Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Well, I had this long post and suddenly lost it. Not sure why?:confused3 Maybe it was too long. Any way yesterday and today were good and bad, but I'll try to post again tomorrow.

I do want to put out one thing. When I logged on to the Dis this evening I learned that one of the Wish Kids, Noah from Canada, passed away today. While his family and friends are very sad and he will be missed by all, he is with Jesus now and in no more pain. Enjoy your wings little man.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Noah's family and friends. :grouphug:

Thanks Tracy. I never met him, but he touched my heart anyway, just through the Dis.

Had a good day today, way better than yesterday, although it had it's up side too.

Yesterday, I had a big project that had to get done ASAP and I made the deadline. Hopefully what I gave them will help. Didn't feel too good still, but I made it. Got through the day only to hear from one of DH's assistants that he had a very bad day. I appreciated the warning. He was not in a good mood last night. We talked about it and it's one of those things of someone not being prepared for their part of a brief, yet trying to make someone else look bad so their lack of preparedness isn't noticed. He can stand that and it makes him furious. Rightly so.
E and I walked tonight and we had a good walk. Did about 45 minutes before she needed to stop. She is getting better. I think she was way sicker than she realized. It took a lot out of her. I'm trying not to let her push too much. Definitly don't want a relaspe.

Today (Thursday) I got to work almost on time, had to go through town to pay a bill.
Couldn't get a web based program I use to work, it was soooooo slow.
Had a meeting that went over.
Went to lunch and didn't like what I ordered. Not a bad thing necessarily.
Got payroll done early despite one supervisor being late turning his stuff in. I know they think I'm good, but come on, I need a little time to get stuff done. Plus tomorrow is my off day, so it had to get done today.
April and I walked this evening while the girls played on the new playground at one of the tracks we go to. :woohoo: for the new playground. Something to keep them occupied while we walk. And the great thing is, it is in the middle of the track so we can watch them the whole time. :thumbsup2 Someone was thinking.
We also talked about "her" Disney trip I am helping her plan. We are working on resturants now. I have menus printed to go over. Love AllEars for the menus and pictures. Can I say that here?:upsidedow

Well God Bless little Noah and his family. I just can't even imagine.

Good job getting those walks in! I had a post that evaporated the other night too, very aggravating. The server has been slow lately, don't they know we disers and wishers have things to say and info to find???:rotfl:

I love allearsnet too. I need to get on there and plan out my Disneyland meal budget! I lead a sad life, what can I say?

Have a super weekend and enjoy your day off today!

You're doing a great job getting those walks in, Lisa!:thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Allears is one of my favorite sites! It really is helpful when trying to plan dining. (Especially free dining! LOL!:lmao:)

Hope you have a great weekend!

I just lost a post I was working on again. Wonder what is going on? I'll try again.

Friday was my nonwork day so I was able to take DS by the school again and we were able to talk to the ROTC advisor. DS got all of his questions answered and decided to give it a try. The advisor said it would not interfer with soccer or swim team. Now he just needs to talk to those two coaches. When we got back, it was time for April and I to leave to take the girls to lunch and a movie. Friday was April's last day with us as she goes back to her "real" job on Monday. We went to McDonalds for lunch and E's mother (Mamaw) is in town and she met us there with the boys. We all went to the movie together and saw GForce. Everyone really liked it, it's a cute movie. After the movie, April and I had some errands and then we signed the girls up for dance for the Fall. We were really tired so we didn't get in any exercise today. DD reminded me that I had promised her friends could spend the night since DH is out of town. So Sophia and Joey came over. This was Joey's first time to spend the night with us (he's 4). Instead of having just DD in bed with me, I had all three. I didn't get much sleep that night. One good thing is Joey is no longer scared of Roo. He suddenly decided he wanted to pet her and now they are friends.

