At the media conference:

Eisner was talking about the exploitation of franchises and used Lilo as an example. He said they were making a Lilo sequel, TV show, and even a "theme park attraction". Should we assume he was referring to the Stitch make-over of AE that has been rumored or could it be something else?

Later when talking about Pixar he said they owned full rights to all six Pixar films and are quick to promote synergy. He used as a possible example the converting the Living Seas to Nemo's Sea.

You know, if they did it right, it could be OK, but I hate to see the living seas go nemo, really. I am not sure that epcot should be cartoonized like that. The whole thing about future world doesn't really seem to fit with animated characters to me, really. I guess tomorrowland is getting cartoonized as well, if they had buzz and stitch there. But then again, if it would get some budget to the living seas to fix that place up I guess I could live with it because they really need to put some money in to there. In California they are talking about a Nemo overlay to the sub ride. That could be really cool, or it could be really lame, depending on how they pull it off, but they should do something quick. Right now in tomorrowland they have star tours, honey I shrunk the audience, and their innoventions (where carousel of progress used to be) open. Oh, and the monorail station and autopia.

Larworth, do you have a link to the transcripts, or something similar?

On L&S, I'm guessing he is thinking of the Stitch overlay of AE. I haven't seen any other rumors...

On The Living Seas, if I remember correctly, part of Jim Hill's rumor about Project Gemini involved a Little Mermaid makeover. So it makes sense that a $70 million opening weekend brings Nemo to the table.

We do have a Toy Story attraction and several Bug attractions, along with rumors that a Monsters attraction is being considered. So given the history and Nemo's success, I'm sure lots of plans are being drawn up to use Nemo in an effort to get a project approved.

I think that has been canned....according to screamscape..they wanted it up and running fairly cheap 5-10 million...but after the looked at it seemed it was going to cost 35million.

Matt, no copy of the transcript just listened to the webcast.

I think a lot of all this activity around Pixar-related theme park projects is their attempt to show Pixar why it makes sense to stay with them.

Interesting sidebar. Eisner did a little retrospective on the ABC purchase. Said at the time they really needed to make a business transformation and characterized the ABC purchase as a Home Run. They picked ABC over NBC to get ESPN and the other cable properties. They knew ABC's major program content (at that time) had pretty much run it's course and would need to be replaced. He cited Millionare as a good thing, but than he said the bad part was they DID over expose it. First time I have heard them officially admit as such.

He's been full of great quotes latley such as...

"What Pixar has that we don't have is John Lasseter," Eisner said.

He was a former Disney animator.

Asked about owning sports franchises, Eisner repeated his stance that corporations don't make good owners of sports teams.

Hindsight is always 20-20. Too bad Eisner's crystal ball isn't working.:smooth:

Not to sure you need a crystal ball to "learn" what Eisner has. Thats assuming he has learned anything from the past 6 years...and a quick check has me thinking he has not.

I really, really think Disney/Eisner/whoever needs to step up and start introducing the new classics as attractions. I want my Finding Nemo adventure and there is already a perfect place to introduce it at both DL and MK, the empty lagoons in both parks Fantasylands. Come on guys, open up the purse strings a little. It doesn't have to be break through technology, just make it entertaining and memorable for us.
