Hi All,

Just wanted to update everyone about the happenings here at PI. Got here around 6:30 tonight. Found out the the AC is at capacity. You can get in line but you are not guaranteed admission this evening. People started getting in line at 10 this morning!

All clubs opened early tonight (6 PM) to accomodate the larger than usual crowd.

Mannequins had a line of about 40 people waiting to get in at 7:30. Comedy Club traffic was heavier than normal but 8 Trax and BET had no lines waiting to get in.

There is live entertainment all over PI and West Side. The waterfront stage behind Mannequins and 8 Trax has entertainment that started at 9 this evening.

There are "street performers" playing sax, guitar and other acts scattered troughout PI and West Side, very similar to the entertainment found at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. Hopefully these street performers are permanent additions in order to make up for the loss of PI.

There are rumours of fireworks sheduled for midnight.

The increased number of security people is noticeable as well at paramedics riding around on bikes. Looks like Disney not taking any chances with guest safety.

Something I never saw before at PI (and I've been here dozens if not hundreds of times) are Disney "suits" (management) all over the place. Some actually riding around on Segways.

That's about all to report right now.

Disney Managers on Segways....what a novel concept lol....but anyways last weekend the stilt walkers were out as well. I'd love to be there tonight watching the last 2 CW shows but since I couldn't be, it was nice to be able to visit one last time on my birthday last Sunday. Hoping the YouTube videos from PI's last night are up soon.

However, I heard there were people in line @ 8am for Adventurers Club. I got there at 5:30 and got in w/ the first wave - I was number 236

Here is what it looked like around 5:30:

Once we got in, it was packed:

I must admit I'm getting too old for staying out so late, so I left after seeing two of the library shows and let someone else in.

I did hop over to see one of the comedy warehouse shows - they brought up a ton of former cast members:

At that point after a very early morning today I headed back to POP Century. I did hear the fireworks at midnight but didn't see them.

They had stopped selling tickets by 11,

Hope everyone had a great time.

Did the moving targets make them harder to throw stuff at?

:sad1: I can't believe the AC is gone !

DBf and I had some great times there.....Kungaloosh !!!!!!

Thanks for posting the pix. :)

Thanks for bringing this to us. We will miss the the AC and Comedy Warehouse.

Kungaloosh!!!

I was trying to see if you caught my friends in line ahead of you. I got a "live" phone call from them standing in line, but they must have been closer to the stairs area. They got in line around 2pm.

They said that Emil, Otis and Hathaway came outside when they were in line, but I thought your picture of Pamelia (aka Yvette when she's the maid) was AWESOME! I am so glad you were able to give me this vicarious glimpse of the club on its closing night.

I'm so sad...I will dearly miss the AC. DH and I discovered the club on our honeymoon and always loved our visits with the zany bunch!

I hope that the AC lives on...somewhere...somehow...

Kungaloosh my fellow Adventurers!

While I thought Pleasure Islands time had passed, the AC was a true gem.

Pi was awesome i went to the last comedy show it was amazing. They did streamers in the audience. THe fireworks show rocked. Who closed mannequins i wanna know what that was like. The adv club ppl came out in the streets after the last hoopla shook everybodys hands thats when it finaly set in for me and ill admit i shed a tear. I did a walk thur at around 12 pm and they had already taken down most of the pi stuff 8 trax had no sign mannequins sign was down it was crazy. They were cleaning out the outside bars :-(. O well i have to say disney let it go in style the fireworks were amazing.

I am soooo sad that AC is closed! :sad2: :sad1: My DH and I LOVED it there and were going to try to go one last time on our trip two weeks ago....but, sadly we couldn't make it there.:sad1:
We will always have our fond memories from that place. :goodvibes

I wonder if Mouse Surplus is going to get any props from Adventurer's club. If they do I'm sure it will be very expensive to buy.

I would think very few items would ever get to that point, because Joe Rohde actually has first dibs on the "artifacts" and such. It would make me sad to see items on Mouse Surplus.

I dont know about u guys but i just got home from my disney trip and i miss pi. :-(

I'm so sad about AC. I watched a couple videos on You Tube and got all teary eyed. I would given anything to be there on the last night.

I wonder if Joe Rhode was there. He loved the AC.

The guys were out earlier but they weren't in costume. They were good enough to visit the line before they reported for work. One was waiting in line with his wife, since they were not permitted to backdoor anybody. She got in, but there were a number of friends and relatives of cast members who couldn't be in line all day and didn't get admitted. Pamelia came out later, after we were let in.

Not true, there were several members in character greeting and interacting with guests in line, 10 to 15 minutes before opening.

I can't read past those pictures, I'm still too emotional. You will be missed PI

Yes, they did, but that was after the beginning of the line was let into the club. I wrote in response to Briar Rosie's post as I am one of the people she talked to. At the time we called Briar Rosie, no costumed characters were present, just the three gentlemen visiting the line (one of them is actually pictured in your photos and he wasn't wearing that). She referred to them by their character names although they were not in character yet.

The cast were wonderful about entertaining the line outside. After the final show they went immediately outside to meet those who were still there, watching on the monitors.
