Live from SSR!!

Have a great time at AK today! I'll be thinking about how much fun you are having while I'm here typing away at work... :surfweb: tHanks for the trip report too.. I'm making it a goal to buy DVC sometime in 2008 and as of right now I'm thinking I'd like my home resort to either be SSR, VWL, or BWV so i'm learning as much as I can about those three destinations... so this is very helpful!

thanks again! :goodvibes

That might be an Illuminations Dessert Party. :cloud9: Not sure how far in advance those need to be booked, but any group can arrange one and split the cost (and they are fabulous!!)

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us!

Thank you for that information. I definately must look into that. It's not often DH will ask to do something so you know I have to get this for the next trip!! :thumbsup2

Also, corporations and organizations can also rent those spaces for evening events. I had a conference at the Boardwalk in February and there was an early evening reception in the World Showcase - at least, there was supposed to be until rain moved it indoors.

Morning - 78 and sunny this Thursday morning!

The Spa - it was wonderful. I had one of the best massages that I've ever had. Megan was my massage theripist and she was wonderful. DVC members receive a 20% discount so that definately helped! :thumbsup2

A slight curve has been thrown into our vacation; my knee is bothering me. I have arthritis in the knees and so far up until lastnight everything was great. So today is a pool/relax day and hopefully with the help of "drugs" I'll be good for tonight and my last day tomorrow. As DH said "we just walk slow" and take our time. Bummer....I can't begin to tell you how upset I am with this. Oh well....:confused3

Well time to get breakfast and soak up some of this sunshine. Have a good day everyone; no matter where you are.

Enjoy the sunshine! Hopefully your knee will be feeling better after a bit of rest.

Mrs WDW!

What size room are you in? If you find anything out about the Illuminations Dessert Party please let us know. Have a great vacation.

I have had 2 knee injuries, one a torn MCL...ibuprofen for the inflamation, ice and an ace bandage! Don't be fooled by "pain killers" because they will not help the inflammation only the perception of pain. All that walking causes my knee to get bad too. I'll be ready..Feel better!

I'm in a 1 BR overlooking the quiet pool at Congress Park and DTD. Love it!!

Well it turns out the Dessert Party and Dinner Party groups we saw were part of The Grand Gatherings. A normal guest cannot set that up according to the person I spoke to. I'm calling MS when I get home and find out more about this

Knee is much better. I have arthritis in both knees and of course I was feeling great so I stopped my meds. And like you said with all this walking it flared up. But a day of rest and my meds took care of that!!:thumbsup2

:sad2: The time just goes too fast here in WDW. We wait and plan with such anticiation and POOF!!! It's all over so fast.:confused3

But DH and I had a wonderful vacation. Yesterday I sat at the pool all morning to rest this knee then we hit another movie; Transformers. GREAT!!!;) And today we went to the MK and this afternoon I went to the pool for the last time until I return in October for the Food and Wine Festival.

Right now the washer and dryer are running their last loads :lmao: and tomorrow it's back to New York City and the "real world".

Thank you all for sharing my vacation and I hope I was able to answer any questions. Until the next time....may all your wishes come true!!! :tinker:

Now don't be sad. Look at it this way: you're that much closer to your *NEXT* WDW vacation!!!! :woohoo:

As far as the Grand Gathering...... that only requires 8 people - so if you can interest another family or 2, it's a Grand Gathering!! :yay:

Safe travels home and thanks again for sharing your vacation with us! I'll be there in exactly one week, but I won't be able to share - no laptop. :sad1:

OT..
I just realized you are from the Bronx! I grew up there, in the Kingsbridge/Riverdale section. My sister and I just drove around the old haunts last week! I went to St John's grammar which is now a public school.

What a great view! Glad you had a good time and didn't let your knee bother you too much!:goodvibes

Glad you had a great time! We, too, were at SSR from 7/15-7/20, also in CP. This was our 1st stay there and it was beautiful. It took a little getting used to the distances between CP and the main pool area, but the quiet pool at CP was very nice and relaxing with the view of DTD! We were there with our family of 4 and my DSis and her family. DH and I will be going at the end of March/first of April and I think we'll request the Springs section to be a little closer in to the main areas. :)

Oh I know I shouldn't be sad. But sometimes I can't help it. ;) But you're right....only 86 more days and I'll be back for the Food and Wine Festival! :cool1:

Yes; born and raised here!! My best friend lives in Riverdale on Netherland Avenue. Her DS and my DS grew up together. They both just graduated HS and now in the Fall will head off to college. Both are staying local; DS is going to Fordham University and I forget where my friend's son is going.

Where are you now?

I don't know if I've been lucky all these years or the rules have changed about luggage and weight. But yesterday when we were checking in at the Airline Desk at SSR, they weighed our luggage. This is the absolute first time this has ever happened. And, we were over the 50 lb limit per bag....way over. It was just the two of us and we always bring 1 big bag. Not too much clothing; I'm learning you don't need alot if you have the washer in the room. Not too many souviners; so I don't really know what pushed us over the limit. We had no problem coming out.

Anyway......;) After hearing this and now they can't check our bag in at the resort, I was a little stressed. DH and I went into Artist Pallete for coffee and we're talking about the weight limit per bag and he looks at me and says "per bag" and I say "yes". He turns around and see's the Walt Disney World luggage and we actually bought a small carry on bag; and voila!!! No more weight issue; they check us in and I came home with a new piece of luggage; from WDW no less. Ok...we overpaid, and it has a picture of the Castle on it in bright colors. But so what....this will be MY vacation bag!

Ok..time to make coffee and hit the grocery store. Back to reality is quickly setting in. Bye!

I was going to try and load some pictures, but my computer isn't cooperating and I'm tired. :) So we'll give it a shot in the morning. Look at this; it worked. This is the view from our livingroom. DTD and the quiet pool.

Remember this everyone; back in 2007. This is now the view from this very same room, one story up. Original shot was 1745 and the new shot 1645.
