Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Tracy and Amy

Thank you so much for keeping up with me, my Wish Sisters.

We did have a good weekend. Friday night was kind of off, I was tired, but

Saturday was much better. I had my hair appt Sat AM which is in the same town where oldest DS lives. I took DD with me and we saw him after my appt. We had lunch and then he asked me to go check out a car with him. His is about dead and he needs to get a new one. After that DD and I did Father's Day shopping and then headed home. DS15 worked so DD, DH and I had family movie night. We watched Field of Dreams. family favorite. DD feel asleep right at the end of it.

Sunday we went to the first showing of TS3. It was great! Loved it and can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Disney did an excellant job and I was very impressed. I think it was left open for the possibility of a 4th, but DH says no. After the movie, I had to clean the studio. I bought steaks for DH to grill and Gram came over as usual.

Today was good at work. I didn't yell at anyone and got almost everything done I needed to. :thumbsup2

I am working on my food, sometimes good, sometimes....not so good. Yesterday was a snack fest at the movie. I know better than to go at lunch time. :sad2: Last night was real good though, it evened out I think. Walking more at work, but the stairs are giving me trouble again. Oh well, I did it once so I can do it again.

DH has to go on a last minute trip tomorrow. The timing isn't the best, but I'm working it out. I have one of the best supervisors in the world as he is so willing to work with me in situations like this.

Next week we leave for New York. A week in the mountains, no phones, no tv, no computers.... but DH and the kids love it.

Hi Lisa, you did do it once and I know you'll do it again! I am betting your food did even out, sometimes its okay to splurge and if you behave the rest of the day, it all works out! At least that's what I told myself when I ate cake for lunch today!:rotfl:

Now see, next time you want to go to the mountains, come out here to Colorado! At least you know nobody from your real life can bug you that week.

Glad your supervisor is understanding. I hope you get all the details worked out while your dh is gone!

I'm glad that you had a nice weekend, Lisa.

I hope you have a wonderful time in New York!:wizard:

Hello
It's late and I should be in bed, but the house is finally quiet, so here I am.

Work has been more quiet this week. Most things are taken care of for a few days/couple weeks, so I just have the day to day stuff right now. I can breath!:goodvibes

Food is better. I have been trying to empty out my pantry and not buying much new stuff. Hasn't work for me eating wise. I finally broke down and bought a few things (mainly my cereal) that I eat on a regular basis and that has helped A LOT. :thumbsup2

I am working on the stairs again. My one calf muscle is beginning to give me problems again, but I am being careful. I really don't like elevators, but I am alternating between the stairs and the elevator. Going up only.

DH's trip is going well and the kids and I are working with our schedule. Last night DD spent the night with Sophia since her mom takes them to camp in the AM. (I pick them up) Tonight she is home and I will go in an hour late. Tomorrow night she will spend the night again at Sophia's so I can go in early. DH is suppose to be home Friday night.

How do I find everyone on Facebook? I finally found Amy's thread and saw she closed it. I got real concerned for her when I saw about the fires in AZ today. I don't know if the fires are near her or not. Can anyone help me find you all on facebook? I would really appreciate it.

Lisa, sounds like you are doing well with being a single mom this week! Glad things have slowed down at work.

I'll get you the facebook stuff tomorrow or try to. I hardly ever go on mine but most people on here are better!

It sounds like things are going well for you this week!:thumbsup2

I hope you have a nice weekend!

Hi Lisa,

I hope you are having a great weekend.

How close are you to the coast and how much if any oil has come up in Miss?

I have really been thinking about you through this whole tragedy. It just makes no sense.

Hope things are going well.

Oh wait, just remember I think you are heading to NY about now. Have fun there and enjoy the rest and relaxation! And don't miss the computer too much lol.

HI Amy and Tracy

We had a really busy weekend. (Some days I want my life back:upsidedow but I can't remember what that was)

Thursday, DD spent the night with Sophia again, so it was just DS and I. I let him drive me on a couple errands and then got him dinner on the way home. Me, I had cereal. Some reason I was up late again, but can't remember why.

Friday was a dozie. Friday morning I was up and at work by 5:30am. I left at 9:00 to get DD from camp to take her to dance recital rehersal for 10:00am. Rehersal went way longer than it should have and we ended up leaving at the end of her third dance so I could get her lunch and back to camp for the afternoon field trip. We were late, so I had to take her to where the field trip was, then back to work for me. We were having problems with a couple travel arrangements, so while I was working on them DH calls (who is suppose to be on his way home from DC) to say that he is going to be late. Okay, thanks. Then it's he won't make his connection in Atlanta so they are re-routing him and he has to fly into New Orleans instead of Gulfport. His truck is in long term parking in Gulfport, can I pick him up. There goes my evening.
So, I drop DS off at the skating rink to work and DD and I head to New Orleans. Half way there DH calls to say he is going to be even later, more delays. Finally, he was suppose to be in at 5 something and ends up landing at 9:50pm, with no luggage. more waiting while he figures that out. Then we have to drive 1.5 hours to Gulfport to get his truck and then another hour back home. I got home at 1:30am and this was after being up at 4:00am to go to work early. I was kind of...:faint:

