Line Cutting

At least we're not in Shanghai, where as a solo traveler, I'd put my arm out to grab a rail to prevent line cutting, and sometimes get someone slamming their fist down on your arm so they can still get by.
I always love telling people about "lines" in China. They always think I'm being hyperbolic. China, never change.

The part of Covid protocol I enjoyed the most was at a certain point your whole party had to be in line. Usually it was at the main entrance to the ride & CMs were there standing there stating that. Don't get in line if everyone isn't ready or don't ride together if someone won't wait. I understand needing a bathroom break for long lines, but when a whole group (more than a child or child/parent) comes pushing thru the line it's ridiculous. I notice in recent visits this is starting to happen frequently again.
That's funny, people were still doing the catch up to my party bit the three times we were there during this. There's some that either don't care or don't think the rules apply to them.

The covid rules drove me a little insane, we were fine following them but the people that didn't made it that more intolerable.

Right. If you haven't experienced it or known about it, it can be shocking. As an American with less of a tolerance for some of the antics, I confronted a few of them (in English of course). I once made the mistake of venturing out in front of the castle for the finishing fireworks show. Trapped in a mob of people, a women kept shoving me from behind, when I had no where to go. She proceeded to take off her backpack and repeatedly slammed it into my back. I still think it's funny that I turned, ripped the bag from her hands, and flung it about 40 feet away. Good luck getting through to your bag, lady.

I don't care if one or two people are going ahead to catch up with someone. Most of the time they are using the bathroom. I've never not let someone go ahead, cause it doesn't really affect me. When I was there, 1 person was passing up people, and someone was like " are you cutting the line " I was more irritated by the person who asked that cause it was obvious he was trying to get back to his family. He wasn't cutting in by himself for fun.

I've never been in a situation where I have seen a group of 4-5 people trying to go ahead in the line though

I see it happen too. The absolute worst was at HS rope drop for the Millennium Falcon. The CMs literally had the line go around trash cans, through toy story land etc. The line was incredibly long. When we finally got close to where the ride line would start a young couple came and acted like they were looing at the scenery and then just got into the line. A CM did see them. I didn't say anything not wanting to get into a confrontation. I did give them a look and will never forget them.

Another couple at the pirates one year looked like they were trying to pass my family. I struck up a conversation with them so then how could they pass me.

I was in Beijing so IDK if the subway in Shanghai is the same, I'm assuming it was. I embraced it myself and pushed right along with the Chinese. It did grind on me though.

My first train ride going downtown Shanghai, I barely had enough room to enter the door with my suitcase, you could barely see empty spots of the floor it was so crammed. My back was to the door, and in comes a group of a few college age kids, without a word, one of them lowered his shoulder into me and kept shoving hard until there was room for them to get on - forcing me into the people around me. At the time, I was thinking that if that happened in the U.S., someone might have been shot.

Oh so it's exactly like Beijing. LOL good times.

My in-laws come with the 2 of us every other year to WDW as a group of 4. Even if she sees it often, and 3 of us are already in line line a few groups ahead of her, my gentle sloth like moving, mother in law will refuse to save spots in line, as "cutting." And we have to all go back and meet her in the back of the line. My father in law is the stark opposite where I had to keep harping on him because if he sees a gap in a line that's outside, and he thinks people are moving too slowly, he will cut in front of them. Millennium Falcon, when it was brand new and the line was wrapping around outside to Toy Story Land, he's cutting every other group in a neon jacket until we get to the inside queue. Our next trip with them is next Sept! Just to warn you guys:).

The outdoor / extended queues have to make this worse, right? It's much easier to step into a sprawling line out in the open than to push forward within an actual structured queue. I know at one point last week we accidentally left a 10-foot gap in the massively extended Kiliminjaro Safaris queue, and had to tell some folks "the line starts back there" -- but in that case it was our fault for leaving the space while dealing with a crying child / melting popsicle.

I've got two little kiddos, so it is fairly common for my wife to get in line with the little ones while I park the stroller, then join up. But that's when they are still in the extended queue, and at worst I have to step over/under a rope, not push past people.

Generally, I give people the benefit of the doubt, don't mind family members catching up with other family members. But if I see that it is blatant me first line cutting, then I loudly remind them that there is a line.

Wondering what happened to my post recalling a line cutting experience that I posted yesterday? (I think it was yesterday, I'm getting older so the memory is not so good?, LOL)
