Line Cutting

If you witness it, just assume it’s ok and best not to mention it to a CM. Works for me.

I suppose there could be numerous reasons they were allowed to do this, but if it was just blatant line cutting as you describe, that’s awful that you’d be threatened to be kicked out for trying to get it stopped.

reasons may include:
Das return time
Fp for ride recovery
Meeting up with friends already in the line
Tour
Etc.

hopefully it was one of these or something similar. Annoying the CMs would dismiss you like this, but sounds like a typical response right now, unfortunately.

If a CM didn't personally witness it, they're not going to do anything about it. How can they? it's your word against the line cutters'. And CM's can't be everywhere and watch everything at all times.

I'm there a lot and I've just come to accept it as part of the experience. It's mostly families where one person waits while everyone else comes in when it's close. It was annoying when they had all the covid rules because if you took a sip in line, someone came over the pa to tell you to wear a mask but a family of five would push past everyone in the line and get inches away and/or bump into you.

Agreed, but there's no need for the CM's to threaten to kick the OP out if he raises too much of a fuss about it. That's ridiculous.

Definitely one of my pet peeves. The only two times I have seen near fights at Walt Disney World both had to do with line cutting. The worst was on the ramp section leading in to Rock'n'Roller Coaster.

When we were there last week it was blatant line cutting. Like guests standing near the line…then when they think there’s a gap or someone’s not paying attention they jump in. Called a guy out on space mountain…guess he thought I wasn’t paying attention. Told him line starts back there. He acted like he didn’t know (you’d have to be an idiot to not know) . Everyone behind me saw what he was trying to do and thanked me. Saw conflicts at RNR, MMRR, Test Track, Splash mountain and TOT. Not sure the deal because it was either ahead or back of us but guests weren’t playing the cut game and the my families up there when there were 3 or 4 people trying to get up to 1 person.

I was taught as a child that this kind of behavior is not good manners, that your group doesn't enter the queue until everyone is together. I saw a lot of it happening at Universal in June, even kids running up to get ahead of everyone, then parents pushing through saying they had to catch up to their kids. Um no, your kids need to be back with you. I don't understand how people don't see this as rude, or perhaps everything is just a free-for-all now? I'm steeling myself for some very poor behavior in a week.

I watched blatant line cutting twice waiting at the cross way in Pandora this week. Two different families waited for the CMs back to be turned or talking with someone and slipped into line right there. Each time I heard someone from the family say “wanna get in line?” Since the CM didn’t see it I didn’t report it. Seems like tighter control is needed there. Weren’t one or two people, but large families (5+) each time.

Having had little kids I’ll give families a pass who need to get someone to a toilet, but entire groups edging in is frustrating.

Before I knew better, I made the mistake years ago of pointing out to a couple of CMs a family of 3 collecting rider swap passes and almost immediately rejoining line within eye view of us/CMs. They were younger CMs, not only did they not care, they scolded us in a raised tone for not minding our own business.

Yep, this happened to us way back in October and January, before the large crowds, on the same rides you mention (along with FOP). We’d do the exact same, loudly say, “Excuse me, you probably didn’t know, but the line starts back there.” Generally others in the line would also loudly agree and point, which tended to attract a CM if the people didn’t immediately make a move to the end of the line. I was high-fived a few times for being obnoxious about it. Unfortunately, when you try to be polite, you run the chance of the line-cutters completely ignoring you or bullying you into dropping it, and then it’s maddeningly not worth it.

I like that, point them out while giving them the benefit they “didn’t know” where the line began.

I know a lot do it on purpose, but some do it on accident, usually by just not paying attention because there’s so many distractions around.

At least we're not in Shanghai, where as a solo traveler, I'd put my arm out to grab a rail to prevent line cutting, and sometimes get someone slamming their fist down on your arm so they can still get by.

I have seen it said or said myself to people "oh the line starts back there" if they try to jump in or look like they can't tell. I recognize most are usually just unaware or in the "Disney moment". Unfortunately for some people it's their touring style to cut & line jump cause they don't care.

The part of Covid protocol I enjoyed the most was at a certain point your whole party had to be in line. Usually it was at the main entrance to the ride & CMs were there standing there stating that. Don't get in line if everyone isn't ready or don't ride together if someone won't wait. I understand needing a bathroom break for long lines, but when a whole group (more than a child or child/parent) comes pushing thru the line it's ridiculous. I notice in recent visits this is starting to happen frequently again.

We had a family who stepped in front of us in the Navi line who clearly were confused about where they were supposed to be - especially since they thought they were in line for FoP. We told them they were in line for Navi, then they realized they had cut the line since we were behind them. I told them not to worry about it. It is hard to know when you’re a newbie and things are far from normal and there aren’t many CMs around to help direct people.

Kind of related to this topic... TSM is my fav., and I get sort of competitive (w/ myself) for scoring, I aim for a personal best ea. time. In 2015, when TSM was still one of the most popular attractions at HS, I had gun that would spray far left/right, not function correctly and reported it to a CM once we were off. Because CMs typically let you back on another vehicle, I was surprised that this one blatantly accused me of repeatedly trying to jump the line. "You just reported a malfunctioning gun earlier, you're just trying to take advantage of our policy."

I replied... "no, you're confusing me with someone else (I'm Asian), this is my first time on today." CM replied "You just need to leave before you're never allowed back on this ride again!"

I did leave, but I was peeved enough that I considered reporting this CM for generalizing/mistaking me for someone else, and treating me that way. Everyone around us could hear him scolding us, momentarily embarrassing us.