Saturday, we got up late :headache: I had things to do. DD had a bday party at 12:00, who does 12:00 outside parties in southern MS in June??????? I made DD leave early to go home and rest since her dance recital was that night. Tried to drop Sophia off at her house, but no one heard us knocking. I figured her parents were napping with her little brother so I took her to my house and put her in the shower with DD. It had been a pool party and they were covered with lotion. Suddenly one of them fell and I go running in there to discovered that Sophia and slipped and her foot hit the side of the shower and put a hole in it. :headache: We are already getting the AC fixed. :sad2: (DH was able to fix it thank goodness)

Recital is always a big night and I help back stage. I run out front every once in a while to see DD on stage. DD received her trophy for cover girl and all were happy. She did wonderful and even though she can be very shy and doesn't like people watching her, she loves being on stage. I made DS suffer through (he had some friends dancing) and told him one day he would appreciate the culture he was experiencing. He wanted to know what was culture. :sad2:

Sunday was recovery day, but I still had to clean the studio for the summer and then had to take a couple things to oldest DS. DD and I did some shopping for our trip while DS and DH worked on decking the attic so the AC work could be done. We leave Wednesday for NY and haven't even begun to pack. I am so far behind......I really would like my life back one day if I could even figure out what I did with it. :lmao:

Wow Lisa, your Friday sounded like something out of a boot camp type ritual. That was one long day! I used to hate it when dh travelled and encountered delays. I don't miss those days one bit!

So when do you go to New York?

And also, where are you guys staying in WDW for your Thanksgiving trip?

Hope the week is a bit less hectic than last week was!

You had quite a day on Friday, Lisa!

I hope you have a safe and relaxing trip to New York!:grouphug:

Hi Amy and Tracy
Sorry to be out of pocket. I can't seem to get things together right now.

I honestly can't remember what happened Monday night. DH and DS went bowling and I think I just did laundry and clean and do stuff to get ready for our trip.
Tuesday was real busy at work with it being my last day for a couple weeks and all. I ended up with a migrane. I tried to go home and pack but it just wasn't happening. I ended up in bed for a while, but then got back up to pack and finally went back to bed at 10:00pm. DH is so use to me packing and all that he just didn't know what to do. I got up at 6:00am on Wednesday, finished laundry and packing and we left the house a few minutes after 8:00am. We had to make a couple stops in town on the way out and hit the interstate. DS was driving with DH giving "tips" the entire time. After about 30 minutes I got tired of listening to it, so I asked DH for the work laptop (with that wonderful air card) so I could do some work. Guess what? He didn't have it in the laptop bag!:scared1: DH freaked. I'm like, no big deal we'll just go back home and get it. But oh no, it wasn't at home, it was still in his office. :sad2: How he left his office with out it, I have no idea, but....he did. So back to the office, grab the laptop and let's try again. I was able to work, but can't DIS on that laptop. I still wasn't feeling good and by the time we reached the hotel, I ate a little and went straight to bed. The next morning (Thursday) I wasn't able to get on as we left early and didn't arrive to NY until 10:00pm. Finally today, I am able to get on. We leave tomorrow for the mountains, which has no communications whatsoever. I will be back in the city next Friday night (just DS and I ) so I plan to catch up with everyones weeks then.

Funny thing, I woke up Thursday at 4:30am (normal time to wake up for work) and realized that I felt great. After two days of pain, it was a wonderful feeling. I always sleep so good at Hampton Inn hotels and this one was awesome. Anyway, I had to go down to the desk as they didn't leave enough towels in our room. The night manager was shocked to see me and was worried that something had woken me. The staff here was great!:thumbsup2 She was relieved when I explained that I am always up at that time and about being sick the couple days before.

Amy - we will be staying at BLT. We are renting points from a friend. At first I wanted to stay somewhere cheaper, (even on points it was more than I wanted) but I crunched numbers, cut a day off of the trip, weighed the pros and cons and finally decided to stay there. It really is very convienent and I know the kids will love it. DD is very excited about the monorail access.

Hope you're having a nice time in New York, Lisa!

That is so cool that you are staying at BLT!!!!:cool1: I hope you'll do a trip report when you get back. I want to stay there some day! ::yes::

Hi Lisa, I hope you have fun in New York, maybe out of touch with the real world will be a good thing! I love Hampton Inns too, its about my favorite chain (along with Hyatt Place's and Embassy Suites). Well my favorite chain outside Disney hotels of course!

Glad you realized he had left that at the office before you got too far on journey. So glad your pain is gone, may it stay that way!:wizard::hug::goodvibes

That is great you are staying at BLT. I'll be anxious to see how you like it. I never got to stay there, but I did stay at the Grand Californian Villas in Disneyland and those newer DVC one bedrooms (I assume you have a one bedroom?) with the two bathrooms and the newer layouts are so nice. You'll have a ball and being on the monorail will be so cool for you all. I also hear that pool at BLT is incredible.

Have fun, relax and we'll see you when you get home!

