Lisa's Running Away from Excuses Journey....Please Comment

Whew, it's been a busy couple of days at our house, lol. Haven't had much time to Dis, but I am happy to say that I have squeezed in a few workouts here and there, lol. Let's see, where do I need to update from.....I took off on Thursday because I had a game. Friday I didn't have time for a very long workout, so I hit the treadmill and did a 1.5 mile in 18:23, which is a 12:15 pace. Not so bad I guess; I finished walking out to 25:00 total minutes.

Saturday I took off again because it was work day at the house to catch up to the work the contractor has been doing. That meant knocking out a horsehair plaster and lath wall (messy!!), and painting my new bedroom- 1 coat of primer, some light sanding, then 2 coats of paint. Oh, and then I stained all the trim for the room too. Does all that count as cross training?!?! I know I was exhausted at the end of the day!

Sunday I got up early and went outside to run- it was 28 outside, which is downright balmy compared to the past couple weeks! ;) Since it was cold, I only did a mile for time, and then walked for about a 1/2 mile. I finished my mile route that I did when I first started about a month and half ago now- I couldn't finish it then. Not only did I finish this time, I did my best time yet- 11:44 for the mile! Yeah! :cloud9:

I weighed in for the week when I got back, and I was down 1 pound! Down to 162.5 now....I need to pick it up in that dept; I feel like I have been slacking a little on eating habits lately. I just can't wait to see the 150's- I haven't been there since before I got pregnant with ds.

Well, today I will hit the treadmill after work, and I hope to do an extra workout or two this week to see how things go since I don't have any games this week.

Have a great Monday everyone!
Lisa

Hey Lisa-I totally know the feeling about being busy the last few days!!

WTG for getting in a workout on friday! And, yes all that housework should count as XT!!!!

WTG on your mile time!! That is awesome....keep up the good work!

Enjoy your downtime this week!!! I will feel much better once friday gets here because I have off next week!!!! I am counting down the days until my downtime!!

Ok, I KNOW that I posted my times yesterday on here, but today it isn't showing up! My computer was acting up last night though, so here is another recap....

I ran 2.25 miles!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: That is the farthest yet! I finished it in 28:33, which was a 12:41 pace, so I was pretty proud of that.

Looks like a lot of snow predicted for today here, so I think I am going to take the day off and doing some shoveling instead, lol.

Have a great day everyone!
Lisa

Lisa,

You are doing a fabulous job! :cheer2: That is great that you ran over 2 miles! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

We're getting lots of snow today too..... I think I'll let my DH shovel the driveway though.... I'm too sore from two days of workouts to help!:rotfl:

Stay warm!:goodvibes

Hey Lisa--You are doing an awesome job!! WTG on your workout!

And considering the shoveling you did a XT workout!!

Stay warm and hang in there with all this snow! I know the feeling, my XT workout will probably be shoveling tomorrow too!!

Ok, I was able to get in a treadmill run today, despite the awful weather we are stuck in right now. I decided to do a speed workout, and then do an incline workout, since I am hearing that the entire first mile of the first race I want to do is UPHILL! AHHHH! What am I thinking?!?!

So, I cranked up the speed (and my MP3 player, lol!) and finished a mile in my lowest time of 11:07! Yeah! Then I did one minute at a 5% incline, (which totally KICKED MY BUTT!!), and then lowered the incline and finished out a total of 15 minutes, going a distance of 1.31 miles, which is a 11:27 pace. I felt pretty good today; I had new shoes on, and I didn't realize how broken down my last pair were until I ran today- my legs felt great!

I think tomorrow will be off, and then maybe a long run scheduled for Friday.

Lisa

Great job getting your personal best time in Lisa!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Stay warm and have a great weekend!:goodvibes

Well, I took a couple days off, just to revive myself a little bit- I felt like between work, our ongoing renovations at home, and just the winter doldrums I was just getting run down a little. I had a surprise when I took off though- I actually MISSED running!!! Never thought those words would ever enter my vocabulary! ;)

So, today I started back with a nice long slow run outside. It is supposed to hit the 40 degree mark later in the week, which is downright tropical for us here lately. I am looking forward to getting outside.

Today I thought I would just go long and not worry about time; just stop when I felt tired. I didn't map out my route ahead of time like I usually do- just went, and turned according to patches of ice/slush that was on the roads. I got home and I mapped out the route- I knew it had to be pretty good, because I checked my watch after I was done, and I ran for 28:55, which I think is the longest time so far......and whaddya know? I ran 2.4 MILES!!!! Yeah! That felt really good! I now am starting to conquer that fear that I won't be able to finish my first race. I think the next step might be for me to actually drive up to the race course and run that to get the feel for it- I work this weekend, but maybe next I can do that.

Also this weekend, I didn't worry about food- and ended up being just fine, and DOWN 1 POUND!! It is a good day.

I took a nice relaxing day yesterday and did a photoshoot for my friend of her 4 month old ds, which was so much fun. Photography is something I just love doing, and I am saving up for a camera that I want SO bad, so this is giving me good practice! All in all, I feel like I am in a good place right now.