Saturday I worked on the computer a lot and did some picking up around the house. Since DS had to stay home on Friday, I took him and DD back to the movie. DS saw Transformers and DD and I saw GForce again, but this time in 3D. I wasn't impressed. It wasn't any better in 3D. After the movie, we came home to clean house(didn't happen) and just hang out. DD went to bed early and actually so did DS and I. No exercise again. Today was a bad start to our No Buy August.

Today (Sunday) we have already been to the store, got the papers and are now washing clothes and I really need to clean house. Rainy outside, so I don't know if I will get in any walking today or not. Gram is coming over this evening, so if it does clear up or at least not lightening, then I leave DD with her and take Roo to the track. I plan to work a little on the computer also. I was having lots of technically difficulties yesterday.

Hope every one has a great day.

Hi Lisa,

I'm glad to hear that you guys liked G-Force. Thanks for the heads up about the 3-D thing too. My DDs are really looking forward to seeing it!

We haven't decided what our financial goals will be for August yet. We've had so much drama over here that we haven't had a chance to give it much thought. I suppose my DH and I should figure it out soon or we'll be doing our August No Buy in September! LOL!:lmao:

Were you able to get your walk in with Roo last night?

I hope you have a great day ahead!

I am just so mad at myself.
I woke up on time this morning, but got up late. Just takes me a long time sometimes. I really think I need a new matress. This one is only 3yrs old, but it's just not working for me. Anyway, got up late, got ready for work and couldn't decide what to wear. :confused3 Clothes, of all things, I'm late and can't decide what to wear. Then DD got up early. Wanted to go with me instead of spending the day with her Dad. :confused3 She knows she can't, but we go through this anyway and always when I am running late. Dog was whining, cat was crying and I'm sure the fish would have been making noise if it could have. Gave the dog some water, the cat and fish some food. Got DD settled on the couch and found her something to watch. Got to work to learn that my cartridges I desperately need weren't ordered as promised. It's time to start a new project I don't want to do, cause it is just going to be a huge waste of time. My time and I know it won't go anywheres. Then I got a coke out of the fridge, opened it and it started foaming all over my hands. Not spewing, thankfully, but ruined just the same. Great, now on top of everything else, a Coke has been wasted. and then the pity party started. :sad1:

That is when I got mad at myself. Look at me. I am healthy, have a family, friends, a home and a job. What is wrong with me?:confused3 There are so many people out there who are having real trouble and I am upset over a Coke. Then I slowly started realizing what the problem is. I didn't get to walk last night and even though I didn't, I could have done some exercising at home. Even thought about it and I know DD would have joined me. Gram wanted to go out to eat last night and we ended up at a buffet. I tried to eat good and did for the most part, but the rolls do me in every time. At least they are making them smaller. DH came home and was telling us about the fabulous time he had in Destin. Yes, I was feeling jealous. Then this morning I got on the scale and it hasn't moved. Which can actually be considered a good thing. It didn't go down, but it didn't go up either. :upsidedow
Where to go from here?

Didn't want to lose a big post again, so I decided to break it up.

Time to revamp things a little and take some of my own advice. At the beginning of the weekend, every time I start to eat, I think, oh, I am going to have to write this down for my Wish sisters to read and I have actually stopped a few times.

I am going to change up exercising also. On the nights I don't walk, I will do something at home. I used to have a set of exercises I would do, simple stuff, and I am going to start doing them again. Sit ups, leg lifts and a few other things. Like I said simple stuff. Worked before, maybe it will again.

At work, I am taking the stairs. I always walk down them (my office is on the 2nd floor), but usually only walk up a couple times a day. Now I will always walk up unless I am carrying something that is too heavy to do it safely. I will always walk to the farthest restroom and take the long way around to get the mail each afternoon. Little things, but hopefully they will make a difference. :goodvibes

This afternoon went much better. I walked to the other building twice and across the street to the post office once. I walked up and down the stairs and didn't take the elevator once. And I took the long way around where ever I went. E and I and the boys walked for an hour tonight. About four miles I think, we didn't really keep track of our distance, just time.

