I couldnt wait to make all the plans for this trip! I was so excited!!
Our trip started on 6/27 our flight left from MSP (Minneapolis, St. Paul airport) at 6:30 am, so DFI's mom picked me up at 4:30 am and took us to the airport. It was fairly busy but we got through check in and security with enough time to spare, to get a little breakfast Cinnabon! Our flight left on time, and we arrived at Dallas Fort Worth at around 10 am and had about an hour to spare til our flight left for CA, so DFI got breakfast and I watched
Our second flight left on time and at about 11:30 am we arrived in Orange County, CA!! We got our luggage which was relativly painless..as mine is neon pink, Dfi's was a little harder to spot as his is plain jane black, hopped on the Super Shuttle, and headed off to Anaheim, we were the first hotel on this list, the Ramada Maingate, it looked different than what I had imagined, although not in a bad way, it was just layed out a little differently then pictures I had seen had lead to belive. Since it was 12 noon I knew it was too early to check in, the girls behind the desk were really nice and told me they could pre-register me and hold on to my luggage till the real check in time of 3 pm, we put our luggage in the "luggage closet" along with everyone else, it was a little nerve racking as I had our dvd player and our Disney packet in my luggage. We both took a minute to call our parents and thought about what we should do with the rest of our day, I had made PS at the Blue Bayou at 6:50 and I wanted to make sure that we still had the PS, so we walked over to Disneyland, Security took a minute to get used to but I had getting through security quickly down pat by the end of our trip
I could not belive I was actually setting foot in Disneyland! I was wayy to excited for my own good!! When we got on to Mainstreet I saw * and heard* that Mickey was on the Matterhorn, when I saw that I just started to cry, I was a dream come true to be there. We wandered in to Fantasyland and our first ride was Snow Whites Scary adventures, then we hopped on Pinochio both were fairly fast lines, we wandered around a little more and walked through Frontier land into New Orleans Square, found the Blue Bayou and checked to see if we still had our PS and we did, I wanted to check out the shops around the Blue Bayou, we went into the Crystal store *the name escapes me now* and the Villans store, Pieces of Eight, past the ornament store, and into Dianne's Estate Jewerly. I looked in the case and I loved a few of the rings that I saw, when the man was done waiting on another couple he came over to us and I asked to see some of the rings, he was so nice!! I really loved two of the estate jewerly pieces. We looked at the prices, and found that I could get two of one of the rings for the price of the other. He had me try the cheaper one on and I was in love, the man didnt push the higher priced jewerly, didnt push me in to buying it, he just simply explained the different payment options if we were interested and gave me a card. We thanked him and told him we'd think about it. Adam was so impressed with how we were treated he told me that he'd do business with them!
We walked over to the Haunted Mansion and rode that, ooh so much fun! And over in to Critter County to ride Winne the Pooh. Adam got a kick out of that ride. We looked at the time and decided to leave to get checked in to our hotel room and rest before dinner. We were checked in to the newer section of the hotel on the 4th floor, our room was located right across from the elevator! At first I though oh no, were gonna be kept up by everyone and there brother using the elevator, but really in the entire time we were there only once did I hear someone! The room was nice and clean, it was perfect for us, no mold or bugs, nice and cool with the air conditing, I would stay there again! We layed down for a little bit and then got dressed for dinner. We headed back to Disneyland at about 6:15 this time I didnt bring my purse and just stuck my billfold in my pants pocket. We got to New Orleans square about 6:30 or so and there was a line at check in, We checked in and were seated a little before 6:50, I was blown away with how pretty it is inside the resturant, The paper laterns, and sounds of the Bayou! We didnt have a water seat, but we were pretty close, so I could still see the boats as they passed by. We shared the Gumbo, and the Prime Rib, It was very very tasty! As was the Mint Juelips! I really wanted one of the collecter dessert plates so we shared the Creme Bruele, ohhhhh was that ever good! our bill came to $63 dollars with the 25 dollar plate/dessert. So had we not gotten the dessert it was really not that expensive. after dinner we made our way back and we rode Jungle Cruise, that was a blast! After that is was back to Mainstreet and past the fireworks crowd into Tomorowland. We rode Star Tours and Honey I shrunk the audience, both were fun, but we were exhausted after being up for over 30 hours. So we headed out of the park and back to the hotel to go to bed..I fell in to bed and dont recall anything else, not even getting changed into my pjs! We woke up early the next day and decided becuase we had Ps at Ariel's Grotto we would make it a DCA day. We walked into DCA and walked through the right hand side to make it to the Pier, I took a picture of Ariel's Grotto while it was closed and we walked over to the Rides I thought about riding Screaming, but I was like, I dont know I dont want that to be the first ride of the day, but whoops we never did go on it! We actually went on the Sun wheel, That was a fun ride! a little creepy at first, but it was over too quick. We also went on Mulholland Madness, It was about 12 noon and our Ps was for 12 thirty, the CM at the podium told us that we probably wouldnt be seated untill 12 thirty so we hung out in the store across the way, I spent my first Disney dollars on beads and a key chain to make a tinker bell charm. It was finally time to go across the way back to Ariel's and to be seated. We decided to sit inside, which I dont really regret, although I think if you have small kids outside might be best for character intereaction, We both had the chicken noodle soup, which was good, although not my favorite, and then Adam had t he Shrimp Skampi which he said was realy good, and I had the Cheesy burger, It was so good, but 1/2 pound of meat! I didnt even eat half of it, the fries were delcious, but we were so ful we didnt get desert, just the cotton candy that comes with the check! All of the characters came over and I got pictures with them, Donald even came back twice, and the second time Adam snapped the cutest picture of us! The only person to avoid us like the plague was Mickey!! He waved at us once and that was it! I was so upset, I thought Mickey hated me
( I talked to a friend of mine who went to WDW and ate with Pooh and friends, and had the same experience with Pooh, Im betting that their instructed to go to the kids and not spend much time with the adults, but Im still a paying customer too! and I love Mickey!)So Adam snapped a pic of Mickey at another table outside
I had a blast there! We headed back out and got a fast pass for Soaring but the return time wasnt til 6:50! so we left for a little bit to take a break, and walked around DTD saw the World of Disney store, and saw Herbie at AMC, as a side note, the bathroom in there was Beautiful!!
