Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Hi Lisa, hope things are going well for you! I am betting you are training away for the 1/2 Marathon!

Merry Christmas!:santa:

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas.

I apologize for being gone so long and thank you for staying with me. I have really missed you all. REALLY.

I have been training for the 1/2, but have gotten completely off schedule and am not where I wanted to be. I have reworked my schedule AGAIN :rotfl: and am trying to be confident that I will still succeed.

I completely let things get out of control and have barely had a moment to myself at home and at work. This past month has been nuts. So DH is taking the kids to New York for a week this coming Monday and I am staying home. This way I will be able to concentrate and my training without having to take care of anyone in the evenings. DH has been supportive of my training.

I am going to split this up so I don't lose what I have typed.

This past month.
Completely clean house to get ready (decorate) for Christmas.
Dec 4 - Cleaned and Chloee spent the night for the first time.
Dec 5 - It snowed!!!! Birthday party for Sophia and more cleaning. Got stuff out of the attic and shopping w/John
Dec 6 - Cleaned and Decorated
Dec 7 - Christmas parade. DD and I were to walk with her dance school (they won Best Dance School) but it rained all the way up to parade start, so I opted not too. But DS14 did walk with ROTC and he was selected to be part of the color guard that led the parade.
Dec 8 - walked and cleaned
Dec 9 - cleaned and decorated
Dec 10 - mored cleaning and decorating
Dec 11 - shopping for party and more cleaning. DD spent the night w/April at Sophia's house
Dec 12 - we had our annual Christmas party for the people DH works with and a few friends included in. Our 16th year for the party.
Dec 13 - recover from party. walked 8 miles with E in her neighborhood.
Dec 14 - dance and Dneice Christmas Program for school
Dec 15 - finish shopping for work Christmas party
Dec 16 - wrap all 50 gifts for work Christmas party
Dec 17 - work Christmas party and take Gram to airport in New Orleans, shopped on way home

Dec 18 - Christmas shopping with DH for his family (were we late or what?)
Also did some shopping for the kids. Got home at 1:30am and I stayed up wrapping and packaging everything for DH's family. Went to bed at 3:30am. DD spent the night at Chloee's grandmothers. First time to spend the night away from home without me or April. She succeeded!!!!!!

Dec 19 - Up at 7:15am for vet appointment. Roo had an excellant appointment but needs to brush her teeth better.:confused3 I try, but she doesn't like the tooth brush. I figure eventually she will give in and realize I am more stubborn than she is.
Then off to get DD from sleepover and take her to a hair appointment. After hair appointment we did a little shopping and then to a cookie decorating party. After party we went to a Disney store so she could spend some of her birthday gift card she got for her birthday. (an uncle sent her a $75 Disney gc for her birthday, but it didn't arrive before we left. He confused the date of our trip)

Dec 20 - Walked just over six miles. I got a late start and then dressed too warmly. I also walked a new route and it had too many hills for my not walking regular. I was disappointed in this day.

Dec 21 - rained. HARD, couldn't get out, no internet for some reason
Dec 22 - walked 6 miles
Dec 23 - got off work half day and went to the Coast to pick up some furniture for oldest DS. My first Craig's List purchase. Ihave heard horror stories so was leary, but it was okay. Spent the evening doing stuff around the house and trying to wrap presents. Finally gave up and watched a movie with DD.
Dec 24 - DD and I went to New Orleans for a bit of last minute shopping (I never do this!) and we had fun. We have started going to the Christmas Eve service at the church we were married in on the Coast. It is too far for us to go to regularly, but there is just something special about going on Christmas Eve. After Church we stopped for dinner (I couldn't believe there was some place open) and then off to home. I had wrapping to do. Lots of wrapping. DH and the kids fell asleep on the couch watching Polar Express. We got them to bed and then set everything out.

And here we are. December 25. Christmas Day
DD woke us up about 7:15am. Late for her. We stalled by having her do various things. She missed the Night Before Christmas Reading last night, but before she and DS14 opened stockings, she was reading to him. Finally we got up and got oldest DS up. We had a nice morning and then DH and I went back to bed. Our friends Mary and Mark came over for dinner and we had a nice time. Then I fell asleep watching Mickey's Christmas Carol. and now here I am. DD had hard time falling asleep tonight, 1 - she took a very long nap today and 2 - she didn't want the day to be over. Everyone is asleep now, even the dog.

