Maria, Mickey Hugger and Kris--The baking and cooking sound very yummy!!

I am saving my energy in the kitchen for the 2 weeks in dec/jan when Chuck's parents will be staying with us!! I need to rest now because they like to eat in and invite company while they are here!! :confused3

Regarding 2007, we "prebooked" on board for the thanksgiving week cruise. Typically that is a good week for us to get away from reality!! :sunny:

Lisa,

Yes the results of baking are yummy, but I'm not doing as much as I normally do as I just now got my energy back. (It took two weeks to recuperate from the cruise.) I'm not complaining though. It was the best vacation we've ever had! Sounds as if Chuck's family is going to keep you busy, and sounds too, as if it will be a lot of fun. :earsgirl:

Wish I'd brought some of the DCL Palo chefs home with me! I'd love to serve the stollen with berries and whipped cream!

Lisa,it sounds like you will have a fun and busy time with Chuck's parents.WE will be having a full house ourselves as there will be 17 of us together on Christmas day and throughout that weekend.

I am sure we will rebook for Thanksgiving 2007 when we are there for Thanksgiving 2006.I agree Thanksgiving week is a great week to get away from reality for us too.

Mickeyhugger,You would have to mention that stollen<G>!I love it!I wish I had the recipe, but then again I doubt it would come out the same.

Since we are talking food here, With first cold spell here comes GUMBO! I made my best pot of gumbo ever today, I do believe. Chicken, sausage, and the secret ingredient, sausage that I get only in Breaux Bridge, La. It is a spicy combination of chicken and pork that is great in gumbo or on the grill.

Scotty, could you beam some of that Gumbo over here to me. It sounds good!

TCD

OOHHH, that gumbo could warm us up now.

Do you serve any sides with it, (cornbread, biscuits, hushpuppies?)

Send a large pot of it this way. (Along with some hot bread and a gallon of sweet tea.) :earsgirl:

I found this information from a DISer on another thread.

According to an article written on a French Tourism Website in regard to the recently held Top Cruise convention in Marseille, France Disney has possibly committed to cruising the Mediterranean in 2007.

Since I was't sure if I could link to the French website I posted the information to mine. Here is the story after I translated it from French to English.

Maria, what are you baking?

I made some 'butter crunch' (similar to Heath Bars) last night to put in tins for gifts, and the famous Hershey 'peanut blossoms' (Rachel's favorite Christmas cookies.)

And Kris, what else do you put in your stew? Would it drive all of the DHs crazy if we posted some of our Christmas recipes here? :Pinkbounc

I love the food talk, especially the sweets! I am a sucker for baked goods and it shows, unfortunately.

Well, our company is gone, we had a full house. Lots of relatives. Thank goodness, I don't have to have Christmas. My 2 sisters and I have certain holidays at our houses and I have Easter. Lucky for me, I didn't have to have Easter this past year because guess what --- I was on a CRUISE over Easter! This was a big year for holiday cruising for me :-)

Anyway, the stew has a tomato based sauce with diced onions, basil, garlic and chopped tomatoes. Sirloin steak chunks, "golden delite" potatoes, carrots, and green beans. Put it all in a covered pot in the oven at 275 for about 5 hours. I like to serve it with sourdough bread and butter. Its great on winter day!

Willie, that gumbo sounds delicious.I am ready for a bowl right about now!

Jeff,it really doesn't surprise me at all if DCL goes to Med.I would love to see them do it.I would assume they would do like they did for CA only 8 trips there a year. The whole article makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Kris, the stew you make sounds delicious too.I am a sucker for baked goods too.

Everyone is making a big fuss this year for Christmas.I told dh it goes to show why I belief I am going to love cruising every Thanksgiving. It was great being on the cruise with you all as well as not having to worry about company, cooking and the rest of the stuff that goes with the holiday.

OK, enough of this cooking talk. Let's talk about our cruise. I need to think about it on cold days like today (49 driving in this morning!). Take a look at this photo:

sailaway.jpg

Let's see. We have Mrs. TCD there with the ubiquitous Corona bottle in her hand. It looks like my oldest DD is doing some type of dance. Don't you love the sea of green? Also in this photo, we see Mary K (Mrs. KennyK), 5J John, Charlie and even our lurker Abel. I don't recognize the lady there in the pink with her back to the camera. Another lurker? There is also a guy in a green shirt there in the backgroud, behind Charlie, that I can't place. Of course, as big a life we have the Iceman. How tall is Chuck anyway?

Over on Dubbya's and Lampy's new thread they have resorted to name calling and talking smack. They have given Dubbya a new nick-name: "Scotty."

Well, that nick-naming got me to thinking about something. On the first night of our cruise, Mrs. TCD kept asking me who was who. As you know, she is not a big Disboard fan, and was kind of skeptical about the whole t-shirt and Dis meets thing. Anyway, Mrs. TCD is asking about people, and she asks: "Who is the Sha-Na-Na guy?"

Sha-Na-Na?

Do you remember them?

Do you remember Bowser?:

Now, this is not me calling any names, I'm just repeating what Mrs. TCD said.

You have to admit, she might have something there.

Imagine Bowser in a green shirt, and you will see what I am talking about. But, I am not calling anybody a name, OK?

This cold weather (12 this morning) has frozen my brain, I'm sure that's it. I'm not getting the Bowser thing. I can't think anymore, it hurts.

Kris:

Chuck = Bowser.

TCD

Sometimes cold weather freezes my brain, too. We have had some dangerously cold weather here lately.Yup, we had it reach 39 last week.
Anyway, Yeah, yeah, I see Bowser. Even more clearly, I see big Chuck driving up from Weston to enter in the "All Lawyer Smack Down" with your firm. Like I told John. It is not smart to make fun of large aggressive people. Unless you think you will never see them again. Then, all's fair!

Now, about this thing I read a few pages back about TCD being a REPUBLICAN?

Do your partners know?!!!???

help me here, DIS Boarders. We need a nickname for TCD. I will post some pics, and take suggestions.

Personally, I was calling him "George Jones" while on the cruise.

Go ahead and ask why.....

In an effort to keep up us on the top of the boards, Willie, please post pictures so that we can give TCD a nickname.

OK, DON'T ASK! I'm telling anyway.

The country music singer George Jones became famous for not showing up at his scheduled concerts. He was always too loaded to perform. So he became known as "No Show" George Jones.
So, when Andrew was not showing up for Dis meets, I was referring to him as No Show George Jones.
