Limitied number of cruises available on points?

I did not get a chance to call today but I hope to tomorrow. When I booked in Dec the DVC cruise specialist said that I could make the change. I told her we were not able to do this back in '06 with our cruise. She said it was a very recent change that now allows for it. From what everyone has said, it sounds like she may have been wrong. I will call to find out for sure.

I was on the phone with them yesterday and didn't even ask! Let me know if you get a different answer.

The problem is sometimes you won't know the point amount that far ahead. It all depends on when Disney releases the points chart for the cruises. I don't know if they will let you book before the points charts are released.

I booked a cruise with points before the points chart was released, they just note your account and hold the room. Then when the points chart is released you either confirm the reservation or cancel without penalty (if the points are higher than you expected). I'm not sure how much time you have, but I expected them to call me when the points chart became available and instead I found out through here and called them so I have no idea how long the chart was out.

Have you considered renting your points and then using that cash to pay for the cruise? I paid cash for my DW and DD to go on a three night cruise. The cruise cost around $1600 and the rent value for points it would have taken was around $2300..just food for thought.