I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and was able to celebrate how you wish. :goodvibes

Welcome Back, Lisa!:goodvibes Sounds like you have been super busy over the past few weeks. I'm glad that you'll have some time for yourself next week.:goodvibes

I'm glad that you had a nice Christmas. :santa: I always take a nap on Christmas day, even if it's just for a few minutes. ;)

Hope you have a nice weekend!

Merry Christmas Lisa, I am so glad to see you! Life gets busy sometimes and with all you have going on, its understandable. I know you will be successful with your training and the 1/2 marathon!

I am so glad you had a nice Christmas. I can't believe you got snow, but I guess maybe that was a treat? If you want more, I can always send you some of ours!

Amy and Tracy
Thank you so much for stopping by and not giving up on me. :goodvibes

Sunday
I walked 8.5 miles. I have switched to walking in my neighborhood versus the track as I want more of a road feel, which I am getting, but I have lots of hills to conquer and cars to deal with (no sidewalks). I did complete mileage, but was very poor on my time. I was in a funky mood and had not slept well. I just couldn't get a pace going.
Sunday afternoon we went by a co-workers house who had a tv and mattress set for oldest DS.

Monday
I worked all day and then took DH and the two younger kids to the airport. They were attempting to fly to upstate New York. They almost made it but were re-routed to Pittsburgh for the night. They made it in to Rochester this morning. :sad2: should have flown in the morning, but hey:confused3 what do I know, right?
After I dropped them off I went to the mall. The big one in New Orleans with a huge JCPenneys.:cloud9: All by myself and no one to know what time I was getting home. I know, doesn't take much to make me happy. Got DD a Christmas dress for next year at 60% off and me a new walking outfit for next week. Everything was on sale and I had a $10 coupon. :woohoo: Then I stopped at Target to browse all the sales. Got home and got on line. Was able to read and type for a whole hour without interruption. :cloud9: I love my family, but sometimes...........

Tuesday
Today I am at work and will attempt to do 6 miles tonight. I will take Roo for the first two and since I am in my neighborhood, I will be able to drop her off at the house while I do four more. Then my oldest DB is bringing Gram home today so I will join them for dinner. and then back home to more quiet and Dis time. Really.....it doesn't take much to make me happy.

More happy news to report.
My oldest DS24 is moving into an apartment. :woohoo:

About a month ago he was finally given a promotion :goodvibes but it involved moving to a new store in another town about 45 minutes away. He works nights to driving home at 2:00am, dog tired, in thunderstorms is not appealing to him. We had been discussing him moving out (okay, I have been saying "Get out of my house":rotfl2:) and he finally has the motivation to do it. So, in addition to everything else, I helped him find a place and have been collecting things for his apartment. He has absolutely nothing but clothes, a computer and a car.

So far, I have a mattress set, bed frame, dresser, two nightstands, microwave, dishes, tv and now a couch. A co-worker brought me a small couch for him today. :thumbsup2 He even had it cleaned, bless his heart. and wouldn't let me pay him for it. I was amazed when I saw it, it is very nice. Except for where a cat used the back corner as a scratching post, but hey, that will go againist the wall and not be seen. Just a few more things and I will feel very comfortable on pushing him out the front door and changing the locks. :lmao: Just kidding.....:rolleyes1 He is set to move January 9 while I am at Disney.

and the best part is.......I get my extra bedroom back.:cool1::woohoo:

Yes, I am happy, but mostly because he really needs to be on his own to figure things out before he decides to settle down and one day have a family.

Great news that DS is moving out! Not just for you, but for him too. I'm sure he will be happy to be out of mom's house. ;)

I bet walking in the neighborhood will be more challenging with the hills. Hopefully you will get to the point where you are in a routine. Stinks that there are not sidewalks, be careful!

Hi Amy, thanks for stopping by. I am going to catch up on your thread tomorrow. Y'all go so fast (and I keep getting interrupted at work) that I can only read one a lunch time.

