Limited choices on dining plan?

This may seem like a silly question, but is the entire menu available if you are using the DDP? I know I should know the answer to this question as a complete Disney "know-it-all" ;) but I can't remember. If I recall correctly, they don't know if you are using the DDP until you are going to pay. But I never really paid much attention to all of this before since I wasn't the one making the decisions... My parents were. :lmao: So now, I'm in planning OCD mode and want to make sure all the menu choices will be available to us on the DDP. :)

Thanks for the help!!

Yep, you can order whatever you want off of the normal menu. Note that there are a very few cases where an extra charge may be incurred (I think only the feasts at Marrakesh), but those are very very very few and far between.

When you first sit down, the server should ask if you are on a dining plan. If you are, they'll ask for your KTTW card and then explain it (yes, this gets tiring around the 5th meal of a 8 night DxDDP trip ><).

The only thing that I know of is at Beaches and Cream you cannot order the Kitchen Sink dessert on the DDP.

At Via Napoli you can order the pizzas, but they are very specific that it is 1 adult credit for the individual, 2 adult credits for the large and 4 adult credits for the half meter. If you have fewer than 4 adults in your group, this last one won't work.

As far as beverages, many of the Disney owned restaurants are generous in their offerings. Some places will allow milk shakes, smoothies and virgin cocktails. You'll have to ask at each place. Drinks in souvenir glasses are not included.

At the non-Disney owned restaurants, they are much more strict with the beverage policy because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the limitations of the dining plan. You are far more likely to be limited to fountain drinks - soda, coffee, tea, lemonade, etc. Upscale non-alcoholic beverages (e.g. those costing more than fountain drinks) are rarely allowed.

If there is a chefs selection, you are also allowed to order it on the DDP. It includes an appetizer, but the entree is usually a lower priced one than other entrees on the menu. They don't do any substitutions if you order the chef's selection.

I haven't ever ordered one as I like steak and I don't like all the fancy sauces, etc on it.

The only "limit" is that children age 3-9 are limited to ordering from the children's menu (except at a few CS that do not have a children's menu.)

Otherwise there are so few exceptions that they've pretty much already been covered.

There are also items that are not allowed as a snack credit (in general, items costing more than $5, items considered multiple servings, some side dishes at CS restaurants, make your own treats at Goofy's Candy, that kind of thing)

Thanks everyone! I just couldn't remember and it was driving me crazy! lol.

I'm busy crunching numbers to see if it will be beneficial for us or not. :thumbsup2
