Lisa's Journal (Life on the "Beach" - Part 2 all the way to goal!)

I've been stepping on my stupid scale everyday - so I'm in the same :boat: as you. I am going to try and restrain myself from checking it this weekend.

I have been slacking on my Firm workouts this week. While I do like them I have to admitt that they leave me feeling extremely tired. I've been tired enough this week so I've been avoiding them. I do plan on doing the workouts Saturday and Sunday morning (baby birth's permitting). I need to get back on track!

April 1, 2004 (Thursday) Day 123 on the Beach

Well it's a new month and as I look back on March, I am pretty pleased with my progress. I have lost about 8 pounds this month and stayed cheat free. I have also exercised for 4 months straight - of course I take my 1 or 2 off days per week but I have consistently worked out since I started SBD and I grabbed my four month exercise clippie. On to month 5!

One of the girls at work told me I was her hero! I think that is so kind and flattering (blush). She is doing well on SBD herself. She has lost almost 30 pounds and I am so proud of her and her progress. You guys should see how good she is looking. I notice she even walks taller and prouder. Taking off excess weight is good for you on so many levels! It's especially gratifying when you see someone who you referred to the program you are doing progressing so well!

Menu for today:
B: 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheese, 2 small sausage patties, 1 slice of whole wheat bread with strawberry simply fruit spread and 1/2 glass of 1% milk
S: 7 whole almonds
L: tuna salad with 7 whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. strawberry yogurt
D: grilled chicken breast with 1/2 cup of long grain converted rice and broccoli with carboptions cheddar cheese sauce with a n/s/a fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
No exercise today, it's a rest day. Water was a 4.75. That's still pretty good!

That's a wrap for Thursday!

Desiree - thanks for stopping by to see me. I hope you have a great weekend too!

Amanda - I forgot how when I first started working out with the FIRM how tired it made me feel. After a while, I did get this energy rush and that's the feeling I have everytime I work out now. Thursdays are my rest days and I hate them! I miss my work outs and how good I feel. I hope you can eventually get the same feeling. Have a couple of good work outs this weekend and take care!!!!

so lisa, you staying off that scale :p . hehe, i'm the "stay off the scale" advocate around here, at least i feel like i am :p

congratulations to you for a wonderful month of march! not only is your dedication to south beach an inspiration, but your dedication to your exercise as well :bounce: . and how great that story is about your coworker! i think that is so wonderful that you are such an inspiration to her, but i don't find it surprising at all, seeing how much inspiration you spread to all of us around here :hyper:

hope you have a great day :sunny:

April 2, 2004 (Friday) Day 124 on the Beach

Here's Friday's menu and execise:

B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk and 2 slices of bacon
S: 7 whole almonds
L: tuna salad with whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (strawberry)
D: a slice of crustless pizza and a salad with a n/s/a/ fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did my FIRM body sculpt (upper body) work out this morning and feel just great! Water level was about at 5.0. Pretty good.

That's a wrap for Friday!

Marcia - thanks for stopping by and giving me so much support. I've been really busy these past few days but I'm going to get over to your journal to see how things are with you. Take care !!!

April 3, 2004 (Saturday) Day 125 on the Beach

It's been a busy weekend but I want to make sure I record my food intake and my weigh in from this morning.

I lost 2.5 pounds this week. I'm very proud of that. I have now lost 48 pounds and stand 2 pounds from my 50 pound clippie and 5 pounds from my second 10% weight loss goal. I am very excited.

Menu:
B: 1 slice of whole wheat toast with strawberry simply fruit spread, 2 scrambled eggs with 1 slice of lf cheese and 3 slices of bacon
S: no snacks today
L: cajun grilled chicken salad from Ruby Tuesday's and 1 slice of lc cheesecake
D: fried fish (in canola oil) and homemade cole slaw (made with splenda and light mayo)

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM BSS1 cardio sculpt in the afternoon for my work out and water was a 2.75. Not good but it can be so hard on the weekends when you are running around to drink lots of water.

That's a wrap for Saturday!

Way to go, Lisa! :Pinkbounc You are doing a fabulous job with your diet and your exercise! You'll have that sparkling, brand new 50 lb. clippie very soon.::yes:: Keep on keeping on, Lisa!:moped: You are such an inspiration and I want you to know that I am very proud of you!:Pinkbounc ::yes::

Have a great week!

Tracy:wave2:

P.S. Where did this snow come from???

Your dinner sounds yummy! I am just so proud of you girl! Almost 50 lbs - that is like a 7 year old child right? Good for you!

April 4, 2004 (Sunday) Day 126 on the Beach

This evening we had a special celebration and I was able to wear a suit I bought about 8 years ago to the event. I was very pleased with myself. The suit has a navy skirt and red and navy jacket with a scarf that is white with navy polka dots on it. I even bought a nice pair of navy pumps to go with it. I got so many compliments on my weight loss. It's like you can really tell when you wear new clothes instead of the old stuff people are used to seeing you in everyday.

