We made it here after a wretched day of travel but...we made it. We are not superstitious but wonder if Friday the 13th was anyway involved. We flew threw Dallas and apparently a lot of other people are on Spring Break as well. We were delayed by airport problems from our small local airport. We then missed our connecting flight and couldn't be rebooked to a later flight because everything was full until Sunday. Yep, so we were told to do stand by which is a frightening experience with a 4 person party including two small children. We were at the top of the list for stand-by and were able to sneak onto the 2nd flight we were listed for. Another family of 4 apparently was also delayed and we were given their seats. I keep picturing them sleeping on airport chairs or staying in a Dallas hotel. Not a fun way to start a vacation. I feel so bad for them. I know we are very lucky to be here. We were about to rent a car and start driving the 20+ hours. Our nice warm AKV is so much better.

I must comment on the Disney Magical Express experience. Up until yesterday, our driver said that AKL and Coronado were together on a bus but as of today through the Spring Break, AKL, Coronado, Carribean, and Pop Century are all together. AKL was the last to be dropped off. I haven't done DME to AKL before but this seemed ridiculous. I know it is the farthest away but it took well over an hour for us to be dropped off and that was after waiting an hour from the time our flight landed to leaving the airport. This was the longest wait we have ever had on DME - over 2 hours from the time we arrived at MCO until we arrived at the hotel.

This is the first time we have stayed concierge as well but I also knew we were suppose to have a separate check-in. We were told by 3 separate AKL cast members to go to the long desk at the left to check-in - even once by bell services. Crazy stuff. We persisted and one cast member finally said oh yes and took us back to bell services and then we were escorted upstairs for check in . We still await our checked baggage but hey, we are at DW, are staying in a wonderful hotel, and just happy to be here. Who needs a hair brush anyways?! Oh, and a few weeks ago, we had asked the concierge to try to get us a reservation for the Cinderella's Royal Table. We were told we would be contacted if they were able to get it. No one contacted us. The young lady at check in didn't mention it. Just as we were finishing the check-in process, I remembered to ask. Luckily I did. They had made a reservation and charged our credit card for it a few days ago. It is for Sunday morning and we would not have known otherwise. That would have been an expensive breakfast to miss. We also had a message on the phone when I went to our room. It was to remind us of a Hoop De Doo reservation we had back on the 15th...of OCTOBER 2008. Again, crazy stuff.

We are so happy to be here and hope tomorrow, Saturday the 14th, will be a more normal day.

Let's hope the rest of your trip is more magical!

I'm glad you arrived safely. Enjoy your visit.

Last June, I used ME for AKV and we stopped at Pop, Caribbean, Coronado and finally AKV. I was the only one for AKV. So, it's not a new experience.

Still beats having to go through the car rental circus and getting there by your own means. I hope the rest of your trip goes well.

We'll be at AKV concierge on Tuesday in a studio and I can't wait! Didn't you get a sheet in your checkin folder with all your ADRs listed? They normally give you a letter that includes everything. Your Cinderella reservation would be there.

We joined National's Emerald Club. It allows us to book and pay for a mid size car for our trip. When we arrive at the airport, we go right to the cars (no standing in line), pick any car in the designated lot, and go! Quick and easy!

When we visited in December, 2007, we had our pick of SUV's, cars, and minivans. We ended up with a Toyota Rav 4 for the same price as the mid size--$85.00 for the week.

It is a great program for those that can do it with a mid size. If you NEED the SUV or a minivan, it probably wouldn't work since there is no guarantee of anything but the mid size--but for us, it was great!

And, there is a link through mousesavers.com that allows you to enroll in the program for free!!!!

No, we didn't get a sheet and it reservations were not even addressed. We also had a Park Hours sheet from February in there instead of the one for this week. I tell you, the day was just off.

We are still waiting for our checked baggage and think it might be on the way now. I was stupid enough to pack my daughters allergy meds in there instead of the carry on. As much as we travel, I should know better. So, we are back from the AK early because her eyes are so irritated. We have our fingers crossed for our bag or I will be heading to Walgreens courtesy of ME to get some otc meds.

That is unfortunate. Our bus driver seemed to think this was a new thing. I do think it is pretty sad to drop the guests off last that are staying at the most expensive resort. I remember that there was a similar set up with the boat that went between the WL and FW and Magic Kingdom. The guests at WL complained that they had to spend so much more time on the boat than the FW guests and they changed the boat routes to accomodate WL guests. I happened to be a FW campground guest more than WL at that time so I remember well. Now that I stay at WL more, I think it rocks (as my 10 year old would say).

Sorry to hear of your travel frustrations. I had heard spring break week is particularly bad.

Your poor dd we have bad allergies ourselves, but they seem to clear up in FL. ... is she allergic to the animals or just Fl in general? Hope you get her meds soon.

I'm sitting here now trying to talk myself into a Concierge studio room next Feb over a SV 1 br to save points. My son's first question after his exclaimation ("Food!") was "Is the food out all the time?" I told him no (and mentioned that it's just snacks to hold you over until meal time - i.e; everyone shares... don't clear the place out!) I was hoping perhaps you could tell me what times of day they offer up snacks and drinks.

Oh, and do you have access to a camera? and the nerve to trek into the new kidani pool area? hehe... just asking... ;)

Enjoy your trip! :wizard:

I love AKL and, overall, I think the concierge staff has been great. We are savannah view and have seen a few animals: ankole cattle, ostrich, giraffe, elands, and a rabbit.

I think we just had a bad day.

Well....at least you got to see a rabbit! :rotfl: I hope things have gotten better for you today and you are having a magical time! :wizard: Have a great time tomorrow at CRT....I was thinking of booking that in October too.

This does not always work out. I have been in the line to exit where they had only one line open and it took over an hour to exit the airport. Have also used it when the outside computers were down and they were turning people back inside the garage because you had to take the car keys and paperwork and go back to the counter in the airport to check your car out.

Hi there! I'm so happy you're posting- I have a concierge studio booked for a few nights this May- REALLY looking forward to it!! Glad the concierge staff is so helpful- I've really appreciated their help booking all my ADR's and safaris, and I'm not even there yet!:thumbsup2

I'm hoping that this is one of those deals where everything goes wrong one day and the rest of the trip is magical.
I have less than a day before we start our trip to MCO and SSR!!! It looks like the weather is great.

So jealous - wish I was there. Its still cold here in the NE. Pictures please?!

Thanks so much for posting.

looking forward to to hearing more about AKV concierge, DH and I thinking of trying it for an upcoming anniversary trip after our cruise.:lovestruc
