We arrived yesterday afternoon. Our flight was delayed an hour leaving from IND but we made up a little time from the jetstream. We landed at 3:37pm, made the gate about 3:45. There was no line for DME and we boarded the bus immediately - arriving at OKW (first stop) at 4:30. No line at the desk, room was ready, all requests met (NS/upper floor) and no wait with Bell Services for a ride to the villa. Villa is great (bldg 29), clean and has a golf course view. We were unpacked by 5:00pm and caught a bus to Epcot at 5:10- dinner at Coral Reef - even saw Mickey swimming with scuba gear in the LS.
They have been resurfacing the roadway inside OKW- minor inconvenience last night- but they were gone today and all drive areas seem to be done and new lines painted. Buidlings 47,48,53,54,55,56 are all closed for rehab including the South Point pool. The resort does not feel like it's at full occupancy - with 6 buildings completely unoccupied, perhaps that's the reason. There are work crews milling about all of these buildings with exterior scaffolding as well as numerous trucks for assorted contractors. This seems to be a lot of villas out of service at one time (and a busy time of year to boot!).
This morning we left the room about 8:55am for AK - took photos of the new DVC Billboard enroute. There was a group of 7 DVC CM's in front of the billboard as it was being unveiled. (See Below)
We arrived at AKa little after rope-drop and hustled back to EE- arriving about 9:45. Got a FP for 10:50. Signage said 30 minute wait, but it was only about 20 minutes. Wonderful ride with great theming. We were off at 10:20- so we got back in line (about 25 minutes this time) and rode again- this time from the 2nd row of the mine car. My motion-sickness kicked in a little, but I cleared the feeling in about 10 minutes, so we used our FP and rode again from the rear of the train. Motion sickness again kicked in but without any ill affects for those nearby.
We walked around a little, grabbed a bite at Flame Tree (they offer the DDE 20% discount) and headed to MGM for a couple of Milionaire shows. I posted from the WWTBAM theater while waiting. I didn't make the Hot Seat today, but was 2nd a couple of times. Maybe tomorrow!
We then hopped a bus to the CR and walked over to MK- rode Buzz, CoP and shopped on Main Street until dinner at The Palace. (I'd advise everyone to make ADR's, as the DP has placed a lot of pressure on the table service restaurants everyplace. We stopped at the podium at 2PM asking for a res for 5 and was told (at first) nothing was available. When they realized there were just 2 of us, they did offer an ADR at 5:05. This place also accepts DDE. Between the 2, we saved about $10 with the discount today.
Back at the room for the evening now. Temps were over 80 today. Crowds are large with lots of school aged kids. Go early.
Tomorrow, back to Millionaire and Epcot to enjoy VoL. We will be joined by 2 grandkids and their parents on Sunday- still another week in paradise to look forward to.
Life is good!
Long-awaited DVC Billboard (Notice the antenna topper just above the "Best Kept Secret" banner.)
