Hi.:flower3:

I am taking a cruise (NOT a DISNEY cruise) in January. I would like to know if anyone has taken their own alcoholic mixer aboard... I know this is technically not allowed.

Has anyone ever done it? How?

Not that I am... :rolleyes1

I am just curious... :)

You don't have to smuggle it...DCL allows you to bring alcohol on board. Your stateroom host will provide glasses.

The only thing is that if you take a bottle of wine to the dining room you will be charged a "corking" fee. If you carry in a glass, no charge.

OOOPS I just read that you're not on DCL. Sorry, can't speak to other lines.

There is another board (shall we say it is critical of cruises) :rotfl2:

There are numerous threads on the fine art of smuggling booze on board the various lines... I can save you some research however.

By far the preferred (and most successful) method is using "Rum Runner" brand containers... others have had success with using the plastic booze bottles...

One additional tip is to split the "booty" between all suitcases, that way if they get one bottle the rest may survive!

I've heard of people putting it in mouthwash/listerine bottles. Or something similar. Good luck!

We went on an Alaska cruise in June on Royal Caribbean. We used the Rum Runners. Put one with Absolute in one suitcase and one with Bacardi in another. Worked like a charm. And they don't leak. If they get confiscated, so be it. But I haven't heard of it happening. Have a great cruise.:)

A rum runner is a plastic bag type thing that you put your alcohol in so it can't be detected in your checked bags. Here's the link: http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/ DH used something similar that he found at REI for his Vodka on our NCL cruise in June and it worked like a charm. I'm sure any camping supply store will sell the same kind of thing.

We sailed RCI out of Pt. Canaveral in 2007 and 2008. Both times, DH just put a bottle of vodka wrapped up in a sweatshirt in his carry-on backpack. No one ever said a word. But, I've read that security at other ports will stop that. So, when we sailed out of Vancouver in June, we just used the "rum runner" and checked it in our suitcase.

Good Luck!

We've been told that folks use those large saline bottles (those bottles that eye drops come in - the saline solution) because it doesn't flavor the alchohol and it looks like a legitimate carry-on item. Don't use shampoo bottles or anything - I've heard those will make your alchohol taste like soap.

We just put it in our suitcase and sent it on through :rolleyes1. We then took everything out of our fridge and put our beer in there to keep cold. Plus we also took a bottle of rum with us. We've done this twice with Carnival and had no problems. Mind you, we still purchased through the bar .......... when sun tanning on deck and they walk around with the drinks of the day.......it's pretty hard to resist.

This time we will be cruising with Disney  and staying at the world before hand :woohoo:. Taking the transportation with them so we don't have anywhere to purchase it to take on board with us. Go figure, this time we are allowed to take it on board with us and we're not.:rotfl2:

I just wanted to update everyone... I have ordered some of the rum runners via the website mentioned above... :thumbsup2

We are going to try those out...

With Kool-Aid...

YeAH! Kool-Aid! ;)

Thanks for all the tips and tricks.

I love the Dis!!

Does anybody wanna see pics once I receive the Rum Runner things???

I used an empty water bottle on our last rcl cruise and filled it with vodka. I had it in my tote bad when I got in the ship so it seemed like it was the bottle of water that I was drinking. I didn't have any problems.

My relative does this!!! He actually puts vodka in a BIG mouthwash bottle and tints it green with food coloring.

Doesn't it stain his teeth? Or, at that point is it a "Who cares" sort of thing?

Since this topic does not apply to DCL cruises and it is the DIS board's policy not to permit discussions of how to break the rules at any of Disney's facilities, the thread is being closed.