Food:
Breakfast - cup of milk and 1/2 bagel
Lunch - pasta and tuna dish and 1/2 bar of Godiva chocolate w/almonds
Dinner - bowl cereal

I received three gift cards in the mail today. Two $25 Southwest cards for my January trip and $25 Cracker Barrell card. :woohoo:
Also, we tried to sign up for Direct TV again so that will be another 5000 points to My Points. I have plan for those so I hope they post when they are suppose to. :thumbsup2

Now I plan to get a little work done on the computer and then head to bed.

Way to go on the gift cards, Lisa!!:cheer2: I've been meaning to ask you...Besides SR, what rewards programs do you use?

I think doing some exercises at home on your days off from walking is a great idea!:cheer2: I've decided to try and get some more movement in my day because often, I'm either in front of a computer or I'm sitting down teaching the girls at the kitchen table. Every little bit helps, right? :goodvibes

Hope you have a great day today!

Wow, gift cards, just what you need to brighten your day! I love, love, love Cracker Barrel. Thank goodness there isn't one remotely close to me!

Its hard to work out if your routine gets messed up. By setting up a new routine that has a built in back up plan when you can't walk outside, you are setting yourself up for success! And I hear you on the weekends, they do us all in pretty much every week.

You do have a lot to be thankful for, but its okay to get in a funk sometimes and just have that pity party! And if that had been me (I have a temper) I woudl have whaled that coke across the room!

Keep up the good work Lisa!:cheer2:

Tracy and Amy
Thank you both. I feel so much better today. All I have to do is think of one of the Wish kids and their families and I am right back on track.

You are right Tracy, more movement through out the day. I have a desk job and find myself sitting in front of my cpu and quite a while without moving. Now I make it a point to get up and walk down the hall at least once an hour. and then I come home and sit some more. What did we do before home cpus and the Dis?:confused3

The rewards programs I do. My Coke Rewards, MyPoints, InboxDollars, Sunshine Rewards, My Survey, Marie Brighton, Light Speed and Shared Reviews. I am trying a couple others, but not having much success thus far. I have decent success with most of them, accept for Inbox and Sunshine. I don't earn like others though cause I rarely qualify for surveys. Haven't figured that one out. Guess I just don't have that many interests. and I have really cut down on my shopping.

Oh yes, I do the Nielsen Homescan program. Haven't gotten anything from that yet, but it is interesting. I was surprised when I down loaded this week and only had two shopping trips. I know that I forgot to upload when I bought milk a couple of times, but only two? That is awesome for me. :cool1:

Food for today
Breakfast: glass of milk, whole bagel w/jelly
Lunch: bowl of gumbo and a couple crackers (crackers were stale)
snack: 1/2 Godiva chocolate bar w/almonds
Dinner: bowl of cereal
Snack: 3 pieces of beef jerky

Amy, yes, I have a temper also. But when it comes to me Coke I was like this:sad: Yes, I am a coke-a-holic. Soda people, that is soda! Just wanted to clarify that.:lmao:

Exercise:
Walked across the street at work and to our main building twice.
Took the stairs every time.
Walked tonight and almost got in 4 miles, but then the thunder started rather loudly, so I left. E never showed up, she was helping with soccer sign up tonight. I did rather well on my timing and had hoped to try for five miles. Oh well, there is always Thursday.

Thanks for sharing what rewards programs you do, Lisa. :goodvibes I basically stick to Sunshine Rewards, My Points, Swag Bucks, Quick Rewards, and My Survey. My girls do the Kidzeyes surveys too.

Great job getting your walk in yesterday!:cheer2:

Hope you have a great day today!

Lisa, I am originally from Texas and all carbonated drinks were called Coke! To us, soda was baking soda, not something you drank! And I used to be a coke addict too, but I have pretty much conquered that and only allow myself one or two diets a week. Not that my frame reflects that change or anything!

I need to check on those reward things you and Tracy do.

