Line cutting and line saving

I saw a lot more of line saving and line cutting at Universal than I usually see at Disney. I was a bit surprised.

I was in the single rider line at Forbidden Journey. One day a couple snuck over to the Express lane when the person working the line wasn't looking and got right on. The next day, the same thing happened.

There were also multiple times (including in the single rider lines!) where one person got in line and the other 4 in their party pushed past people in line to get to where their friend was.

Does this happen fairly often?

I'm guessing it happens no more or no less than it does at any other park.

I was part of an interesting discussion on one of the Disney threads about line saving.

I think it's wrong and shouldn't be done at all.

Some people are okay with it. Like, if grandad can't keep the pace of the group it's okay with the rest if the group getting in line then having grandad work his way through the line till he meets the group. I say wait till your group is together to get on the line.

Anyway, what you or I or anyone feels about it doesn't matter much in the end. It's up to Universal, or Disney or whoever to state a policy. More importantly, it's up to the company to strictly enforce the policy.

As much as people cutting in line might irritate me, I'm not going to say anything. The way some people are these days, a mild verbal chastisement might lead to a video of me getting whacked over the head with an umbrella showing up on YouTube.

Express on FJ ? There is no express on Forbidden Journey..There is a single rider though..In any event, people hopping into express usually doesn't work, but sometimes it does.Simply because these people fail to realize that express passes get scanned/checked 2x.Once at the entrance and another time further into the queue.I have seen TMs catch people and send them to the back o the line.As for saving spots ,It happens. Not a fan of it but it happens just about every themepark/amusement park I have been to.

There is space for express to be an option I think, but I don't think they'll ever use it.

There is express at Forbidden Journey. Yesterday we were on Despicable Me when the ride stopped. They could not get the ride to start in a reasonable amount of time so they gave us "special" express passes that were good at Forbidden Journey (but not Gringotts) along with most other rides. It was strange to take an elevator and be taken straight to the front of the line, but we got those passes fair a square and were determined to use them :)

Ok, then it must have been the regular lane, not express. Either way, it was the last stretch before getting directly on the line.

I would agree, except this is our first vacation to just Universal. We have done Disney for 20 years. I have never seen it quite this bad over there. One person in the party pushing through, maybe, but not in the single rider line. This was multiple people and even in the single rider line.

That was a break down pass and it will list what attractions you can use it on. This does not mean FJ has express.

Depending on which ride breaks down when you are issued a pass will determine which rides you can use it on.

We have had these passes many times and a few have had Gringotts too.

While FJ may not currently run an Express Line, I think what some people are trying to say is that the ride was built with the notion that at some point in the future, they'll open an Express line. The area for the extra queue is in place, it's just isn't being used yet as such.

I don't think I've experienced a difference in line cutting at the parks. We did a split stay in September and I think at each place we had a couple of occasions where a group was meeting up with the rest of their party.

Correct, all new rides get a extra express line built and down the road it will be used. Just right now crowds still dictate no express for Harry Potter.

we enjoy visiting different parks both in Orlando and elsewhere. It's rare imo other than the random parent holding down a spot for rest of family (bathroom/snack run sort of thing).

jmho if you witness it and don't say anything you 'own' it. Wouldn't get in an altercation but sure wouldn't hesitate to comment on obvious line-jumping by a horde of kids to a TM and let them sort it out.

Oh please. If someone does something wrong, THEY are at fault. I don't own anything by not confronting them.

There were about 4 instances of this and I said something twice. It got me nowhere, they didn't care. I stopped because it wasn't worth the stress of having to have them smirk at me and continue with whatever they wanted to do.

On Soarin at EPCOT a group of 6 wanted to cut to catch up to a group of about 10 and the Dad asked the couple behind us (after filing past others) if they minded them catching up to their friends. The lady said 'sorry but I do mind', and the children in the group of 6 asked why they couldn't get past. The Dad explained that 'the lady was mean', then proceeded to shout ahead to the other party for them to wait, which they did on a corner.

you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I didn't see you state in original post that you commented on the line jumping to the jumpees.

I do feel if you don't bring this sort of line jumping to a TMs attention, then you are complacently accepting the situation

BTW the worst line jumping attempts I've experienced has been at splash mountain, usually when dusk or later. There is usually such an outcry of those weaving their way thru the snaking lines that the CMs 'catch on' and send them packing.

in most parks line jumping is a fast-pass ticket out of the park. not sure how they roll/enforce in Orlando.

There was no person around to report to! By the time I did see a worker those people were long gone or it was way too late to deal with it .

The odd part of this one is that these were in single rider lines. These were not lines were people were all waiting together to get on the ride.
