List of Questions...

A Tinkerbell Twist sounds so good! Where do you get those at? And I wouldn't know about SM because I have never waited in the whole line, haha. Just FP! I wish I had a Dream FP! Haha. :)

So if I was going to get a gift card.. Would I be able to use it on the Segway Tour? I am thinking about getting my bf a $200 one for Christmas, and then we would have left overs for food at the park and perhaps the BB?! I have never been there and want to but it's so expensive!

Tinkerbell Twists can be bought @ any of the frozen drink places. Some that come to mind is the on in Fantasyland across from the Matterhorn, the one in Toontown across from the Trolley Station, one in A Bug's Land across from Heimlich's Chew Chew Train, and one in Paradise Pier next to where the Orange Singer was.
And yes, you can use giftcards for the tour.

I didn't realize the Tinkerbell Twist was at every "icee" stand...I thought it was just the one across from the Matterhorn? I've never had one tho so I don't know. :)

The gift card is a great idea, you will have a little left over for food. As for your AP question, I really suggest getting you both APs. Remember that you can always upgrade from Deluxe to Premium later in the year, going in Jan you won't need the Premium just yet, you won't need the Premium until you start going over blocked weekends. :) My suggestion would be to get you both Deluxe APs, perhaps adding parking if it's needed and you can afford it, then a little later in the year upgrade both to Premiums. If you've added parking to one of the passes you do get that credit when you upgrade. Also remember that you qualify for discounts on tours IF you have an AP, but I'm pretty sure EACH person needs one......so, here's what I would do, buy park hoppers, upgrade them to Deluxe APs on your first day, use the discounts and then save money for a future visit, when you come back upgrade them both to Premiums. :) Remember that a single day 2 park ticket is $97, if you visit 5 times over the year and had to buy a ticket for 5 days you've already more then paid for a Premium AP. Just something to think about. :)

The gold spike is actually a survey marker from which they laid out the rest of DL.

I think the "petting farm" really got popular and became an attraction when Mickey Moo was born. I have pictures of Mickey Moo and my DD from around 1995? It is also where the presidentially pardoned turkeys come to live.

So who is Mickey Moo and what are presidentially pardoned turkeys? What I'm imagining with the turkeys are that they raise some at the white house for the president to eat but the president and kids end up being too fond of them to eat them so they send them off to Disneyland for a good time instead. :) (I'm an Aussie so excuse my lack of knowledge on presidential things :))

Mickey Moo is/was (?) a cow that had a Mickey shaped spot on it.
The pardoned turkeys are turkeys that the president will pardon to not be eaten. I saw an episode on the Food Network before where the president goes to a certain turkey farm and he chooses which turkeys he wants to save.

REALLY? I didn't think of that! I forgot about upgrades. That would be so worth it because yeah we just can't spend $800 at once but we could spread it out! WOO! :cool1: That's awesome. So if I upgraded would it renew for the year or would it just last until when I originally bought it? I wish there was a way to make monthly payments on that type of thing. Maybe I can get Dbf to put it on his credit card! But wow, that's amazing I am so glad you told me about that! I just love this board! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes So what I want to do is buy a park hopper with a MM included, then upgrade after the MM, so I can have AP discounts (For Segway I would have a AAA discount anyway). How do FP's work with AP's?

The upgraded AP will expire on the same date that the original AP would have expired. You don't get any extra days.

How do FP's work with AP's?

Same as with any admission ticket. Your AP will be a plastic card, about the size of a credit card. Put it into the FP machine, out pops a FP :thumbsup2 The system will remember when you can next get a FP, just like any other admission ticket.

HTH,
Bob

Haha I was hoping for some special treatment, like unlimited/untimed FP's or something. :lmao:

I love this thread, lol I don't have to feel bad everytime I have a new question to make a whole new thread, I just keep coming here. :goodvibes

Have two more!

-How far in advance does DL put their park hours up? I want to know the hours for Jan 29th-Feb 3rd.
-Anyone remember the hours for these dates last year by any chance?

I love the petting zoo too. The name of the big sheep is George. He is very nice, soft and friendly. Then there are many a goat as well, they are so cute, names I recall right off are Wendy and Jane. Sometimes you can see a young bull in a different pen, cannot pet him though, but then not a good idea anyway to pet bulls, believe me .... :faint: His name has momentarily escaped me, sorry Mr. bull :flower3: What is really awesome too, is that although one cannot normally visit them, behind toon town, there are 32 yes count them, well if we could ever get permission to go to the stable area, count them 32 horses to date. Awesome, I so love horses .... they are better from most people. Anyway ..... don't forget the draft horse pulled wagon that is available (For no fee) at Main Street. :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

The Tortuga Trio of Creme Brulee is most delish, however, word on the street has it, that it is not currently being served with the most yummy and delectable chocolate sauce counter part. So it would then be passion fruit and vanilla-bean custards, caramelized, 2 servings. And is served with Brittany cookies. And is most likely still being served as well with a mini replica of Davey Jones Treasure Chest, it is suppose to be edilble, but only if you are looking forward to many a dentist visit. The cute little chest contains at least one mint chocolate dubloon, which is very delicious as well, and is available for sale at the Blue Bayou. They are made at Disneyland, so they are so fresh, that they might just slap yer face if ye be gettin just a tad bit too fresh for their delicate senses. ;)

Bob is right, you do not get an extention when you upgrade later and they do not prorate the AP either, so even if you upgraded the day before your AP expired you would be charged the full rate. Of course you won't do that so you're probably OK. ;) DBF and I activated our AP vouchers in Jan, we added parking to my AP and then after our trip we reviewed the black out dates for 2009 and realized how many trips we wanted to take over blocked weekends we went ahead and upgraded our Deluxe's to Premiums and we upgraded the girls as well in early Feb. Then we promptly planned a visit over President's Day weekend. :) So yes, what you want to do is get tickets with MM and then upgrade after you use the MM. And yes, the only way to break it into payments is to put it on a credit card, unfortunately they won't let anyone other than So Cal residents use the monthly payment plan, which sucks for them because they just lost 4 Premium APs for next year. We can't afford to pay for them all at once this time so we aren't renewing, and since we spend a lot of $$ every time we go they are losing a lot from us. But that's a whole 'nother topic....LOL

I wish we got unlimited FP, or a shorter wait time or something but nope, we get the same FP usage that all ticketed guests get, that makes it fair tho so I can't complain too much. :)

Your hours will be up 4-6 weeks in advance, but as far as I can remember those are off peak days so you're looking at the parks closing at 8 pm during the week.

That's good to hear Pixiewings!! I was thinking it would close at 6 or so. :scared1: But 8 isn't tooooo bad, especially since that's already about 3 days in to our trip, so I am sure we'll be pretty tired (well, at least dbf will be, I get a sudden rush of energy when I go to the parks). But you sure can't beat the low crowds! :crowded:

Thank you 3M1M, I had fun looking at all the park hours throughout the year! Assuming that will be about the same as this year, that will be great to have to plan future trips! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Gisele you made me very hungry, haha! I want to try the TT now! popcorn::

Annddd I have some more!

1. What is Toon Town Morning Madness & why do you need tickets for it?
2. Does anyone know when is the lake supposed to be drained (Hoping I will get to see Fantasmic at least one night:worship:)!?
3. This is a silly one but what exactly is the Trick or Treat party? Is it worth going if you don't have kids with you?
4. Is it worth it if you don't have kids to have a character meal? Or should we just try to save it for BB? Since our hotel is further away than usual we would like to not have to go back and forth too much. I know that getting cheap (somewhat healthy) food is going to be a challenge. :sad2:
5. What is Moments with Lincoln? Or the version of it when it's not Moments with Lincoln?

Thanks a bunch! :woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2:pixiedust::dancer:

Oh I love this forum :rotfl: we have so many disney professionals on here

Great posts everyone, learned a lot of things I didn't know excisted:upsidedow

No, it's 8, DCA will close at 6, but DL will be open until 8. :) We went last year the first week of Jan, the crowds were so small, but it was cold and occasionally wet. Nothing we couldn't handle, just thought I'd mention it. The weekends will be standard midnight closing, or maybe 11 but open later then 8. :) Except DCA, which always closes early. Oh and DLR will open later, iirc at 9 instead of at 8. :)

1-TTMM is a little "show" type thing they do in Toon Town, we did it once and we were not impressed. In fact the kids said "we can never do that again" once it was over. Basically the characters come out and Mickey does a "ceremony", then it's just basically a meet & greet. But it's been like 3 years since we did it last so maybe it's better......:confused3

2- the lake is already drained. :) I'm guessing you mean the Rivers of America in DL since you mention F! :) So, the answer is the river will have water until after the 3rd, so on the 4th they will probably start draining it. IF there will a F! show it will be Sunday night, and the park will probably close at 11 that night. :)

3- The ToT Party is just that, a party with treats. :) You do get to ride rides and meet characters, the lines are much smaller than usual. But they do charge an extra admission fee for the ToT Party, only guests with ToT Party tickets are allowed in, so you have to decide if it's worth it to you or not. They sell 2500 tickets per event so the smaller crowds are really pretty awesome. :)

4- Character meals are what you make of them. Some people really like them, with or without kids. I would do one without kids but DBF says no, we should do them with the kids only so that's what we do. They are more $$ then standard meals in the parks but the interaction of characters is what you're there for, so if that's important to you then do it, if not then wait. It's really a personal decision. If I had to chose between a character meal and BB I'd go with BB just about every time. :)

5- I'm not familiar with the Moments w/Mr Lincoln show, it's been closed since we became AP holders and prior to that it wasn't something I had to do so we skipped it.

How sad (but really wonderful) is it that, just reading these questions I can answer most of them like a running commentary in my head. Love this board!

P.S. Told my husband the other day "Isn't is wonderful that you are married to a disney addict?" He responded with, "At least you are including yourself in that group." hahahaha....:rotfl2:

Great Questions, OP!

Hey!! -- We LOVE the mint juleps!!! Tastes like scope!?! :scared1: Does not!!! If it did, I would be downing Scope ALL stinking day!

The animals definitely change. The best time of year is Christmas because there are reindeer. Although you can't pet them....Santa is picky about that!

Seriously, my kids think that Santa's workshop is at Disneyland between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We told them that he moved to Anaheim because it's too cold at the North Pole and he gets better shipping rates from there because of the LA port and the rail corridor....(this is what happens when your mom works in commercial real estate -- your world view is twisted).

5. What is Moments with Lincoln? Or the version of it when it's not Moments with Lincoln?...

It was a show in the Opera House that featured an audio-animatronic version of President Lincoln. He spoke, US patriotic music was played, images of Wash. D.C. etc. You can find videos of it all over youtube if you look.

It closed in 2005 for "The First 50 Magical Years" which was part of the 50th celebration. This closed earlier this year.

5. What is Moments with Lincoln? Or the version of it when it's not Moments with Lincoln?

Just to add...

The new theater presentation of "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" is expected to open at the Main Street Opera House on December 17. :thumbsup2

The "Disneyland: First 50 Magical Years" film with Steve Martin has been playing at the Main Street Opera House (on a relatively small screen) since early-October.

There are some recent photos of the Main Street Opera House and Disney Gallery in the following MP weekly update (October 5, 2009):

Hope this helps. :earsboy:

Wow the lake is already drained? We were there Oct 2 (sometime around there) and it wasn't. We watched F! from the long line at HMH. I was in Heaven! :littleangel: HMH was great, I really love the Jack & Zero at the beginning of the Graveyard. I want a good picture of that to put in my scrapbook. If anyone has one they aren't afraid to show, go ahead and POST! :goodvibes Along with anything else you think would be good for my book.

This thread is great. I am so glad I have all of my questions in one place. I have so many more, and think more up throughout the day while I am not doing things I should be doing (homework, shopping, driving...:lmao:, ext), and this thread is great to have them all in one spot for me to read!

I am grateful for everyone on this board. The veterans and the newbies. Because the newbies ask questions I wouldn't even think to ask (but still very helpful) and the veterans just know everything! :) Thanks everyone for your help. I am taking this all in and have dreams every single night about DL, they make me so happy! :cloud9: But after watching Paranormal Activity :scared1: I had a "nightmare" about DL. I was getting on Space Mountain and the train lifted off the tracks and started going crazy and one of the CM's yelled out "Oh for the love of psycho!" :lmao:

Just to clarify any confusion... :thumbsup2

In Disneyland where F! plays it is considered a river and is called "The River of America" and it goes around the Tom Sawyer's Island.

The term "Lake" is used when referring to the lake at Paradise Pier in DCA that has been drained for a long time for construction and installation for the World of Color show. However, they are in the process of refilling it now.

On a side note, the River of America will be drained early next year for routine maintenance (not sure if that affects F! playing when there is not water in the river)...

OK! I have a question. Dbf and I would like to volunteer to save $72 each on our trip in January. So we would have to get right on the ball and volunteer asap. But I see online that you save $40 a person when you buy tickets online, and would like to know if we could upgrade our free tickets to a 6 day PH online so we save the $142 AND the $80 for buying online. We are trying to make this trip as cheap as possible so we can afford a few more (WE MIGHT BE BUYING AP'S!:cool1:) Is this possible?

Any other tips for us to save some $$? :)
