majestic,

Thanks for the info. on the connecting rooms to the suites. I assumed they connected through the living room but I just wanted to make sure.

Roy,

Are those rooms on the Northwing? I 'm confused about what I had in my notes. I remember writing these down and saying that these would be great because they open up onto the lobby and they face out towards the water. I know I was on the Southwing side, but I thought those numbers started with a 1 and the Northwing started with 0.

If I am wrong let me know and I will disregard my notes and make sure I look at AC's thread. Thanks.

You are correct, all lobby rooms are numbered like north wing. Advice I was given was to request 5th floor Bears Face

Does anyone recall what the AP rates were for WL this past July? I would like to go ahead and book our room for the upcoming trip and would like an idea of what I can afford.

Little Poll:

Remember back to the very first time you decided to stay at WL...... What was the "deciding factor"?

My answer:
My dh's coworker has stayed here at least 2x per year for the past several years. He always raved about it. During our stay at CR, we were on a bus back from somewhere & made a stop at WL. My mouth dropped & I just knew I had to come back. Then, I saw Sam's travel channel show & was totally hooked!!

Good Morning Lodgers! Sorry I have been MIA through the New Year. Life has been getting in the way again:rolleyes:

I hope everyone is doing well and had a fabulous New Year!!

Fred, That countdown is really making me feel green::yes:: with envy today. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Kimberle, Actually the deciding factor came for me after I did some reading up on the Dis on the WL threads....THanks one and all for all the great advice....I can't wait to go back! It seems so far away today.

I have some friends that will be staying at the lodge on my recommendation through end of Jan and early Feb....I hope they get all the magic that we have all grown to expect.

Have a great day everyone!!

We chose our first time at the lodge becuase my mother paid for a "family" trip (7 adults, 7 children). She chose the resort.

We've been going back just about every year ever since. :)

OK WL Vets, those that know how the Tag Fairy works, lets get our leader some tags as it seems Kimmar is but a lost special memory.

Kimberle
We always did the one day thing or stayed off site. DD did not want to go back north for vacation this year and the State of Florida had a big advertising campaign urging Floridians to vacation in the state.
So she asked me to check out resorts and prices at WDW.
We went over the information I had compiled and WL caught our interest because of the many trips I had taken the family to the National Parks out west. We experienced Lodges, cabins and tents so we thought it would be a hoot to relive some of those happy times. With the very attractive FL RATES, The best decision we ever made.

FC, I too have been looking to get some new tags! Other than the Wl tag, my other tag is over a year old and is growing cobwebs! I think that someone doesn't like me because of things that I have said on the boards!:(

My DH and I first stayed at the WL for our honeymoon. We were scheduled to stay at The Disney Institute, because of the home away from home atmosphere. Two weeks before our honeymoon, Disney called and said they needed to move us because the Disney Institute was no more.

The CM told us to give the Wilderness Lodge a look see on line. It took my DH and I two seconds and we chose it. Never regretted our decision and we have been hooked ever since. :D

QUOTE]
In 1997, we were going to WDW with our then 3 & 4 year old DDs. I don't know what appealed to me most about WL, but to me there was never any competition(as far as atmosphere). We chose WL and loved it ever since. Heck, I'm the one responsible for getting Kimmar hooked. This summer though, we will be staying at the Poly-because of a lifetime fantasy of staying there(being a monorail resort and all). I am a little bummed though! In actuality, for the price I am paying for Concierge, I could stay at WL Deluxe concierge for less!

We were going to stay at Port Orleans and were told that we could upgrade to WL for a small fee per night because they were doing a special. Before that, my wife and I had never stayed at a Deluxe resort. Thanks for the cool idea to bring this up Kimberle. :) Good memories.

Fred

I have not been yet, but I am so looking forward to our first stay (go countdown timer go :hyper: )!!!

The reason we decided to try the WL this trip:

Last trip we booked dinner at WC one night. We left MK on the boat and travelled over to the Lodge. Coming across the lake and then seeing the lodge...I knew...we HAD to stay there! We are big 'outdoors' people and my dream is to have a little house in the mountains.

When we went inside...even more delight! What a beautiful atmosphere and feeling :hyper:

Oh...I can't wait

I had always dreamed of staying in a monorail resort..So the first year that my DD and I did our trip, I booked the Poly..later that year my best friend booked the WL for us to stay in..I loved it but we had a bad room (facing the villas pool WAY DOWN on the end) the next Feb I booked the CR, hated the decor, hated the conventioneers, liked the room size, but then knew...nothing beats the WL ..have been a faithfull WL Vet since..would like to try the Poly again, but can't bear to tear myself away!

ps..where can I get 800#'s...My Disney Club # has been disconnected since they discontinued

AC I have read most of your posts and I would be hard pressed to think of anything you have "said" that would cause any hard feelings.

At least you have a tag :( sniff, sniff...I mean...CLAP! CLAP!

OK Tag Fairy, listen up. You provide Magic and delight to many of us and your hard work is more then appreciated. Having said that, with no begging or pleading, just a simple request from our heart.

HughJackman'n'me, formally Kimmar067, is the founder of the WL FAQ thread. Highly read and extremely respected. While it provides us place to be zany, witty, but more important shares critical information to those that are considering a WL stay. While there is no official poll, there can be no doubt many have stayed and come to love WL as their ”Home Away From Home” because of HughJackman'n'me. Therefore HughJackman'n'me is well qualified to hold the tag “MOST NOBLE KEEPER OF THE WL THREAD”.

AspiringCindy also has a thread where previous WL guest can share their room information and comments of their experience at WL. This is the backbone of the valuable advice we freely share with the Newbies.
AspiringCindy is more then entitled to the tag of ”HEART & SOUL OF WL EXPERTISE” or any tag of her choosing.

Thanking you, on the behalf of WL VETS, for your cooperation in honoring these two deserving ladies. May your reign as Tag Fairy last for a millennium.

PS: AC clean out your mailbox

We where visiting Decovery Island...No not at Animal Kingdom...The original Decovery Island aka Treasure Island located on an actual island in the middle of Bay Lake many, many years ago. We had seen the construction from the Monorail but didn't see anything but the cranes working away. On our trip from DI the launch :boat: went close to the area where WL was being built, I fell in love right then and there.

Tons of granite flagstones and hundreds of giant lodgepole pines from the West were brought in to re-create the authentic atmosphere of America's national park lodges. This Native Floridan was impressed and still am.
We have a ten year Anniversary for The Lodge coming in May 2004. :wizard:

AspiringCindy,
I agree with FloridaCat have never found your post to be anything but helpful...(very helpful) unless you have a secret persona that comes out late at night over on The Debate Board.:rotfl:
