Just got back to the room and it looks like we had a little issue with bandwidth in the last hour or so. I've restarted the software so that should fix things, at least for a while.
For those of you who asked about Illuminations, YES you can see it! We have a terrific view with the Eiffel Tower right in the middle of the fireworks! I wish I could turn up the refresh rate, but the "high speed" connection is having a hard enough time keeping up with updates once a minute. I'm afraid any faster would just lock it up more often. FYI, we will adjust the camera before we head out tonight for a better Illuminations view. We'll probably lose Spaceship Earth in the process, but we'll move it back when we return.
For those wondering how we've hooked it up, it's pretty simple. I brought my laptop and USB camera and downloaded a little freeware piece of software called Cam Commander. I plug in all my ftp information and set up the page to display the image, then just fire everything up. We actually have two laptops with us and brought a wireless router as well, so we plug the router into the wall connection, then use the wireless to log the computers on. Voila!
We're headed out to PI in a few hours, so here's hoping things hold out at least through Illuminations!