You are doing very well with food and exercise! Keep up that good work. When is the 1/2 marathon by the way?

Tracy, I'll have to look into the survey site for kids. DS does one every once in a while on mine.

Amy, the marathon is the weekend of January 8, 2010. I'm 1/3 way to my goal. Where did you live in Texas? I have brothers in Houston and Beaumont and I lived in Austin for a few years.

Great thing happened last night. I went by a neighbor's house and she was like "Have you lost weight?" :cool1: Yes, Yes, Yes! Someone noticed!. While the scale hasn't moved, I think I look a little bit better. That made me feel so good. :goodvibes

Today, last day of summer vacation for the kids, so I took DD and her friend to the water park. Not a real big one, but fun for a day. There are four slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and two children's areas with small slides and stuff. We did everything!. Our favorite was the completely enclosed slide. We stayed there for four hours and I have a question. Can count all those stairs as exercise? Plus walking all over the park at least four times? I'm tired tonight.

When we got home this afternoon, it was time to go by the school for meet the teacher. School starts tomorrow. New teacher for DD seems nice, and very laid back. Two of DD's classmates from last year are in her class this year, but neither of her best friends again. I'm now thinking that might be a good thing. DS didn't want to go to the school. Being high school and all now, I guess it just isn't cool to have your mom come meet your teachers. :rotfl:

Food for today.
Breakfast: cereal
Lunch (late): hamburger, about 5 fries and 3 McDonald cookies. You know the kids ones that come in a box and are McDonald characters shapes. I love those things and hated when they got rid of them so long ago.
Snack: chocolate covered peanuts (handful)
Dinner: roast, rice, gravy, corn, roll and glass of milk.

That's it for today. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the compliment, Lisa!:cheer2: Doesn't it make you feel good when someone notices that you're losing weight? :yay:

It sounds like yesterday was a fun day! And yes....most definitely count the stairs and walking as exercise!:thumbsup2

Can you believe it's time for school again? I don't know where summer has gone! Sending some :wizard::wizard: for your kids to have a great first day back!:goodvibes

Have a great Thursday!

Lisa,

I was born in Dallas and lived there until I was six. But I will always be a Texas Girl at heart! We still have family that lives all over the state and try to get back as often as we can. I love the south as does Dan and would love to live anywhere east of Texas if we could. But since our house is currently down about 20% with no end in sight, we have to stay put!

That is so awesome somebody noticed you have toned up and lost weight! That really makes the hard work worth the effort.

You can totally count those stairs and walking around as exercise! I love waterparks, and can relate to being worn out after you spend a day at one.

Good luck with back to school, I can't believe its that time of year again.

Hi Ladies
Yesterday was a busy day with first day of school and all. In the evening we had some rather strong storms go through and then the internet wouldn't work. Finally came up late, but then it was so slow that I gave up.

First day of school went great for both kids. DD was happy and said she likes her new teachers. DS loves high school. He said it is so different from Jr High and is amazing. We'll see how it feels by Christmas. The only class he is concerned about is English. The teacher gave them the syllabus for the entire semester yesterday and it is daunting. But DH and I are happy to have it so we will know what he is to be doing and when it is due.

Only glitch yesterday was the bus ride home. New bus, new driver and first day doesn't equal up very well. Last year they were home by 4:00. Yesterday it was 4:50. Seems there were issues at the Elementary and the buses which should have left there at 3:00 to go to the high school, didn't leave until 4:00. I was not happy that DD, who is 6, was on the bus for 2 full hours. Hopefully they will figure out the problems and today will be better.

Only exercise I got yesterday was walking at work and climbing stairs.

Food:
Breakfast: 3/4 bagel
Lunch: leftover roast, rice and gravy and 1/2 Godiva dark chocolate w/rasberries
Dinner: bowl of cereal
Snack: 2 pieces beef jerky

Now for the good news: Weighed this morning and I lost 1.5lbs!
