Limo pickup at MCO: Driver can't meet in baggage area due to construction

Greetings,

I just received an email confirmation regarding our limo transportation from MCO to an area hotel. It said that the driver could not meet us in baggage claim area due to terminal construction. I will have to call once we have our luggage. On the phone, the agent said the driver would meet us in the baggage claim area. Our pickup date/time is mid March, early evening.

Ok, my question is, which is the truth? The reason I ask is that others have posted about limo transportation and whatever company they used did indeed meet them in baggage claim. This was suppose to be a surprise but if I have to call the company/driver upon retrieving our bags, there goes the surprise.

I can't imagine that happening. I suppose that 'stuff' happens. But how the heck do they know now how 'construction' is going to impact them in March??? I have had drivers tell me that they will meet me in baggage claim but then have us walk, with them, over to the parking area for towncars, rather than get in the car right outside the terminal.
I can't imagine why the driver can't park his car, walk over to baggage claim and then take you and your bags out to the curb and go and get his/her car and drive back to you. A pain for the driver but that's his/her issue, not yours.

I'm not sure what the practice is in Orlando but usually limo drivers park their vehicles in a special lot close to baggage claim. I would imagine they have to have some kind of permit for that. I wonder if this company does not have that permit and they park somewhere else and wait for your call.

I would call them a couple of weeks before your trip and verify the procedure.

My understanding is "meet and greet" requires the driver leave his car in the commercial lane. The driver pays an extra fee.

I suspect a company is trying to save the cost of a meet and greet. Just tell the company you want a meet and greet. You shouldn't have a problem finding a company that will supply that service.

You didn't mention the company or the cost. Market rate for R/T transportation from MCO to Disney area resorts is $110-$125. You might save a few dollars if you book directly with a driver but otherwise a lower rate might suggest a company trying to cut expenses i.e. talk you out of a meet and greet.

My cost is $105 each way, not inclusive of the tip.

Anyone who has flown into MCO on Southwest, is there terminal construction right now that stop a drive from doing the meet and greet? If it is an expense thing, I wish they would just tell me.
