Linking Magic band and adding "friend" to my disney expereince ???

So we are going to Disney World soon. My son has previous been to Disney World with his dad and step-mom. He has a special magic band and would like to use that one on this trip. I was told by his dad that we can friend request eachother on My Disney Experience and that way his magic band can be linked to our account also. Is there any truth to this working? Also can they see any of the details of our trip by becoming friends on My Disney Experience? Would be easier to just link the magic band without becoming "friends"? I'm confused. I have my mom as a friend and I can make her fast passes with ours, I also noticed that it says she can see my plans, I'm not sure if you can change that. The IT department has been wonderful with helping me link my MagicBands in the past couple days I am sure they would know your options 407-939-3471

I also noticed it says my in-laws I have as friends too can see my plans and I don't have any plans with them.

Your son's special MagicBand is tied to his MDE and I don't think that you can move it off that account. The only way to link it so that he can use it on your trip would be to friend each other. He will be able to see details of your trip if you friend him. But I think you can reduce what he sees by marking him as a friend who can only view shared plans. If you mark him as family who can view all plans, then he will see all of your trip information even if he is not going on a particular trip with you.
