Don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I read the DaVinci Code (great book by the way) amd in it, the author suggests that Walt Disney was a mason (somehow connected with the Templars) and in some of his movies he uses symbology representative of his beliefs. Now, I know that the Little Mermaid came out years after Walt died, but Dan Brown (the auther) suggests that the red hair of the Littel mermaid represents Marie Magdalene and the female spirit of the world lost throuh hundreds of years of male influence in history (the Holy Grail according to the book). Actually, in a frame from the movie, Ariel looks at a painting of the penitent Marie Magdalene by George LaTour hanging in her cave. Coincidence? What do you folks think?

I believe that anyone with a good imagination can look at things and create an interpretation, then write about it, either in a bool, a magazine, the web, etc. If you want to believe that a person who may never have met Walt Disney can make an assumption as to his thoughts or beliefs influencing a film. the ideas for which may or may not have been brought up during his lifetime, that is ok with me. I have not read any of the Divinci code, it isn't my thing, but there are a lot of people who are willing to believe it all. Coincedence?

I think the DaVince Code was an interesting blend of fact, speculation and pure fiction. What made it so interesting was that everything he speculates on sounds very probable.

I think that's the best thing about a book that can blend "fact" with "fiction." The endless possibilities about what might be true. More for the imagination to enjoy.

Good book and I also enjoyed his "Angels and Demons" . I like the amount of research he does to back up the fiction aspect of the works. I thought the Ariel aspect was a bit of a stretch, but the masons are a huge organisation and their influence runs deep in our society.