Mississippi to New York by car is one heck of a road trip!;)

Hi
I am back from the Mountains. Still in New York, but internet connected again. I returned to some very devastating news. DD's dance teacher, along with her husband, son and son-in-law, was killed in a car accident this morning. An 18-wheeler crossed the median and hit them head on. They didn't stand a chance. Thankfully DD wasn't with me when I found out today. I am still in shock and just can't comprehend the how or why this happened. Now I have to figure out how to tell DD. Please pray that I will find the proper words for a 7 year old and be able to comfort her.

Oh Lisa,

My friend, I am so sorry to hear the news about your DD's dance teacher and family. :sad1: My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and her students. How is your DD doing? If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

Sending our love and prayers your way.....:grouphug:

Thank Tracy.
It's hard. DD said she will never dance again, that it just wouldn't be the same with anyone else. We'll see. I told her that Mrs. Jeanne would want her to dance. She has been with her for 4 years, over half of her life. She understood when her grandmother passed away, she had been sick for a very long time and we were able to prepare her, but this.... You can't prepare for.

Normally I don't get so close to people that something like this would hit me this hard, but she kind of snuck in on me. She was the kind of person whom you just admire and adore. 76 years old and had danced since she was 2-3 and taught for the past 62 years. She believed in me. At my age, she wanted to teach me to dance. She had an adult class that she wanted me to join. Never had a dance lesson in my life and she said she could teach me and was willing to try. No one had ever had that kind of faith in me before. I wasn't allowed to take as a child because my mother thought it was a waste of money and I wouldn't be able to do it. But Mrs. Jeanne said I could do it and she would help me, teach me. Now that dream is dead.......

on a separate note.....life, fortunately (or unfortunately) goes on.

Life at the lake was good. Wonderful weather. They all thought they were dying at 92 degrees with a lovely gentle breeze. :confused3 Lots of sun and no rain until Thursday evening. I ate way too much. We eat REAL good up there. :sad2: But I did walk. Once to the post office over 2 miles and 2-3 times to the Lake Store, about one mile. One good thing. The whole way there is up hill and do I mean up hill. :upsidedow Of course going back is down hill, but still. Also, then inlaws live in a three story house. All I have done for the past two and half days is go up and down stairs. Laundry, packing, keep forgetting stuff in the bedroom, etc. I have said it before, if I lived in a 2-3 story house, I would have great legs. I am so forgetful that I would constantly be going up and down. :thumbsup2 Eating has gotten much better since we have returned from the mountains.

Today was a better day for me.

We left New York this morning with just DH, DD and I. We drove through NY, PA, Maryland, W. VA and into VA. In PA we visited a furniture manufacture that we are interested in getting a dining room set from. We saw some of the furniture in the Amana colonies in Iowa and loved it. We realized that we would be going right by the manufacturer. The owner is Amish and he was great to talk to. One of his little boys was so cute. I love the furniture and hope to be able to buy something soon.

We are currently in VA for the night. We went out for a nice dinner at Olive Garden, then back to the hotel where DD and DH went swimming and I walked on the tread mill.

Well, not exactly a rant, but my feelings on what has happened to my dance family recently.

When I heard about the accident, I was shocked, totally shocked. How could this be possible? How does a tire go out on a vehicle and the driver doesn't even apply the brakes? How does someone not see a huge truck coming at them? How could someone ride in a vehicle and not wear a seat belt? What is this going to do to all of the girls, especially DD? All of these questions were going through my head. I just could not comprehend.

Now I have never had a tire blow, go flat yes, but blow no. I don't know how a vehicle reacts, but wouldn't you at least try to slow down?

How could you not see a huge 18wheeler coming at you? The area where it happened is wide open. There is a huge ditch inbetween the two sides of the interstate. Was another vehicle in front of them who swerved out of the way and Danny just didn't see it until it was too late? That did happen to another friend of mine. She was behind an 18wheeler who suddenly swerved and she pulled into the left lane to go around him. She ended up being hit head on by someone who entered the interstate going the wrong way.

4 ppl died and three did not have seat belts on. DS said from the pics, seatbelts wouldn't have mattered, but I rather have them on and at least try.

The girls from the school are devastated. I am just grateful it is summer time and they aren't in school right now. A couple have already asked if someone could keep the school going. I received a message from one of the other mother's to call as soon as I got home. I think it might be about that. None of the girls want to go to another school, DD included. Of course it is too soon, but at least they still want to dance. Except for DD who says dance is over for her.

I truly and sincerely hope that this is all just a random accident, that the truck driver didn't do anything wrong. We are suppose to forgive those that sin againist us, but right now I am having a hard time doing that. If there were issues with his truck, as I think there might have been since he was arrested, then he needs to understand what he has taken from us. He should have to face the girls and hear over and over their anguish, anger and devastation. He should have to hear from them who she was and what she meant to us. Their pain is so raw and I just don't have the words to comfort them as I feel the same pain.

Please, please, please, everyone, wear your seat belt, everytime. Don't answer the phone if you are driving and definitly, don't text. The life you save may be your own and your family would greatly appreciate that.
