Limited availability in November?

is this typical? I'm having a hard time finding a single resort to cover 8-10 days. I've never had this problem before...is there something going on in early November?? Granted, I have a party of 5, so we don't fit everywhere.

I'm no where near an expert on WDW, but from what I have been reading it could be
- free dining
- a race or something to that affect going on
- Epcot food and wine (cannot remember the exact name)
I may be way off...sorry not much help

Jersey Week.
Wine & Dine Half Weekend is November 2-5.
End of Food & Wine November 13.
Diamond 9s the weekend of 11/7.
A Special Olympics event the weekend of 11/10.
Several conferences.

Creates some pretty strong demand. So even if you're arriving after Jersey Week, the overlap to the end of F&W may be rough.

I believe there are multiple reasons for this but what dates are you looking at?

I know we booked our vacation in March as WL was already sold out of most ( I believe half the old hotel is now going to be villas ( correct me if I am wrong but a whole wing we being remodeled). We ended up booking AKL. Food and Wine ends on the 13th. I believe jersey week is the 4-11 ( veterans day is that Friday as well). We looked for 11-18 and many were sold out good thing we wanted AKL or WL- at least we got AKL. The week of the 18-25 is Thanksgiving week which has free dining available this year so I highly doubt there are any rooms available that week at this point. 1/2 Marathon is Nov 5 so the few days leading up to that could make it busy. Also, 2 of the Moderate resorts are going under major refurbishment which is taking a large number of rooms away from them CBR and CSR are probably at full capacity as they don't have nearly the amount of rooms they usually do. This added with the free dining fiasco of 2017 you have many people scrambling to book up all the value resorts and pay the upcharge to table service so those rooms are also filling quickly. That means the only rooms left to book were/are the Deluxe resorts- if people are dead set on Disney and that they are staying on property they are going to be staying at the Deluxe resorts at this point, as most moderates and values are booked due to discounts, events, and limited rooms available for rent.

I would try splitting up the dates of your stay (try 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 nights followed by whatever you need to make up the rest of your trip). For example, if your dates are Nov. 1 - Nov. 11, try plugging in Nov 1 - 4 and then Nov. 4 - 11 or Nov. 1 - 5 and then Nov. 5 - Nov. 11 and so on. Depending on how they've placed rooms in inventory, in order to cover all of your days, you may need to do a split stay. If you can split up the stay and find the same resort/room category for both reservations, you may not have to move rooms, but it's quite possible, you may have to consider a split stay in two different resorts or room categories in order to cover all of your dates. You may also want to see if Swan/Dolphin has any availability.
