area....we were so darn hot we just wanted to get back to the ship and hop in the pool but there were many people eating/drinking. There was also a tram that brought up and down the pier to the shopping area.

We had two other ships in port with us...the Holland American Zuirderdam and the RCCL Enchantment of the Seas....didn't see any naked people, darn...I always miss the good stuff LOL!!!

We have met so many really, really nice people in the boarding line, in the pool, in the shops, etc. I must have told at least 10 people who have all cruised DCL a few times and never heard of the DIS!!! Can you believe it???!!!

Disney Dreams made me teary eyed again, still after 11 times...I totally agree that this Anne Marie had the MOST annoying voice.

Ladder 49 was a good movie...with the time adjust we did not get back to our staterooms until 2:45 am!!! They are also showing it again at 1:00 and 11:00 pm today.

Pirate night was great....cruise staff did a wonderful job and then DCL had a beautiful buffet set up on deck and it was themed wonderfully with pirate stuff like banners, ships, etc. We did not get to any theme nights in the clubs this time around but are just taking it easy and relaxing!!! We do want to go to British Pub Night tonight!!!

At the return cruiser party I think the Captain said there were 600-700 CC members onboard. He talked a bit about the new itineraries but said nothing about new ships. He did say Grand Cayman would probably not be accepting tourists until mid-November and that Castaway Cay was hit very hard as well and he hoped they could get back there soon....but no date mentioned.

Even though guest service had a sign up that said ship was full you can see all the empty tables in the dining rooms...our servers Catalin and Iso said many people cancelled but the 10/2 cruise was full. Nick was our head server and he is very visible and helpful....he has come to talk to us at our table every night. We feel DCL has done the best they could with what they had to work with and everyone onboard seems to happy!!!

We definately are sailing back into Port Canaveral tomorrow. There was a message on the cabin phones that if you had a personal car or were flying home from Fort Lauderdale to contact guest services....I suppose they were going to help people with alternate arrangements.

The Cove Cafe has added some more offerings....including a Chai tea which I am about to order.....talk to everyone when we get home!!!! Happy sailing!!!

P.S.....I laugh everytime I sign on the internet cafe that all I have to do is hit the drop down list in the address bar and guess what is there.....the url for the DIS....I have been on 4 different computers and the same thing on all!!! Just goes to show how DIS'ers are onboard all the time!!!

MJ

I believe this is a record for live reports from several different people on the same cruise. And to think - so cruises have no live reports.

Tomorrow is the day for my 10th cruise.

Hi to all from our last day (at sea)!

CM_Mom: our head waiter could not change our dining time, but he has found a table in first seating for us the past two nights -- he checks to see who is at Palo's and gives us their table. Very, very nice move on his part. Definitely the best head waietr we've ever had.

We LOVED Costa Maya yesterday. I'm not sure why we loved it so much, but it was very relaxing and laid back, with none of the Cozumel pushiness. I loved Cozumel when i was childless and went to the ruins, but I did not like it at all when we just stayed in town.

We ate at Palo's last night and requested our (hot) brunch waietr, Sasha. He was more amazing at dinner than brunch, if that is possible.

DD1 did the princess signings this morning -- she's still on a princess high.

To the Zito family -- I saw one of your daughters in the elevator yesterday having a blast with her friends (sisters?). I was going to tell her to say hi, but I didn't want to stomp on her uber preteen coolness. :)

We're exhausted and fat, but sad that tonight is the last night. I'll post more when I get back, but now I'm off to play shuffleboard. Ah 35 going on 80.

Marcy

P.S. We also saw the naked people when we docked. Actually, my older daughter did -- "Daddy! Look! That man in the window! I see his *****!!!!"

Marcy,

What is the name of your Head Server? He definitely sounds like the best that I've heard about - or seen - in a long, long time. Very nice of him to go above & beyond to accomodate you.::yes::

Last day at sea. Did not get up for breakfast. We went to the 70's night party and then dessert party in Lumiers. Lots of food. Today had lunch at Lumiers good. Went to the 1:00 Ladder 49. Very good. Shopping on ship today. Trying to get info from guest services to see if we have to pay for bus transportion back to AKL since we had to park there. Letter we received seems to say that. Line is long. Going to variety show tonight. May not get back on here till I get home on Monday. Two days in the parks with daughter and granddaughter.
