We are doing a 5 night stay at the Contemporary the last week of Aug and have the dining plan. We are driving down from Jersey and taking 2 days to travel. Plan was to stay overnight in South Carolina, arrive in Orlando on travel day 2 and stay off site for the night to save some money. It would have added around $500 to stay at the CR for one extra night and we knew we had no park plans and basically just wanted to swim a little bit and just chill out. Maybe we would drive over to DTD if we were up to it. Then check out right after breakfast, drive over to CR, check in(I know room won't be ready) and head right to MK in time for rope drop or pretty darn close to it.

When pricing out off site, on a whim, I priced out 1 night room only at a value and it wound up being only a few more dollars to stay there. So we're at a fun on site place with a cute pool(I know no slide but my kids won't miss it) and if we do decide to go to DTD, we can take a bus and not worry about driving! Great! So I booked a night at Sports(I know the food court is closed but that doesn't bother us).

Now, our package at CR is through a TA. I booked with her because she does cute little extra stuff. I booked the room only at sports on my own the other night. Should I have her link the reservations? Or just keep them separate? We're also part of the test group at the CR and part of me is scared that I'm going to screw up our magic bands and FP+ if I have her link the 2 stays. TA also doesn't know I booked us at ASSports...I told her we were staying off site for a night somewhere nearby the last time we spoke because that was honestly our plans at that time.

There is no advantage to linking reservations that are at two separate resorts. Treat it as if you had chosen to book an offsite hotel. You don't need to involve the TA and surrender control of the ASSp reservation in the process.

And do yourself a favor, have a smaller bag or suitcase that you can just grab out of the car with your essentials and 1 outfit for the next day so you don't have to dig or lug or unpack since you want to be at rope drop the next morning. (you don't want to have to worry about gathering up all that stuff in the morning) We drove last year, and what a pain it was to have to dig around for stuff on the way down when we wanted to freshen up and change clothes.

The only advantage of linking reservations is if its at the same resort, and you don't want to have to switch rooms. So say you did a room only your first night at CR, then the next day you were going check in with a package, you would want it linked because it's 2 sperate res. at the same resort. We've done this. 1st night just wanted to have a room only, then next day start our package.
