kind of a weird question , but say you're party of 4, would it be bad to have 3 members lineup at one ride , the 4th run out to get FP , drink etc ? and just join the group again at anytime before the ride ?

how about 2 and 2 then ?

Not a weird question at all! Generally, I think that holding spots in line is pretty frowned upon. If you do a search on here you'll see what folks have to say. I personally don't hold spots for family unless it's because one of us has go take a kid to the bathroom, and even then we try our best to avoid doing that. But officially, Disney has no policy on such things. Use your best judgement and be considerate of others and you will be fine!

Having one person go do that while the others stand in line is not that big of a deal to some....its when someone is in line and 3 or more join that person. I was in line at TSMM and a person was in line and 12 (yes 12!) cut in front of me! I was sooo furious and so were many others. So like Dot said, use your best judgement but I would get your FP before jumping into another line.

Dot is correct. Your entire party should stick together in ride lines. If you have little kids and find yourself in a long line when the child has to use the bathroom, most around here do not have a problem with exiting the line for a bathroom break. If you can plan regular bathroom breaks and avoid having to leave lines, that would be best. FP running and grabbing snacks should be done before getting in line or after getting off the ride.

Yes, plan to wait together when you plan to ride together. The exception, as mentioned, is if someone has to leave the line to use the restroom and return. Get Fast Passes, snacks and drinks before your party gets in line.

In DL, especially in Fantasyland, the line queues are often very narrow. People who are joining their parties (for whatever reason) often make for an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved, as there just isn't enough space to be two abreast in most spots. In these lines, joining a party already in line means having to actually physically push past people in line (as opposed to metaphorical pushing past).

So there's often a physical reason (many people just don't want strangers touching them) as well as the etiquette reason why line jumping/joining your party already in line is frowned upon.

I've had to take my daughter out of a line for a "potty emergency," but we just got in the line later (as it was a MM and the line was short).

Personally I wouldn't mind if it was only one person. However if its a group of people that jumped in line, I would be pretty annoyed.

I am in the group that this is bad etiquette. Either the FP runner skips the ride or does the FP run while the rest of the group is using the restroom, getting a snack or similar.

Totally above board, it is cast member facilitated, and we have utilized this option twice a year since 2006, there are no extra costs associated, and they often throw in a 100 dollars of food vouchers. It kind of makes up for the increase in gauging that is becoming increasingly overt. It is rather pleasant being able to breeze past the 90 minute waits on a hot summer afternoon.

The key phrase would be that this is "Facilitated by Disney staff", and not a way around the system, all one need do is ask.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was just one person. However, it's also not something I would do...we get our FPs, snacks, take our potty breaks, etc. before getting in line.

I make an exception for little kids. Mine are teens now, so unexpected potty breaks aren't something we have to deal with anymore.

I am another one who thinks it is bad taste, I don't even think it is right for one person to join the group, as it just sends a bad message to everyone else who are all together waiting patiently.

You will get people to tell you it is not a big issue but maybe they just want to think that - if you do decide to do this, you will more than likely get looks from others in line, some people don't care, but the fact you are asking indicates you are trying to not bug other people in line.

Umm, what was this response all about?

I feel this is inappropriate. We were waiting for the jungle cruise and this family was trying to get to their group. First of all, that jungle cruise line is an insane maze. Well, I didn't know what was going on and they chose to smash right into me. And wake up the sleeping baby in my Ergo. It really made me upset. Unless it's an emergency, stay in line together.

I was trying to figure this out too.

As for the OP, I'm another one who finds it rude to meet up with the rest of your party, unless it's strenuous circumstances. We've only had to the "meet up" once and that was when a newly potty trained child had to go the bathroom. We asked a CM if there was a place to rejoin our party (just child and I) and they directed us to a place. Had they said there wasn't a good place, we wouldn't have gone. And we all started the line together.

Agreed! We had a bathroom emergency with DD when she was about 4. We were in line for Alice. She had the chance to go right before and refused. So when she had to go in line we gave her the choice- wait it out another 20 min or so or leave the line with mom to use the restroom. She decided it was in fact a true bathroom emergency and we left. I will not push my way back through a line for any reason. Its rude and uncomfortable for me and others around me! If its a line where I can easily meet back up with my party then we will. Otherwise, too bad for us! This also has taught my kids over the years that I mean business with our bathroom breaks and when I ask if anyone needs to go they better think long and hard about it!

We were just faced with this this past week - all on TSMM. Tuesday morning, I got in the RSR FP line and the rest of my group headed to the pier. They rode Screamin'/KTC and then got in line for TSMM. I called them when I was on the way - they were in the TSMM line. We decided that I should just sit out, rather than join them (since we're not the cutting type). In retrospect, I wish I had joined them b/c on Thursday morning, we did TSMM first, twice. Both times, groups in front of us had 3-4 people join them. If I'm not supposed to get upset when others do it, then I shouldn't feel guilty about doing it, right? It still doesn't feel right, though. I'm not sure that I could do it without feeling guilty...

This topic is always debated! In my opinion it is ok for one person or two (if an adult and child) to meet up with their group in line. That being said there are some personal rules that our family follows... We only reenter so we all must be in line to begin with or at least notify the peeps behind us of the situation, we only rejoin looooong lines and only if there is any easy entrance to do so. The example i always use is TSMM, that line can be over an hour long at any given time and about 15 min thru you get thirsty or hot and are dying for some water. If one of us can easily get out if line and buy waters for the group, then we will. The runner will then wait for us by the building part of the line and rejoin. This way no one was waitin any longer than they originally were nor were they being pushed aside by a rude person. I know i may be in the minority here, but i also try to never get frustrated by others coming through. Well, unless its a group of 15 obvious tourists rudely pushin their way thru (happened before and we were not happy).

My original post also mentioned that my family and I never wait in lines, but always go straight on the ride, was moderated in the misguided belief that I was talking about circumventing the system, when this service is given to us by guest services.

And how do you do this? The only ways I know to do this are doing the VIP tour and needing a GAC card - and even then, you don't always skip the line.

ETA: I am NOT suggesting anybody get a GAC if it isn't needed, just to be clear.

I don't mind one person, it's when 3,4,5 people cut through the line I have a problem
