Line cutting at DL?

This has happened at DL and at WDW.

I agree with this..WDW is not immune from line cutters...

I think I am too much in my own lil' world to worry about line cutters. It happens everywhere. I refuse to let it get to me.

No its not normal but it does happen. As a former CM and for the fact that there are others who waited patiently in line, I usually speak up about it and tell them to move to the back of the line. Other times I tell the CM about it and sometimes they do something about it.

I was in line for CA Screaming, and there were a few guys behind us. We wound around to the exit door is, and over the wall come about 5 other guys to meet up with the 2 that were already standing there. It went from 2 guys to 7. I speak up and say something, HEY THESE GUYS ARE CUTTING IN LINE..... the CM asks them they say "nooo nooo" she believes them or feels she can't do much. Then she says "well if they are meeting up with their party I can't do anything" Ok, I could buy a mom meeting up wlith her husband and kid maybe. Is that allowed??? Just made me mad.

That's the kind of thing I see too. Big groups meeting with people in line. For us they usually want to push past us, in an already not very wide line to begin with. Making you smashed up against the ropes so they can get through. Gotta say, any time someone does that it annoys me, big group, or just two people.

We've always entertained our son and kept him busy in line so that we wouldn't have to do that. I understand some kids just don't do well in lines, but that's pretty much what your going to find all over DL, lines! Not to mention it's good for them to learn early, because life has lots of lines too! And with how long some of the lines are, I can't imagine having to push my way through every line to get to DH so I could bring my son to the front of the line. I've seen some great tips here on entertaining kids in line. So while I understand a parent and child having to push through (especially if it was a bathroom break type thing), more then I do 5 guys, I tend to think trying to keep kids entertained in lines is part of being there. Imagine if everyone with little kids wanted to wait outside the line until the last minute! Yikes! JMHO

I haven't ever experienced line cutting, but saving spots sometimes bugs me.

Mostly when it's more than a couple people.

I found that in the food lines. There would only be 2 people in front of you then... WHAM there's ten people all ordering separately because a family member was waiting in line for them.

Drove me nuts.

We saw it a few times, most people pushing through to meet up with others in their party, I made them point out who they were meeting before letting them through. Amazing the number that couldn't and turned around and went back. Saw some younger kids sneaking under barriers to jump ahead in the queue, if I saw them I pointed it out to everyone around them, most went back some went bright red and took off. I dont have a problem with people minding postions in lines for Toilet stops, young kids etc, we did this on occassions but we made sure that if we reached a point in the queue where those coming later were going to have push past others we stopped at the point until they came.

I agree with this, actually I rarely notice line cutters, I've encountered line/spot holders before but I don't really care because I'm going to get on the ride soon anyway, and I usually use fastpass so I dont' usually wait that long in lines anyway.

The only time it bothered me was waiting for the Aladdin musical at DCA and dh and I were first in line for the mezzanine seating and the let us up the stairs and a party started ducking under the ropes to race up the stairs, we still made it to the top first but they cut in front of ALOT of people and when the cm's opened the doors for us the party shoved past us (hurt me) and took the entire front row center seats. I was pretty ticked off, but still got great seats so I didn't complain too loudly, but maybe I should have for the sake of the people behind us that they cut in front of.

HAHAHA... this is sooo funny! While we were waiting for Aladdin Musical DCA I noticed there were 2 moms and their 4 kids (ages from 5-10)much further back then where we were. And because I am pretty observant.. I noticed that one of kids would make there way up the line by about 10 feet, then the rest of their group would sneak up, one by one. And as I watched this, it wasn't before long they were sneaking up past me. By the time the doors opened, they were doing this type of cutting all the way to the front. I remember thinking to myself.. man, these moms are totally teaching their kids the value of cheating, cutting, and being sneaky. So I told my husband what was happening.. and we did the funniest thing. We boxed one of the moms and her kids in.. so even though the other mom was way ahead, the one mom was stuck in between my husbands shoulder, the wall, and me.. kind of like a triangle. It was kind of funny to me.. because she knew, that we knew, what they were up to and that we weren't going to let her cheat. Eventually she did get past us at the top of the stairs.. but what was hilarious was the fact that although they had a good strategy to get to the front of the line,.. they had an awful strategy of how to save seats once up in the seating area. Because they were forced to split up.. by the time they were all inside, they were scattered, unable to find each other.. and by that time, unable to find so many seats together. Meantime, DH, and my kids (whom we were carrying during this whole thing) just went up to the rail seats, in the center. As we turned around,.. we could see the other group frustrated because they couldn't find seats, each other, and that we got awesome seats and they were like 10 rows back. It was Holy Justice!

Anyways.. thanks for bringing this up.. it was fun to remember this. So funny.. some people who will do anything to get ahead, sometimes don't get ahead at all.

I just want to comment on holding a spot for a child. we have a 5 year old who doesn't have the patience to wait for a ride like DUMBO for over 45 minutes. It is not uncommon at all for my wife and I to split up and have one of us wait in a line like DUMBO while the other one goes on something with a shorter line like tea cups or the carousel. Honestly, I do not view it as cutting when a parent is saving a spot for a child on a ride that most parents wouldn't ride without their child anyway.

I do understand the frustration of people in the back when spot saving occurs but I know with kids that it is sometimes a necessity for the sanity of all involved.

Personally I would much rather you had the kid elsewhere for most of the wait than spend 45 minutes in line next to an antsy five year old. If the little one can't manage a long wait, nobody benefits from making them sit there. Your solution is best for everyone involved and totally sensible. :)

I would as well..I don't mind line saving (especially for a child) ..I don't even put it in the same catagory as line cutting..

When that happends I usually says something to my 7 year old (loudly I might add) about how rude it is when people cut in front of us in line and how glad I am she is patient enough to wait her turn. It has actually made people back off before because then they look stupid that they aren't as patient as a 7 year old.
I agree, I don't mind at all if part of a family waits in line, then lets a couple other family members in line, especially with small children. But when a group of kids (or even grown-ups) pushes to get in front of others, or the whole group cuts to the front of the line, that's not right.

I also complimented my children LOUDLY on their good behavior in the park. When we were at Tarzan's treehouse, anytime my DS6 stepped toward something that caught his eye, this pushy bigger kid would step in front of him and grab it first, and keep playing with it until DS found something else to look at. After the 3rd time, I told DS6 loudly that I was proud he was being so patient and not being pushy and rude like some other children. The bigger kid took the hint and left us alone after that. :sad2:

Actual cutting really bothers me, but we never let anyone get past us anyways, it's just irritating that people try. Saving spots in line doesn't bother me though.

My wife and I were there last week for 4 days and did not see much line jumping. We used fast passes as much as possible. I still cannot figure out why more people do not use these.
