Limit on wait lists question

In trying to figure out the best way to make bookings, I've been looking at a lot of forums and DVC-fan websites. I've learned a lot, but I think some of the information I find is old and I'm not sure what's still valid or possible.

I've read that some people would waitlist a resort in one-day increments rather than for the entire langth of their planned trip. That way they could have a better chance of getting some of the days they wanted (or even all of them). Did the 2 wait list maximum do away with that?

You can still wait list 1 day but only 2 of the days. I don't believe you can waitlist 2 days in a row though with the new policy.

There is still a 2 wait list limit. And, they will not allow consecutive days as a wait list.

But, you can certainly WL the first few days vs. the entire week to increase your chances to get what you want.

Of course, with this strategy, you could end up with a split stay. You want to be sure that this is okay as the first nights might come available and when you WL the last nights, those might not.

We love split stays so for us, no big deal but for others, it is.

Good luck!

I just cleared the wait list on December 12th through the 17th. I thought you could have 2 wait list trips, not just 2 days wait listed.

You can have up to 2 active wait lists at one time. You are correct that those wait lists can be for more than one night.

The only piece I don't think they allow is someone to wait list individual days that are consecutive. For example, I don't think you can put in a wait list for day 1 and then a separate one for day 2.

I spoke to CM about this today. However, I am sure she did not give me the correct information. She told me I could WL separately for 2 consecutive days at the same resort. She also told me I could only have 2 WLs per year. I dont think either of these is correct so I will call again tomorrow.

The way I read the rule, I think it said up to two active waitlists for any one use year. The way I read that is you can have two WLs for your 2010 UY and 2 WLs for 2011 UY at the same time. If one is successful, you have the right to get on another WL for that UY since the other is no longer active.

Thats the way I understand the rule...........

That is interesting about the consecutive nights. I do know that you are allowed only 2 active WL per UY so that piece is correct. Last summer, I wanted to WL all the view at BLT and could not because of the limit so I was forced to call daily to check availability on the other view.

I have two consecutive days on the waitlist?

We are going for six days and are staying at four places:lmao:. I have two consecutive days on the waitlist. So we can just stay at just two places. Don't think it will come through considering its August 1st - August 6th.

They didn't say I couldn't do that.

I have two waitlists for 09 use year and one waitlist for 10 use year.

I'm thinking if the consecutive days are at different resorts or different views, then that's ok. What may be prohibited is different waitlists on two consecutive days for the same resort AND view.