I decided to wait til the last day to do our souvie shopping,so we came back to DCA and Did the Hollywood back lot side of DCA, although I couldnt pay Adam to go on the Tower of Terror
We saw the Animators Studio, and watched the cute show with Mushu. We went on Muppets 3D which was too cute, We missed Aladin sadly. Saw where Nemo is being built! We Walked back over to the front and saw Block Party Bash from back in the crowd that was great! after which it was about time to go back and ride Soaring, Even in the Fast Pass line it was about a half an hour or so long line. I am so glad though that we rode it, that is such a good experience, I was in awe, the only part that ruined it was the grandma of the family next to us, through the entire thing was screaming " IM SICK...IM GONNA BE SICK....I HATE YOU!!" and so on, so everyone in her family says " shut your eyes grandma and it will go away! Were not moving!" but ohh no of course she couldnt follow there directions, I tried to not let it bother me but it kinda did!
After Soaring we did the Bugs Life area, sure its for small kids but I had fun! It's tough to be a bug was great! We were hungry after that so I thought wed grab some of the "Burger Invasion" food, but DCA closed at 9 (not to be picky but I thought I read 10 on our park hours sheet) so after we road the Merry Go Round we were told that it was time to leave, so We walked past the Electrical parade, Adam got me a picture of Dumbo as we walked by! We beat the crowd leaving and ate dinner at the Mcdonalds across the street * which was much cheaper than Burger Invasion that wanted 5 bucks for a kids meal* When we got back to the hotel I was bushed again and we fell asleep quickly.Wednesday was our last day at Disney
So we hopped to Tomorow land and did Buzz's Astro Blasters first, we didnt do so hot a combined score of like 50,000 or so maybe less. but that was fun, and only a 5 minute wait! We then did Innovations which was really neat, I didnt want to spend too much time in there so the only thing we really did was we saw what we'll look like in 50 years, I was scary looking, but Adam looked exactly like his Grandpa! so that was neat. We walked over to Autotopia but the line was so long I decided wed wait *another whoops we didnt end of riding that one either..
* We decided to hop the train, and saw the Grand Canyon and Primevial world. We got off at the Toon Town stop, but first we rode its a Small World, We Jumped right on, where we had seen lines really really long! we went to Toon Town and did Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin, that was fun! After that I got my picture taken with everyone, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and then we waited in line for about 45 minutes to see Mickey, which I didnt mind, but there was THE brattiest kid behind us the entire time, " CUT IN FRONT OF THESE PEOPLE, I WANNA SEE MICKEY NOW!!" I felt bad for the parents but ugh I think If I was the parent we probably wouldnt be standing in line any more and they would have to go with out seeing Mickey
We got in to see Mickey and they took our Picture *Adam got in the pic too* I thanked Mickey and walked away, but I noticed Adam wasnt with me, he was still with Mickey! Adam was wearing his Bob Ross ( a creepily happy painter on PBS that previously I hadnt heard of) Happy Tree's shirt. Well Mickey knew who that was and loved Adams shirts, the helper Cms had no idea what was so great about it but Mickey could not stop raving over it, and pretened like he was painting!!! it was so cute! then we headed over and got inline to see Minnie at her house and again it was me and Adam and Minnie. Minnie's house was cute! We decided not to ride Gadgets Go Coaster, and headed back over to Fantasyland to finish all the Fantasyland rides, We rode Mr. Toads wild ride, Alice, the Tea cups, Storybook Canal boats, and then the Matterhorn, After that we made our way back to New Orleans and back into the Jewerly shop! We talked to a woman this time altough the man that had originally helped us was there too. She sized me and told me agian about the payment plan. I asked her what she thought the chances of us leaving and calling and the ring still being there was, she looked at me for a second and pulled the guy into the backroom. They talked for a minute, I had no idea bout what, when she came out she said not to worry about it , have a great vacation and that the ring would be put away out of site!! I started to cry I was so happy! Which then made the woman cry! so now I have my ring! In about a year or so
I need to write them a big thank you. after that I told Adam I wanted to watch Fantasmic but he refused to wait in the heat, so we road Pirates of the Carribean, wow! after that we headed back to Critter County and I got my picture taken with the Hunderd Acre Woods gang, Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger, in line there was the Cutest little girl, who wanted to see Pooh and Eeyore, but not Tigger, she was terrified of Tigger. When her family asked why she said this " Becuase Tigger Bounces too much and he might hurt himself!" how cute is that?!! We shopped in the store in Critter Country and We got some treats, Adam had a Tigger tail, I had a tail with cookie Crumbs and I got a Carmel Apple for later. I thought about riding Splash Mountain, and we looked and it had shut down due to technical difficulities I saw the line of people waiting to get on it when it reopened (and who knows how long that was going to be) and I said we'll catch this on our next trip. I wanted to see the Tiki room, but I saw there was a spot on the side walk for us to see the fire works, so I scrapped the idea of seeing the Tiki room and we waited for the fireworks! We met a nice family from Northern CA, Im not sure exactly what happend but the younger son had something bad happen to him in the bathroom with a diaper that got thrown at him??
I felt so bad for him! his brother helped him I guess. Well the kid was exhausted after that and fell asleep before the fireworks started, and was laying on the concrete, well the kid still had his eyes closed, kinda sat up and put his hand on my leg, and then he pulled himself up and plopped his head down on my lap!
I felt so bad for the kid I didnt care! his mom was like hunny wake up your on her leg! Well as time closed in on the fireworks more and more people piled in on the streetin front uf us, so our good spot really wasnt that great anymore! although we could still see at the end I was getting nervous. The fireworks were beautiful ! and I cried again at the site of Tinkerbell! After the Fireworks we went back to Frontierland and rode Thunder Mountain Railroad. We wanderd through Mainstreet and I said goodbye to Disneyland
We had the Southern CA Citypass and the next two days We spent in San Diego. The first day we spent at sea world, I was reallly excited to go to Sea World to see my favorite animal Manatees! The first thing we did was saw Shamu, and wandered through some of the exhibits. We rode a wet ride and I got soaked. We ate lunch at a cafe with Mexican food, although portions were not that big and the lunch was 35 dollars! we saw R.L. Stines Haunted Lighthouse, it was good, not my favorite but cute. All in all we saw alot of great stuff, although I was badly sunburned and it was hard to really enjoy my self. The next day we went to the San Diego Zoo, it was alot of fun, but a huge zoo, we took the bus tour and the Skyfari. Lunch at the zoo was a little cheaper, but not by much. The Pandas were adorable. It was really cool to see the hippo's as well! We used Coach USA instead of getting a rental car. It was nice to not have to worry about driving, but we really didnt like being on their schedule. We were done both days a few hours earlier than the pick up time. We were supposed to go to Knotts on the last day, but we had to be picked up in the morning and I still needed to go souvie shopping, so instead we relaxed and in the afternoon we went to DTD and looked at what we were going to eat for dinner. We did our shopping and went back to the hotel and watched movies and swam till dinner. We were told by the woman at ESPN zone that if we came back around 7 or so the place would have calmed down, of course it was Sat. night and I knew it was going to be busy, but I took her word, we arrived in DTD at 7:30 and it was still packed, at the Rainforest Cafe the wait was an hour and a half to 2 hours! so I put our names in and told Adam I wanted to see the Disneyland hotel. So we walked in and We walked by Goofy's Kitchen and I thought ohh theres no way they'll get us in, and I knew that it would be uber expensive, but Adam asked for me anyways and the woman said ..oh I can get you in now! so I said ok, and the guy rung us up and it was $72 dollars!! And to make matters worse I didnt have a camera and the characters were leaving in a half hour! so I payed 72 dollars for pizza and chicken nuggets!
I saw a table of 11 behind us, and calculated what they must have payed, it had to have been over 300 dollars! but it was fun and Im sure if I had made Ps for it it would have gone over much better. The next morning We got picked up at 10 am and were taken to LAX got checked in and went through security ate at Chili's and boarded our plane at 1 and got in to chicago at about 8 and at 8:50 we left for Minnesota! The coolest part was taking off and flying we saw so many different fireworks all across the states!
All in all it was one of the greatest vacations ever!
Our trip started on 6/27 our flight left from MSP (Minneapolis, St. Paul airport) at 6:30 am, so DFI's mom picked me up at 4:30 am and took us to the airport.