Menu:
B: slept in with daylight savings time and didn't eat breakfast
L: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk, 3 slices of bacon and 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheese
S: no snacks today
D: fried chicken breast (in canola oil), collard greens and 4 deviled egg halves with a slice of lc cheesecake from Ruby Tuesday's

Exercise/Water Gauge:
Today's exercise was FIRM ab sculpt with advanced moves. Boy is my bottom and my tummy sore but it's a good sore. Water level was about a 3.5. Not too bad for a weekend.

That's a wrap for Sunday!

Tracy - thanks for stopping by! I see you started our FIRM thread today. WTG with your exercise. Keep it up! Now if we could just do something about this cold weather . . .

Amanda - I've almost lost the weight of a 7 year old child? I never thought about it like that. I've thought about the 10# bags of potatoes and the large bags of dog food but not in terms of kids like you mentioned. Thanks for the visual. I hope you're having a good day!

woo hoo, i'm a couple days late, but congrats on the 2.5 pound loss this week!!! :bounce: ooh, that 50 pound clippie is very near in your future :Pinkbounc

that outfit sounds absolutely fabulous, and good for you for getting yourself a brand new pair of pumps to go with it :smooth:

i think you're definitely right about people noticing more when you wear new clothes, or at least clothes they've never seen you in. it's so easy to hide behind the old clothes, they're bigger, they're comfy, it's so easy to just stay in that comfort zone. it's hard to take that step to the new clothes, but it's so great that they really do fit, and that everyone does notice :hyper:

hope you have a great day :sunny:

April 5, 2004 (Monday) Day 127 on the Beach

Here is my menu for the day:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: 7 whole almonds
L: leftover crustless pizza with a salad with lf ranch dressing and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (strawberry)
D: fried (in canola oil) chicken breast with collard greens and 3 deviled egg halves - n/s/a fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I worked out this morning with the FIRM using the cardio sculpt blast video. I'm still a bit sore from yesterday's advanced ab work out but managed to only stumble over my feet a few times as I'm still learning the moves on this tape. It was a good work out though! Water level was a 4.5.

That's a wrap for Monday!

Marcia - thanks for checking on me! I appreciate it. I also appreciate the congratulations. I hope I can break 50 pounds by weigh in on Sunday. It might be possible if I stay way from the Carb Options ice cream treats. I'm making DH eat them.;)

Hi Lisa,

You've got 2 pounds for thqat clippie. That is definately possible. If not this week, then next week. I love your crustless pizza btw.

April 6, 2004 (Tuesday) Day 128 on the Beach

Here's my menu for Tuesday:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat cereal with 1% milk and 3 sausage links (didn't finish them all though)
S: 7 whole almonds
L: tuna salad and whole wheat crackers (about 7) and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. strawberry yogurt
D: taco salad with a n/s/a fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM body sculpt (lower body) this morning and I'm happy to say I did 6, count them, yes 6, "real" push ups! I have never done a real push up (up on your toes and using just your arms to pull your body up and down) in my life! I always do the easy girlie ones but I felt pretty strong this morning and wanted to give it a try. I'm so proud of myself! Of course I didn't do the whole routine with the real push ups and had to go back to the girlie ones but that's alright with me. Woohoo! Progress! I just love the FIRM. Water level was 5.0. Pretty good!

That's a wrap for Tuesday!

Beth - thanks so much for stopping by! I'm glad you like the crustless pizza. I brought in some leftovers to work the other day and several people commented on how good it looked. It was mighty tasty too! Take care!

Lisa:

I'm so happy for all your success. You are so close to that 50 lb clippie - congratulations!

Your navy suit sounds really nice - must be really fun to move the clothes hiding in the back of the closet to front and center! I got into a smaller pair of jeans last night and I was all giddy!

Keep up your hard work. It is definitely paying off!

April 7, 2004 (Wednesday) Day 129 on the Beach

My sister and I went bra shopping last night and I got professionally measured. I was so happy to find out that I can wear a size 46 when I was wearing a size 52 at my heaviest. I actually shouted out in surprise and delight. The sales lady told me that I could probably go for a 44. I thought she was crazy. There is no way I could fit into a 44. I've worn at least a 48 since high school. Imagine my surprise when I put the size 46 on this morning and it's too big. Woohoo! I'm going back for the 44!!!! :) It's so much fun to lose weight but it's even better to lose inches. I'm just so happy over this accomplishment. Even if I don't lose the full 2 pounds this week to make it the 50 pound club, I won't mind at all!

Here's today's menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk and 3 sausage links
S: 7 whole almonds
L: tuna salad with whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (peach)
D: beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice with a n/s/a fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I took today as a rest day and will pick back up with my FIRM cardio sculpt blast work out tomorrow. I hate rest days! Anyway, my water level was a 4.5. Not too bad but I'm going to work on stepping it up a bit.

That's a wrap for Wednesday!

Laurie - thanks for dropping by and checking on me. Getting into smaller clothes is just the best feeling!!! Keep up all your hard work.

