Man, I missed a lot! I had a busy week - both my daughter's birthdays, and a School for the Blind training that was super intensive. I am ready to unwind and catch up on all the TRs I'm behind on. Bummed that I missed out on 2 brownie points - I totally would have got those!;)

A few thoughts before my weekend hiatus of computer time that came to me while sipping a nice glass of red wine made in the Turgen Valley, not far from here. It is quite nice with our Saturday night flick; The Return of the King. It's been a long day with a bunch of work getting our house ready for, what a lot of folks are saying, will be brutal winter (ie. -30C) and a lot of ice and wind. I also had my quilting class today; of which only 1 student showed up. Ugh! I am frustrated at putting a lot of work into preparing for it, and having students that are very flaky!

Onto trip planning stuff:

I realized that by my writing about our dining choices, you might have the impression that all of us will be eating at all these places together all the time. I'm not sure that will necessarily be true. I'm sure that maroo will join us for most of them, but if I understand correctly, she may actually venture out on her own sometimes. Am I right, maroo?? You'll have to give your opinions on which ones you're most excited about or which ones you are not at all looking forward to as they come up. So far we have Caseys, Pecos Bills, and Flame Tree BBQ.

I'm loving putting my mini-trip notebook together! eandesmom did me up some amazing pages for the section dividers for which I am completely and utterly grateful for. I'm taking my time designing the insert pages with Excel. The thing that is taking so long is the pages of the hidden gems and must-sees and do's for each park. I'm going back through all the books I have and hitting the various websites to double check that I'm not missing anything. Trust me, there's quite a lot of them! It's the little things I want to make sure I have on my lists like seeing the little Ewok houses at DHS, and the flag ceremony at MK. Everything else is done, like my dining review note pages (BTW, my future dining report is already named! :lmao:- seriously!) and a little pocket for my ME info, etc...

BRRR!

That is frustrating I am sure, to put a lot of work into it and have no one show up. I hope you were able to channel that disappointment into an especially pretty piece :)

I think I'm just going to copy all your hidden gems and must see's...it will save me a lot of work.

I didn't know there were little ewok houses!

LOL.

Have a lovely hiatus and we'll see you Monday morning (your time!)

God is in the details...

Kathy

so true.

sorry the class didnt show! I think knowing the winter is coming must be hard! I know we complain here (Chicago area) but we're lucky - it rarely goes below zero (unless you count wind chills - it hovers there!) We've had a period of hardly any snow - last year we had 3 snow days - With the cold summer speculation is this is going to be a brutal snowy cold winter all around!

I thought the Devil was in the details!

I guess that's why things get messed up a lot around here!

:dance3:

I know, it's a bummer when real life takes over, but birthday parties can be fun too. But if you're like me, you want enough time to do both! :goodvibes This is my unwind place too!

There's lot of time to catch up!! Don't worry! There were several regulars who couldn't make it this time around. Next one coming up shortly...

I'm back. Lots went on over the weekend- happy to be back!

Feel free to copy them out once I get them posted. I'm done with MK, EPCOT WS (still need to finish FW), and almost done with AK, haven't hardly started DHS. But my motto in life (including work with my LD son) is, "Any Progress is GREAT Progress!"

I didn't make anything new over the weekend, I did machine quilt in a border on one that is in progress and added a border to the one I'm going to sell. That one is stalled out though until my very unreliable MIL sends me the last fabric I need. And even then, I have to hope it's the right one. UGH!

Yes, waiting around for winter is always tough here. But, because we have what's called an "extreme continental climate", we typically only have about 3 weeks of fall and 3 weeks of spring. 6 weeks of tolerable weather ALL YEAR LONG! Overnight it goes from "fall-ish" to below freezing. Mind you, it does NOT go above freezing until around mid-March (literally!). Then over a period of 3 weeks around late March, the ground thaws, and it goes from cool to blistering hot. In August, our average temp is well over 100F. When I came here I counted many costs. But to be truthful, I didn't count the cost of the physical sacrifices- my skin is shot from the sun and wind, my back is shot because of having to sit on the floor most of the time, my hair falls out from stress, and the list goes on. Details.... I think it's a combo deal here. Our own choices (good or bad), the Devil, and God allowing us make those choices for better or worse.

Anyway, time to get on with the next segment! :dance3:

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. This warrior had a full schedule of teaching, along with fighting the regular enemies of laundry, dishes, dust. Can we ever say we are victorious on these fronts??? Not here in this life, my friends. Not here. Unless you win the lottery and can hire a full-time cleaning person. :lmao: Not likely; we soldier on.

There are respites though. Mine is coming on Sept. 5, 2010! I have great comrades who are joining me, the plans are coming together, I am learning more and more about my field of victory everyday, and the waiting hasn't been too bad.

Now, onto our next Dining Digs. We're going to shake things up a bit here since I"m having a really hard time finding a good balance between too easy and too hard. It's also a challenge to find a way for our illustrious contestants to wager their guesses without being tainted by previous poster's responses. So, here's what we're gonna do.

First, I'm going to start mixing up the CS and TS places. That will add a layer of interest and difficulty. Also, let's try this: When you make your response, highlight your text in white. I know, I know, people can still just highlight your text to see what you've written, so you'll all have to go by the honor system. OK?? Don't go back and peeky-peeky until after you've made your guess.

Let's see how this goes.... here are your clues for Rations Drop #4:

1) It's the only meal on property in which hard-ish alcohol is part of the meal.

2) Kings and princes are there along with the commoners.

3) Flutes and pots might sing for you, but never old bags.

4) Flowers are the main part of the centerpiece of the meal.

Now, tell me where you think the TC3 will enjoy this meal!

My goodness!!!! Below freezing for MONTHS? I don't know how you do it? Do you have good heat? :scared1:

This is me SHIVERING... :goodvibes

Anyway, time to get on with the next segment! :dance3:

OK! I guess I will play...

JUST KIDDING!! I have NO IDEA where we are eating...
But if you can see this...:rolleyes1

Ha! LOL, that was funny! :lmao:

Oh my.

Ok here I go...

this TOTALLY doesn't count as a vote as I know it is wrong. I'm coming back to revote. The HDDR serves beer, wine or sangria with the meal but man the clues sure don't indicate that at all. So...all I'm sayin' is that there might be more than ONE place on property that includes and adult bev. Hard-ish though....hmnn.

Ok, I'll give you another chance, since you are way, way off!

Is it Biergarten at Epcot?
Nope!

I have no idea.....

OK, you get another chance too. I"m putting up a new clue in a sec...

Okay, I see we're having a bit of difficulty here. Really, I tried to make this one a medium one, not too easy, not too hard!

So, as a bonus, here is another clue that will surely get you back on track. I won't tell you what these are, but they should help you.

There ya go.

Also, I know alcohol is served at a bunch of meals, but really this one is "hard-ish", if you order the right thing.

Good luck!

I'm thinking this has to be a place I never eaten at before because I'm not getting the clues. Now that I see this new picture, I might be able to make an educated guess. :confused3

These are NOT biscuits folks! Biscuits aren't cooked on a hot griddle. These contain yeast, are are eaten with jam. Does that help??!!

soooooooooooo??!

No, not exactly what you said, but now you are MUCH, much closer!!!! I"ll give you half a point for that!

HERE I GO!!!!!!

Rose & Crown unless this was a trick and it is GF afternoon tea.... hummmmmmm

Hopefully I am right... I need to catch up!!!!!!!!popcorn::

Okay, you also get a half a point! Your second guess was "spot on".
