Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Hey - I have read tennis is a great workout! (I wouldn't know, mind you - anything involving hitting a ball is beyond my physical capabilities - but I read a lot!!) Plus you got to spend some time with DH while you did it - that sounds like a great week to me!

Don't worry - as the temps start to cool down, you'll get more runs in (and I bet you get faster, too). Keep going - I'm enjoying reading about your training! Hope you have a great weekend.

Susan

Thanks Susan! This summer has been a big change in the time DH and I have together now that our oldest DD drives- there's good and bad in that!

Today I was setting up my training plan for the Applefest 1/2 on Oct 4th.A friend who is also doing it told me to put in my mile time and go by that because my regular time for a previous 1/2 put me way too slow.I know it is to prevent injury but when I tell you I can walk faster I am not fooling.

So this a.m. I did a mile only to time myself- I never did that before, since I progessed I mean.I did a mile in 7:44.So my 1/2 training times made more sense for me.

Going for a walk later with a friend and then out on my bike.

Talk to everyone soon,

Linda

HI Linda! Just checking in to see how things were going.

Are you getting excited for Applefest! There will some nice WISHers there!

Just back from Ogunquit Beach and man I wish I had brought my running stuff.Walked right out to the water every a.m. as everyone was running down the beach-I was bummed.

September 20th the Lobster Dash takes place on the beach there. That sounds cool.A 5 mile run on the beach.

This morning I did my 3.1 mile route here-no beach,in 30:01 a 9:40 pace.I will take it since the diet is in the pits and today I start "training" for the half.

My DH has lost 10 lbs so far in 2 weeks on the Atkins. It works very well for him for a jump start to feel better then proceed with better eating.

Hope everyone is doing well,
Linda

Today did 6 miles in 64:04, a 10:40 pace.

As for DH 12 lbs. Way to go!

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Linda

Today rode my bike for 10 miles in 45:18, 13 mph.Applefest will be here soon.Time to get cracking.Did some abs today too and the "diet" is going well.

Linda

This a.m. 6 miles in 57:58, a 9:39 pace.My best yet.It is beautiful outside.Looks like fall is coming already.

Linda

Hey Linda. yay for your improved pace! :thumbsup2 and  for DH's lb loss! That's great.

I know Applefest will be fun! You'll have to say Hello to Scott and Amy and Lisa for me.

I wish fall was here for us...but it's still in the 90s! At the end of my run last night it was finally starting to cool down...at 10:15 pm! :upsidedow

Linda, Just wanted to stop by and say Thank you for all of the encouraging words! Your determination and love for running is really inspiring! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Last night I bought some new Asic gels.Recurring shin splints made me look at my left shoe and to my surprise I did have alot of wear on my left heel.

Taking today off to rest.Soccer tryouts and scrimmages today anyway.

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Looks like your running is going great. Smart move to get a new pair of shoes. Do you keep track of your mileage on the shoes? I retire mine when they get in the 450-500 mile range. My knees and my shins start to let me know when it is time for a new pair.

6 miles in 63:43,a 10:37 pace.Took it slower on purpose and actually enjoyed the pace today.Focused less on the watch and more on my surroundings. It was a peaceful run.

First day of school today! My baby is a freshman!

Have a great one everyone.

Linda

Today I did the elliptical x45 mins.3.01 miles and burned 422 cals.I also walked with a friend and went about 5 miles or so.

Ibuprofen is my best friend.I have been using it on and off for a while and it makes a huge difference. But I wish the pain would just go away and not just be masked by the med.

Where is everyone these days????????????

Linda

Just did 7.8 miles, thought it was 8 miles until I went out with the car and measured it.I could have done the 8, I felt good but stopped when I thought I was done.I did it in1:20:58,a 10:22 pace.I'll take it!

Hope everyone is going to post more soon,it is lonely around here!

Linda

Hi Linda,

How are your shins? Good job on the running. Slowing down and going further feels good doesn't it.
