If I book a room through Orbitz (so I can stack discounts), then buy tickets separately through WDW site, I assume I can (and have to) link the two so I can book FP+ at the 60 day mark? If so, how do I link them? Have not been to DW in about 10 years so FP+ is new to me.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to setup an account at MyDisneyExperience.com and link both the room and tickets there.

You will set up a MyDisneyExperience (MDE) account HERE.
You will link your tickets to your MDE.
You will link your WDW Resort reservations to your MDE.

You will not link your tickets to your Resort reservation.

In case you haven't bought your tickets yet, you should consider looking at the ticket prices at Undercover Tourist. You can usually shave a few bucks off the price of each ticket compared to the Disney prices, and you can even get the ticket numbers emailed to you if you're close to your 60-day window for booking Fastpass+. I used UT to purchase tickets for my upcoming trip and thought they were excellent to work with.

To save a few extra dollars, subscribe to the Mousesavers newsletter. Their monthly newsletter includes a special Undercover Tourist link that gives exclusive ticket prices just to Mousesavers members. The newsletter is free and includes tons of other savings opportunities in addition to the tickets.

The OPs have done a good job on explaining how you link all of your trip elements to MDE. Once you set up your profile it's a pretty easy experience! (As someone who also booked through Orbitz - make sure you use either the 6-digit hotel confirmation code from your Orbitz confirmation or the 12-digit confirmation number from Disney Destinations into MDE. The Orbitz confirmation number, 15-digits or so, will not be recognized in MDE.)

Good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes
