Setting the stage:

Cast Members:
Me: Inga, 42yo, veteran WDW and occasional DLR visitor, from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada with an 8 day park hopper
DH: 44yo, same as above, Disney 'lov-a" and here for a Microsoft conference (and sneaking out to DLR whenever possible over the conference week!)
Stay: 8 days at the Anaheim Hilton

Highlites so far (Sept 10-11):
--Californians - we come from what is famously known as one of the friendlies places to visit and I have to tell you these Californians are NICE. Cast members, people on the street, fellow park people and genuinely nice and like to chat. I have seen this before on a trip to Silicon Valley in May...really enjoy the people here!
--Extra Magic Mornings: at WDW we find these are a bit of a bust, but here we were on a relatively busy weekend day (Sunday) and it was walk ons everywhere. Extra Magic Morning was totally worth it for us.
--Walking from Anaheim Hilton to Park: we are really enjoying walking back and forth from the hotel (ask me at day 8 if I feel the same). It is about 20 minutes and it helps add to how much I can eat at the parks ;) Not minding it at all
--New Star Tours: Love it! DH gets less nauseated than in the previous version...I will need to do this over and over when I am on my own this week.
--Space Mountain: I think I have rode this ride on previous trips...but forgot how great the refurbish is!
--The Haunted Mansion shaping up for Halloween: I hope to post a pick of how the Halloween decorations are shaping up...it looks awesome, hope to get on it this weekend!!
--Air Canada: I can't believe I am saying this...Air Canada was awesome, friendly and helpful all the way through
--Nexus Card: Getting the Nexus card got us through our connection...without it we wouldn't have made our connecting flight! Well worth the $50.
--Dumbo at the fireworks: Flying Dumbo during the fireworks...fantastic!!

"Surprises"
--California Adventure Renos: We walked through DCA for a quick shop and the amount of construction is quite surprising...really didn't feel like going to a Disney Park and more like a construction zone.
--Cooler weather at night: while we were concerned about it getting too hot during the day, we were very surprised to see how cool it got at night. Did not pack one long sleeved shirt. The Weather Network was wrong!
--Viewing at fireworks: well, we didn't pick it well. Large trees...I think there were fireworks happening ;)
--Renting a car from Hertz: This was painful. Very long lines at the Hertz rental office...some stress trying to unload the car and find the return...not how we would like to start the trip...next time will just do the Disneyland Express and put up with the milk run to different hotels...

And that's just the first 1.2 days...a full DCA tour awaits today!!

Love the live update!!!! Just booked a trip for Spring Break for me and my two college daughters....I can't wait!!

Happy to see the high's are bigger than the lows.

A progressive view of pictures of the HM transformation would be really cool.
