Likelihood of Pixie Dust Pass AP Being Pulled?

I officially become a Florida resident in 3 weeks (yay) and one of my first tasks after settling in will be to purchase my annual pass.

With the insane crowd levels, I’m a bit worried that they will pull the Pixie Pass and leave me with no option but to spend $100+ to enter the parks during the week. Is this possible, or even likely? If that happens, I would be absolutely devastated.

With this fear, I was considering just purchasing it now to ease my mind a bit and verifying my address at Will Call (I don’t have my Florida drivers license yet).. but will my purchase remain in the Will Call system for 3+ weeks?

Thanks in advance, all.

Not completely sure how to answer your question, but can tell you my experience. I bought Weekday Select passes for DH and I in August IIRC when they allowed people who had cancelled to purchase passes. I activated them in October when I went on a solo trip so mine will expire in October ‘22. They were turned into Pixie Dust passes. They also let me activate DH’s as he texted me a pic of his DL. That is when we had to show proof of Florida residency. DH didn’t go until Feb ’22 so his will expire in Feb ‘23.

Honestly, I wouldn't stress too hard about it. Even if the parks are crowded right now, there are almost no days that are "sold out" right now as far as AP availability.

The reason they pulled the other passes was because there was so little capacity late last year - the passes with few or no blockouts had little availability. But that's not an issue now. If anything, I think it's more likely that they'll start selling the other passes before stopping the Pixie Dust - most of any potential "problem days" are already blocked out on that pass.

If you wanted to buy it earlier for peace of mind, no harm in doing that.

IMO, this product could be pulled any minute. Chapek was clear he wants more $$ per guest. I would want to buy now and make sure you're in whatever renewal they might offer for FL weekday passes.

Can you change your billing address now and buy it now? You need a FL credit card. You can activate it once you are there. You bring your DL to DS, no big deal. Time starts when you go to a park. You don't have to activate for months, or even years for some tickets.

I think the workaround to the FL credit card would be Disney gift cards.

AS WITH EVERYTHING DISNEY.... If you see it and you think you might want it, buy it when you see it. It may not be there 5 minutes later.

I can't tell you how many times I saw a towel or t-shirt and later it was gone never to be seen again.

As for the pixie pass.... If I had a penny for every thread on here about "I didn't buy the AP's when they were available". Just sayin'.

I appreciate everybody's advice. I changed the billing address online for my Disney Visa to my new FL address and was able to purchase my annual pass a few minutes later.

I'm officially an Annual Passholder! I suppose if they open the other passes before mid-April, I can upgrade online?

Bought DS his about a month ago, we don't go until June. He has his park reservations but will have to go through with the whole FL Resident proof when we get there. We'll just do it at Disney Springs GR, which is what my other DS and I did last November.

I’m assuming you already know what your Florida address will be? I would just purchase it online using that Florida address and then once you move there you can activate it at guest services with your proof of residency.

Congrats!

If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe you can upgrade online. If you haven't used your pass yet, you can call the VIPassholder line to upgrade. Once you've used your pass, I think you have to go to Guest Services to do the upgrade.

Honestly - I doubt they'll reopen APs that quickly (I would more gamble May or June at the earliest) - but I do think it'll happen in the next few months.

Nobody knows since we don’t know what the rules of the program will be when it comes back, but if history is an example, you will likely be able to upgrade it by visiting guest services at the parks. You *may* also be able to upgrade it over the phone.

Welcome! So glad you were able to get the pass while it is available. Hopefully it won't be taken off the site anytime soon (and it would be nice if future passes opened back up). But in case it does come down, you are IN.

Enjoy!!

No. You don’t need a Florida CC. As a seasonal FL resident I put mine on a CC billed to an address in another state and have for several years now. You will likely need to verify residency at Disney (a Guest Services window at a park or DS) when you visit a park for the first time, though. I think if you want to skip on-site verification then you can wait for a FL DL and an in-state CC.

I just helped someone buy the 2022 Florida day passes, and it definitely required a FL credit card to check out. And yea, you can just show your FL DL at the park or DS to prove it. In FL, they print your DL on the spot now.

dont' think it's likely. Pixie is only good for admission on weekdays and is blocked on major holidays.

Did you set them up for monthly payments? If so that requires a FL CC. But if you are paying outright in full, you do not need a FL CC.

I’m not a fan of monthly payments, so I purchased upfront. Either way, I had to update my credit cards for my Florida address.

I just hope Disney doesn’t send any AP mail to that address yet (current tenant is there for another two weeks).