Hope everyone has a great week!
Lisa

All in all, I feel like I am in a good place right now.

This made me smile, Lisa! That is wonderful that you have such peace right now. :cloud9: What a great place to be!:goodvibes

I think it's a good idea to take some time off of exercise every once in awhile. I find that when I take a couple of days off, it makes me want to exercise and get back in the game even more.:yay:

That's great that you got 2.4 miles in! You are going to do a great job on your first race! Keep up the good work!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Have a great Tuesday!:cool1:

Hey Lisa--sorry i have been MIA for awhile! I was away last week and still trying to catch up on everybody's posts.

Sounds like you are doing a great job!! Keep up the good work! It is funny that you said you took a couple of days off and missed running, because last week when I was away, I couldn't wait to run again!!

WTG for losing the 1 pound! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I hope you have a great week!

You're doing AWESOME, Lisa! Running over 2 miles is quite the accomplishment!

Hope you stay warm with the snow that seems to keep heading your way.

Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Lisa---Haven't heard from you in awhile.... I hope all is well with you.

Let us know how you are doing.

Hello, everyone- sorry I have DISappeared for a little while- I haven't been able to DIS much lately with my crazy schedule!

My girls basketball team is still playing in playoffs; we are done district play, and now they have made it through the first round of states. Next game is Wed night, so that has been keeping me busy.

Last week I was down for the count with strep throat, so I didn't do much running at all; decided to give my body a much needed rest!

Also, we are still going strong on the remodeling projects. Our new bedroom is officially done TODAY!!! YEAH!!!! We haven't moved anything in yet, but hope to do that in the next couple days. The pantry/mud room/new bathroom has a lot more work- painting/tiling, etc. My goal is to completely finish everything by the end of the month.....then I can relax!!!

So, I have been running when able, which isn't too much lately I am afraid. I ran Saturday in a new pair of shoes, and it felt nice to be back out there. I need to start scheduling time for myself here very soon.

Good news is that I did my weigh-in on Saturday, and WHOO HOO!!! I am down to 159.5!!! That is 3 pounds down since last weigh-in a couple weeks ago, and it makes 10.5 total lost!!

Ok, time to go put a second coat of paint on some of the baseboard trim....night everyone, and thanks for checking in on me- I will try and be around a little bit more here very soon!!! :thumbsup2

congrats on the weight loss....you are certainly busy...remodeling is no easy task! Keep up the good work!

Hey Lisa,

Sorry to hear you were sick last week, I hope you are feeling better.

That is awesome about your basketball team....did they win their game??

Sounds great about your remodeling projects!! I bet it will be a huge relief when they are all done.

Great job on the weight loss, you are doing a great job! Keep up the good work.

Ok, hopefully I am back this time, lol. I just got over the strep throat last week- I finished up my last antibiotic on Thursday. Then Friday night I didn't feel too great, so I went to bed early- and woke up Saturday with an awful stomach virus!  I never even left the second floor of my house- I went only as far as my bed down to the bathroom and back again all day long. (And sometimes not even that far since Dh was nice enough to bring me up a bucket, lol.) Ugh, I felt terrible- chills and everything. Sunday was a little better, but my body was just completely wiped out.

I finally was able to get some soup down yesterday- it was the first food I had gotten in since Friday night. I feel better yet today, but just not quite 100%. My first race that I wanted to do is this coming Sunday, and is a big concern for me because it is uphill, and I haven't run in what seems like forever!! I did my first run today, and ran on the track so it was a little easier. I managed 1.75 miles, but my stomach was revolting the whole time. Tomorrow is a rest day, and then maybe Thurs I will try a 2 miler to see how the body holds up, then just a light jog Fri, and take Saturday off. I guess I will sign up for the race and just see what happens? I am a little scared now!!!

Well, my girls basketball team is still winning, which is good....I have to travel tomorrow night for their game, and if they win tomorrow (which I am sorry to say, is doubtful), then they play for the state championship on Saturday. I can't believe they made it to the final four! What an accomplishment! I am very proud of them. I have 2 seniors that have had ACL surgeries (one of the girls had BOTH knees done!), and as an athletic trainer, it still sometimes amazes me the things the human body is able to accomplish. It is very exciting for me just to see them be able to play.

Ok, now that I wrote my book, I didn't do a weigh-in this weekend- actually I did, but with being sick, I lost 8 pounds of water weight, so I thought that shouldn't count, lol. I will try and get that in next weekend, though.

I hope tomorrow to be able to catch up on some of your journals and see what everyone has been up to!
Lisa

Yikes! Well, here we go- I officially have my first ever race in 3 hours!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I am SOOOO nervous I can't stand it, and I am only running 2 miles!! haha

I just keep repeating my mantra..... "gotta finish, gotta finish, gotta finish," lol.

I will check back in a little later and post how it went! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Lisa-

I hope you race goes well today!! I can't wait to hear your report!
