That is exactly what I told maroo on the phone the other night: NO tolerance for this c.r.a.p!! That bus driver should GO!! for the sake of ALL the kids and their safely and well-being.
In the grand scheme of things, a young person graduatation late, is really not a big deal. My own son will be a 19 1/2 year graduate simply because our life circumstances messed him up. I put him national school for a year and although her learned great Blankastani, he basically lost the entire year academically. You know what? It is so not a big deal. And even in many ways he will be more ready and mature for what university has in store. Also, he did his entire 10th grade year at a community college, and got duel credits for it. It counted towards both HS AND college. He will actually start university with 26 transfer credits.
If Lauren stretches her last couple of years out, she will really be no worse off, and can still get into university. If she goes the Com. Coll. route the actually schedule will be more flexible and lighter, and the campus tutoring centers are free and CAN help her. Just my 2 cents.
On a lighter note. It's looking like you guys are needing more time on this one. I admit it's a harder one, but I'm still going to give you the answer tomorrow, so make your guesses....
We actually were suggesting she stretch it out earlier this year. But she would have nothing of it. She wanted to graduate with the rest of her class.
So far the teacher we are trying to get in touch with has not called us back yet.
And the bus driver...really even more the offending students...will eventually have their day of reckoning.
She will probably do Community College that first year and then possibley move over to MS State. Depends on housing. They have special disability housing to a very few students and when one of those apartments come open, she will probably jump on it.
This is good! Try to remember that when all else fails. Breathe in the pretty colors, breathe out the bad.
Ok since when and where is a bus driver even allowed to play the radio? That driver should be canned, re-routed, written up, UGH! And in the middle of strike? Probably why he thought he could get away wiht it. I'll tell you in our district and many many they are consolidating routes, canceling busses, he is lucky to have a job and then to "somehow" let the kids find out who complained???? I cannot fathom the district tolerating it.
Poor William!
And oh, Lauren
Isn't' she in a bunch of honor's classes? Can that aspect be scaled back to make it a bit easier? Can she homeschool any of it? I have no idea what the support situation would be if she scales back, that's a valid concern. UGH! Poor Lisa!
I really hope you can get some sleep and wonder how much of it is possible apnea and how much is the stress you are carrying?
Legally Lisa will probably have to sign something giving the counselor authorization to speak to you, they are VERY strict about that stuff, for example I wouldn't be able to get Kendall and Taylor's school stuff unless both my DH and his ex agreed in writing for me to get copies.
It is good and I understand why but I am sure frustrating in the current situation.
Turns out their county buses settled their part of the strike. Now the other county is on strike. Between the stupid flu (my new name for the swine flu) and the bus strike, they say attendance is down a BUNCH at many of the schools.
But we will get that addressed...as soon as they can get William to tell an adult what even happened.
I am holding on for her resource teacher to call me back...I figure pulling her from her honors classes is an option. It is just so late in the school year. She has already had one 9 weeks. It is possible...if we can get her through this semester...that we could just move classes around for next semester, when her schedule has to change anyway.
Her very hardest class is over this semester anyway.
The registrar can also "hand pick" her teachers. They have been handpicking the "college prep" teachers. (This is all hush hush, by the way - the "computer" of course picks these classes....it is just a coincidence that all of the college prep, National Merit probable kids get the advanced teachers.... yeah....right.

) So...for next semester, they could choose different teachers, too...when they swap her schedule. Unfortunately, all of her friends are in the college prep classes. The school is huge and she would just not see her friends if she was on the other "track"...I am sure this all makes no sense.
I can remember taking several very hard classes that I did not want to take, just to make sure that my "track" stayed with my friends. I knew if I took Cal II, I would end up in the one class with all of my friends - since it was only offered one period per day - and that helped us get all of our other classes together, too.
And then there is the thought to extend an extra year. But I don't even know if that is possible?
I am already listed on Lauren's records with the "right" to pick her up from school, check her out of school, come take care of any medical need at school and I am listed on her IEP - and I come to all of the IEP meetings (that normally it is just the parents) - so I think that they would talk to me.
Thank goodness, her dad is "in the know"! I'm sure it will be "addressed"!
You are very welcome, for sure. That's what community is for!
Yes - they definitely try to be careful.
Richard accidently wrote an email to the principal of William's school last year (for a completely different issue) from his WORK email. It really was an accident. He just had his work email pulled up and typed a quick note to her. It really was not even a big deal...just an update on something they had already discussed.
The very next day no less than 3 high level people called Lisa. Lisa could not figure out why everyone was making such a big deal about a little issue. Especially when she could not get anyone to even address it the week before.
I said - maybe they know where he works... And she just gasped! Oh no!!! He wrote that email from his work address.

Whoops.
Maroo - I so thought I posted! I hope you know I have been thinking about everyone and praying for you. When I read you post, I was ready to hop a flight to MS and kick some butt.
It is all good!
I have done that before...I think that the DIS even loses a few posts every now and then. Or maybe I shut down before it actually "posts"...sometimes it takes a minute to stop "thinking" and post.
There are several threads that I knew I updated or knew I posted and it evaporated into thin air!