I live in a neighborhood, yet it is in the country with each lot being 1 acre or more. They tried to keep the country feel to it, so......no sidewalks. I wish they would have at least done bike lanes. But the grassy part between the road and ditch is wide in most parts. I am so skittish that when a car comes, I get as far off of the road as possible. Too many people on cell phones not paying attention.

Yesterday, I did 5.6 miles at 15 minute miles. Some one was burning brush in the branch I walk by and I can't handle the smoke so I had to change my route. Then after I had dinner with Gram and my oldest DB, I tracked the route I did in the car. I used to walk this route all the time with Roo, but never paid attention to how far or how fast I was. Now those things matter.

I'm getting nervous........:upsidedow I just want to finish in the alloted time.

That's great news about DS24! :goodvibes

You are going to do a great job at the marathon, Lisa! :cheer2:

I hope you have a great day today! Happy New Year!party:

Happy New Year's to all of my wonderful Dis Friends! I hope everyone has a fantastic 2010.:goodvibes

Happy New Year Lisa!

You will finish the 1/2 in the alloted time.:thumbsup2 You have trained hard, for many months and your body is ready to meet this challenge!

When do you leave for WDW?

The thought of a few days alone in my house, *****turbed would make me very happy too! We all love our families, but hey, distance makes the heart grow fonder!

That is great news about ds. It sounds like its the right time for him to get out into the world and spread his wings. That is awesome you got so many great things to get him started out.

Enjoy your three day weekend!

Whew, that was ambitious, especially with no sidewalks! I hear ya about the people on cell phones (and probably half of them texting). But that sounds like an excellent session.

Hello!:wave2: and :welcome: Thanks for joining in. The more the merrier. Did I read your ticker right? 70 cruises? after I am done with this marathon, perhaps you would be willing to share some info? DH has been campaigning for a cruise for years. Or do you have a thread. This topic would make an excellant thread.

Yesterday I had to work all day and as usual, there was a last minute problem but I am very happy to say that we got it fixed and the acting supervisor was soooo happy that we did, he let me go an hour early. I did my annual use all of the expiring coupons that I could. I did excellant at Target. Everything I bought was either on sale, I had double coupons for or both. Then I stopped at Winn Dixie for more excellant deals. and I didn't buy anything I didn't need. :thumbsup2:banana:

I went to E's house for New Year's Eve for dinner and fireworks. Last year it was so cold that the ladies stayed inside with the kids for the most part. The big kids (our DHs) shot fireworks all night, so we watched Mama Mia. Last night we watched it again and decided it would be an annual thing for us. E, Colby and I are trying to learn one of the dances so we can dress up and perform at our daughter's weddings one day. Good thing they are both 7 and we have plenty of time to practice. I am home early (about 10:45) to be with Roo. She is very scared of fireworks and the neighbors behind us do a lot and they are very big and loud. They didn't stop until about 2:00am, so I was up until then.

This morning I took Roo out and then I did my walk. I did 8.7miles today and was very happy that I could have kept going and I have felt fine all day. A little stiff in the hips if I sit for too long, so I just keep getting up and doing things.
I went to Colby's for lunch, watched a little tv, worked a bit at the dance studio, ran a couple errands, went to Mary's for dinner and then home. I have straightened the pantry, done some laundry and worked on coupons. I also watched several episodes of Biggest Loser. I have never watched it before, but have heard you all talk about it some. One of the channels was doing a marathon of the show. I got to see the final and I was so impressed with what these "losers" went through and accomplished. Absolutely amazing! I was really pulling for Shay. Can't believe the challeng Subway put to her. I really hope she succeeds. Not just for the $$ though. She has made such a wonderful start.

It is 1:00am here and I guess time for bed. So glad everyone made it to 2010 safe and sound.

Great job getting that mileage in! And even greater that you aren't having any soreness from it. :thumbsup2

I like watching the Biggest Loser (DD10 is absolutely addicted to it) just to see the transformation everyone goes through. And some people do way better than others at keeping it off!

We'll actually be boarding Disney cruise #72 at the end of the month. Please ask me any questions about the cruises at all...I love to talk cruising in general and Disney in particular. Only problem is, their adults-only restaurant Palo is a real diet-killer. Thankfully they have a well equipped gym, exercise classes and a jogging deck (although you have to dodge shuffleboard players and slowly wandering souls).
