Linking Reservations

I have a question on linking reservations. I have a split stay planned at AKV for June/July. I had a 4 night break in the middle where I planned on doing Universal, Sea World, Discovery Cove, or Vero. Well now I am thinking maybe I should save the stress and just stay at WDW the whole time since at that point it will only be myself and my ds (7). I don't have any more points to use for those four nights so I may look into renting since that will still be cheaper then the cash discount if available. Now my questions...

1. If I rented points from a member could I link the reservation they made to my reservation so I wouldn't have to change rooms? I can't do a transfer because I already had points transfered into my account to complete the reservation I have now. (dreaming of an add on)

2. My parents are staying with us the first week and then leaving. So if it is possible to link the reservations I couldn't like the first part of the stay without paying for dinning for the whole time for everyone is that correct?

If you rooms are booked consecutively all on points, then as long as they are for the same exact room type, they can link the ressies so you won't have to change rooms.

However, the dining plan will then need to be purchased for the entire length of stay for all occupants of the room.

Thanks for your quick reply. So if I do rent the points will the member I rent from have to link them or will I be able to link them once I get my confirmation?
