Well, we got here yesterday, after the drive through the pouring rain from Charleston Airport. I think our GPS was wacky-from Charleston Airport to here via Parris Island? We saw parts of SC I've never seen-and we've come in from Charleston before! Anyways, the island is super-busy. We immediately went to Roastfish and Cornbread after we checked in, and there were at least 30 people waiting (at 5:45?), so we went to the British Open Pub. Even there, we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The front desk here said that Easter is packed, but then it dies down again before summer. When we checked in, we got info on the Low Country Boil. We've never done that-is it worth it? We're in a studio (see my other post about studios), #1126. The view's beautiful, and I loved it, until I woke up this morning to the sun glaring off the water. It's supposed to reach 80 degrees today-warmer than we've ever encountered here-so glaring sun isn't for me. Maybe this afternoon will be better. Guy's golfing (naturally), then we're going to the Sea Shack. I think we're going to get lunch to go and eat outside there or here. Later we might go to Pinckney NWR, then Fish Haul Beach (I think that's the name). Somewhere in there we'll go to the Sea Pines "Will Call" so Guy can get his pass to the PGA tournament tomorrow.

:) Sounds like a great vacaton...have a terrific trip...even in your studio :cutie:

Can't wait to read your report. We are counting down the days til our trip. How long did it take you to get there from Charleston airport? We are also flying in and out of Charleston.

Okay, you can please not complain about the sun glaring off the water. We have had a cold, gloomy week in Minnesota (when it is supposed to be spring!) after a cold, snowy winter. ;)
Have a great trip. HHI is just a wonderful resort. Wish we were there.

Our flight landed at 2:20, then we got our luggage and rental car, juggled everything without getting too wet to the car, through the pouring rain, checked in at 5:45. Could easily be 1/2 hour earlier in normal weather.

Sorry, I guess it's all relative-where we live is in the 90s already, and I hoped to cool down here.
Sea Shack was pleasantly uncrowded. When we left there, it was maybe 1/2 full. We enjoyed the hot tub for a while, and shopped in the mercantile. Bought a Shadow coffee mug on sale, and a nice cloth HHI/Shadow bag. Guy got his "will call" tickets for the PGA tournament tomorrow, after we spent time in bumper-to-bumper traffic starting before the traffic circle. Fortunately our balcony is all shady now, so I'm just chilling on our balcony, watching the fish jumb and the birds. Later, maybe we'll take a walk along the marina and look for dolphins again-this morning I saw some from the pier by community hall. I got some more paper plates and plastic ware at the front desk.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. I so want to go back to HHI but it just isn't in the cards. We have had a couple of reservations that we had to cancel because of DH's medical issues. We can't get to HHI non-stop from MSP and it is just too hard on DH to do trips with a stopover, so my one HHI trip may well be my last. I am just lucky I got to go once. HHI is such a great DVC. You are so fortunate to be there! Wish I were sitting on that balcony with you right now! Enjoy and keep posting when you have time. :goodvibes

Hope you have a wonderful vacation- I miss HHI so much- we aren't going this year, taking a cruise instead. :goodvibes 80 degrees? Funny, I've never been there when it's that COOL! :rotfl:

Are you planning on going to The Jazz Corner?

The Jazz Corner is the one place we've always meant to go to but never have. DS majored in Jazz and is a jazz musician, so we have an interest in Jazz. But since DH gets up early to golf most days, it just hasn't worked-we tend to be in asleep by 10:30. Went to the Easter brunch today, read the Island Packet in the lobby, now just hanging out watching the birds and fish off my balcony. In a little while, I think I'll go to the pool-yeah, I know, all this excitement is just too much. But it's a great way to unwind after tax season.

Got to watch that road from Charleston to HHI. It's low and boggy.

Yes, you go through Beaufort and Parris Island. Marine! HOooRa!

Hope you enjoy our weather this week!

I was at Tybee Is. yesterday and looked across Tybee Roads at the area of the Beach House.

It's time for a HHI fix!
