Parents of little boys,
Do you have this problem?
My 3-month old DS always pees out the side of the diaper. I really don't want to have to change his diaper during the night (unless of course its a poopy diaper) since he does pretty good at not waking up . However, he likes to sleep on his side and the side he sleeps on is almost always damp in the morning (from a leak I assume) AAARRGGHHH!!!!!!!!
Suggestions or comments? We have tried Pampers baby-dry and Pampers Swaddlers.

We have not had any trouble with DS leaking except when it is time to change sizes. I have been amazed at how off the pounds on the diaper sizes seem to be at least for DS. Everytime we start to have leaky diapers I just switch him to the next bigger size and that fixes the problem. We have always used the Pampers brand Swaddler/Cruisers. You might try using the next size up even if it seems a little big especially for overnight.

Maybe the diapers are too big and they're aren't snug enough against his little legs.

I was going to suggest trying another size too, I never really had any trouble with that either.??

Do you buy the boy diapers? We always bought these, and never had any problem with leakage.

Do they still sell rubber pants?? I remember using them waaaay back when i babysat to put over cloth diapers.

My DS was also a leaker. I remember having to change the crib sheet many times. Never had to do that for DD.

Good luck!

Jill

We had the same issue as you when our ds was that age. The diapers we liked the best were luvs (they are also slightly cheaper than pampers which is a bonus). They just seemed to hold more. Another thing I did was use one of those small water proof burp cloths that are about the size of a wash cloth over the bottom of the sleep wedge that held him on his side. That way if the diaper did leak, I didn't have a whole crib to strip. I just had to change the baby and take out the water proof pad. Hope that made sense for ya :D ! Good luck!

6 years ago when DS was in diapers I used Pampers Premium, not sure what they are today. But I was also going to suggest being sure of the size. Also, when you diaper him check the position of his *****, we always made sure it was pointing up instead of to the side...seemed to have less problems with leakage this way.

I thought maybe it was the size of the diapers, too. So yesterday I bought the next size up and he was still damp this morning.:(
When DD was a baby, they had "girl" and "boy" diapers. But not now! Or at least not that I have seen. You would think that they still would since boys and girls are still made differently.:o
I'll try to find some water proof pads and some rubber pants. I'll buy a package of Luvs when we run out and see if this helps.
I'll try to suggest pointing his little.... differently tonight. A co-worker suggested that and I mentioned it to DH who was like, "won't it just fall over?" It seems like with a diaper it couldn't just slide back over. (Funny I never thought I would have to worry about how to adjust a ****)

I had this same problem with DS. I use the pampers baby dry and they worked the best. I went through all the different brands and used the smaller size. Nothing seemed to help. So I would just put down the changing pads, I would double those up and he finally has grown out of the leaking.

Good luck!:D

They no longer have Boy diapers? I am pretty sure they have Huggies for Boys, which is what I always used on my kids. My youngest DS has only been out of diapers for a little over a year, I cannot imagine that they have done away with that type of diaper completely.

Maybe they do have boy and girl diapers in other brands. I have never thought to check. I just know that I have never seen them in Pampers. I'll see if I can find boy diapers in another brand. At this point, I am willing to try anything. Pampers just always worked so well for DD (6) that I have never bought any other brand. I'll check it out next time I'm at the store.:D

You are right that Pampers does not have gender specific diapers but other brands do.

I have heard from many people that different brands work best for different kids. I hated the Huggies and DS always seemed to leak with them but the Pampers have been great for him. A friend of mine hates Huggies and Pampers but like Luvs for her DS.

I have used Huggies on all the boys. We had an occasional leak but nothing regular. They dont make gender specific Huggies, what they sell is for everyone.

I always have used Pampers Premium and I have NEVER had a problem with my DS. Maybe I'm just lucky!!! I wish you luck!! Maybe trying to make the diaper tighter?? I know my Pampers have those elastic velcro thingies, and it really helps getting everything tight!!

They dont make gender specific Huggies, what they sell is for everyone.

Then they must have just stopped within the last year, because I always used Huggies for Boys with both of my kids.

Actually, now that I think of it, I guess it was Huggies Pull Ups for Boys that I used.

I guess all things diaper related have vanished from my memory. :teeth:

One thing I was thinking of that you might possibly try if you can't find a diaper that fits well enough that it doesn't leak, is doubling up on diapers. Or an even better idea is those Huggies Overnights. I never used them on my kids, but my niece was one who soiled her diaper in the night and my SIL used these with a lot of success.

My boys are all older now(7,7,12,13) but we always had the best luck with Luvs. Every now and then, we'd have a leak, so putting a waterproof cloth over the sheet saves having to change sheets in the middle of the night. I don't know if they still sell them, but for my oldests, we also added diaper liners.

Another vote here for Luvs -

My son had the same problem when he was little, especially with the Huggies. I switched to Luvs and never had a problem again!

no kidding aim his winkie down~ it was the best advice my friend gave me who had three boys, ever since that no more leaks;)