Woo hoo!!!! Smaller bras are a BIG accomplishment!!! Good for you, Lisa!! I bet that navy suit looked beautiful on you - it sounded so pretty! I hope you're taking pictures of you in all these beautiful outfits!!

You continue to inspire me, Lisa, and I'm so glad you're here on the WISH journal board!

I hope your Thursday is terrific!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Congrats on the new bras. New bras can really give you a lift.:p I'm going through bras like crazy. I just wish they weren't so expensive. You are working so hare. I know you will be in the 50 pound club within a week. WTG!
:sunny:
Beth

Whoa, 6 manly man push ups?! Wow!!! I can't even do one. I'd be hard pressed to even do a girlie one.:p You know, I never did get that fanny lifter or sculpting stick since I'm doing Curves right now. Oh well, one of these days.

Oh my goodness, you'll be leaving for vacation soon. How can you stand it? I'm anxious for you. Have you started packing yet? I know that was a weird question, it's probably way too soon. I'm anal that way though, I've already started packing the clothes I've bought into ziplock bags and placed them inside the luggage. DH thinks I'm nuts.

Well, the weekend is coming up. Hope you have a restful one and I wish you well for weigh in on Sunday. Take care!:D

April 8, 2004 (Thursday) Day 130 on the Beach

I got on the scale this morning (I know I know) and found I have lost 1 pound. That puts me at 49 and hopefully when I weigh in on Sunday I will be down another pound and can claim a 50 pound loss and a 50 pound clippie. That would be incredible!

I wanted to take some time on my journal this morning since I am home from work today to reflect on something that has been on my mind the past few days. Someone on the main board posted a link to a BMI calculator that tells you what your ideal weight should be for you. My original weight goal was 145 pounds. That seemed almost unimaginable for someone at 280+ pounds. Now I understand I should be about 131 pounds. It made me a little depressed at first because that means I'm actually 15 additional pounds from the goal I envision.

As I said, I've been thinking about this and I've come to this conclusion. I am adjusting my goal weight 5 pounds to 140. When I get there I'll see if I want to lose an additional 5 or 6 pounds. I do the FIRM 5 or 6 times per week and can already wear some size 18's and I'm still over 200 pounds. What size will I be able to get into when I drop at least another 60 pounds? I think working out makes you leaner and able to weigh a bit more but still be able to fit into smaller sizes.

So my revised goal is 140 and then we'll see. I would be happy and very satisfied wearing a size 10. My fantasy is to wear a size 8 and I decided it's only out of reach because I am kinda scared to go for it. I don't want to be scared to get to the door of my dream and slam the door in my own face, I've got more confidence now and believe I can reach whatever weight loss goal I want. So if I weigh 140 and can wear a size 10, then I'll go down the additional 5 or 6 pounds and try for the 8. But want my weight to rest somewhere between 134-140.

I know this was rambling and I apologize to anyone that is reading this but it's important to me to figure out where I want to get to eventually on this journey. It's about the journey for me now and not the destination but eventually I gotta get somewhere, ya' know?:cool1:

Menu:
Here's today's menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat cereal with 1% milk and 3 sausage links
S: 7 whole almonds
L: tuna salad with whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (strawberry)
D: grilled bacon cheeseburger and a salad with lf ranch dressning with a 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM cardio sculpt blast this morning and feel real good. I love my FIRM work outs and hate having to take a rest day. I feel much more like myself when I work out. I almost feel like I have a little black rain cloud over my head all day on the days I don't work out. :umbrella: Glad it's not there today! Water level was a solid 5.0. Very good.

That's a wrap for Thursday!

Doe - thanks for stopping by and checking on me! It's always nice to have your sunny and supportive posts to help lift me up. I hope you have a great weekend!

Beth - I appreciate your checking me! I can't believe that bra doesn't fit and you are right about them being so expensive and that's why mine is going back for a smaller size and hopefully one that has a bit more support for my girls!

Lisa - Hey WISH-sis! So good of you to stop by. I'm so excited about the push-ups. I have never been able to do them before. I just love the FIRM! I know it's helping to make me strong and healthy. I hope you can start working out the FIRM eventually but I know you've got your Curves work outs and they sound fun! I can't believe my vacation is so close. I am getting pretty excited and so is my sister. I haven't started packing yet but I am getting into trip mode. I hope you have a great weekend!

Good morning Lisa!
Looks like we are in for a nice day today before the bottom drops out on Sunday. I guess we'll have to move the girls' Easter egg hunt indoors. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the nicer weather today.

Congratulations on the weight loss! :jumping1: Woohoo! Only 1 pound away and that shiny new 50 lb. clippie is yours! Way to go Lisa!!

I really like how you are being flexible about your weight goal. I think that your revised plan is a good one to strive for. You have been very commited to FIRMing and to your diet and I know that you will meet your goals! You are such an inspiration Lisa! Thank you!

Have a great weekend and keep up the good work! Happy Easter!

Tracy :wave2:
