Linking tickets purchased on a different Disney account

I've been tasked with the challenge of planning a family trip for Jan 27-Feb 2. I know for the adults that if they buy tickets on their own Disney accounts it will (should) automatically link if they're on my friends & family list but how does it work for child tickets?

I ask because we're taking my girlfriend's niece and would prefer that her parents buy the tickets. I don't mind having them pay me back if that's the most efficient way but I'm hoping you DIS'ers who are more knowledgeable in planning multi-family trips know of other options.

Do the niece's parents already have a MDE account set up and go on their own? If so buying them through their account would make sense and then any magic band she would get on this trip would work in the future as well. If not, it may just be easier for you to buy. When the account is created and linked with friends and family, it should theoretically link everyone on that account. However, I had the common issue of it only linking the head person on the other account. I had to call Disney IT to connect my friends husband and child who were all part of her account. So worst case scenario you need a phone call if they buy on their own, not a big deal either way.

No, the only Profiles that link are the ones that have specifically been “invited.” Each Profile needs an invitation - that’s why you ended up needing to call because you only invited the Manager of the account.

@Gaugersaurus - If the children are managed on another MDX account, you have to invite each child via the Manager’s MDX account using correct names and the account’s email address.

If that family doesn’t have an account, it’s easier to add the kids’ names to your own account and have the parents Venmo or PayPal you the funds for the tickets.

Thanks everyone, we all live local to each other so collecting money isn't an issue but it's good to know what the steps would be if we all wanted to buy tickets at separate times.
